    Hi Dave, sorry this isn't a comment about this video , but about a comment you made in your last video about appearance of the 2 brilliant flags that you have made. To give them a more "realistic" appearance, how about giving them a spray over with clear matt varnish with a rattle-can? Just a thought.

      I do need to tidy them up abit as I was rushing to get them finished for a challenge.

    Thanks Grumpy! Those guys with really large posh workshops are just going to have to walk a few steps to start their filtration system. It is the price they pay!

      Thanks mate appreciate that. Yeah serves them right for having big shops 🤣

    Hi David a good buy there. The main thing now is the best place to hang it for best results. Tony

    Another good review as usual Dave. Peter Millard did a short review of the Record Power system (ua-cam.com/video/dxwZ5KCbwfM/v-deo.html ) and it appears to have a metal case and the filter is held in by two clips, so it looks a little more refined than the Rutland's one. He says there is nothing much to choose between them spec wise although the Rutland's one is supposed to be slightly quieter. Keep up the good work.

      Thanks mate, yeah this is really quiet. I did look at the record power & axminster but this was the cheapest

    I enjoyed the introduction explaining how you ended up buying it after waiting. Air scrubber is one of those eventual purchases that should probably be higher on our list.
    Will we see you hang it? Curious about clearance and how you get it in the middle of the shop and not bump your head on it? Up on the long side of the shop I’d imagine. Cheers

      Thanks mate, still trying to decide where to hang it. My shops only 2.2m at the highest side. Should have made it bigger🤣
      I might do a video when I decide where to put it

    Good honest first look, whats even better dave is how much more relaxed and confident you are becoming in front of the camera chatting about all things in the workshop.

    Logo looks great. There seem to be loads of similar extractors but they all seem to do a similar job - my JET version has made a huge improvement to my workspace so I think it's money very well spent. Cheers.

    Desperately need to sort extraction for my space before I choke to death!
    Have to admit, 6.5 m range is a bit disappointing but i guess it should work for most British workshops.
    Good job Dave a very worthy investment I'd say.

      Thanks mate, apart from the range on the remote it seems ok. Let's be honest my workshop is bloody tiny so probably won't need the remote

    Hi, yeah got a similar model (Record) and the casing is thin metal with all the same actions/settings etc….rear end and filtration system are the same. A good all round review. Looking forward to the next videos concerning dust extraction for the tools you use as I’m looking to do something similar in my workshop so looking to see how you approach it and solutions.

      Thanks mate, was surprised the housing was plastic. Yeah I have some ideas regarding dust extraction but need funds first

    Interesting video Dave, I didn’t realise the Rutlands version had a plastic casing and no clips for the filter, other than that, it would appear identical to the Record Power that I bought back in January. My workshop is a similar size to yours & I have it mounted on a shelf rather than use the chains. I don’t use the remote that often as the buttons are easy to get to. Having watched Leo’s (hand-I-craft) video of the Axminster version, it does have an improved RF remote which doesn’t rely on line of sight, so is better for larger workshops.
    Also got to say, what a great determined guy Leo is, getting his air filter up onto that shelf one handed was incredible 👍.

      Thanks mate, yeah I thought they were all metal. Still deciding where to hang the damn thing. Changing the filters is simple enough but I'm still surprised it has fixed tabs to secure them

    I've got the Axminster Craft version, which is made of metal. I had an issue with the fuse blowing fairly early on, but since replacing the fuse it's been fine. Still need to figure out the best way to position mine. It's been sideways on a shelf for the last year or so, but I'd prefer to get it on the ceiling if I can figure out how to attach it safely (beams are further apart than the fixings on the unit)

    • @GrumpysWorkshop4
      @GrumpysWorkshop4  2 роки тому +1

      Mine seems to work rather well where it is. How far apart are your rafters? If the chains are splayed outwards I'm sure you could still hang it from the ceiling.

    • @dy1an
      @dy1an 2 роки тому +1

      @@GrumpysWorkshop4 mine works okay too, but it's not remotely close to the best location. Too close to a wall, and a pain to reach to clean/change the filters.
      You're probably right that it'd be fine with the chains splayed a little. I'm probably just being paranoid, but part of me worries that it'll fall off the ceiling if I don't mount it with the chains absolutely vertical 🙄

    • @GrumpysWorkshop4
      @GrumpysWorkshop4  2 роки тому +1

      @@dy1an I was debating splaying the chains but my roofs too low. The info I read said 2/3 to half way along the longest wall. That way you get circular air movement. Not sure if there's ever a perfect spot. I don't think it would come off with the chains.

    Hi Dave.
    Are you gonna hang it from your ceiling or will you leave it freestanding? I bet it is awkward to hang on your own, so would be nice to see how you go about it. I have been looking at the same unit myself. Just can't make my mind up yet. Cheers for the review 👍

      Still trying to work out where to put it. Might do a quick video when I do. Apparently this one & the record power have crap remoted whereas the axminster one doesn't rely on line of sight.

      Also I saw the axminster on amazon for £190 but on axminsters website it's £209

    Great review Dave ,im not impressed with the faffing about to change the filter ,i would also be a little concerned that changing the filter in the depths of winter could cause the plastic to crack

    • @GrumpysWorkshop4

      Yeah I'm surprised it has fixed tabs but I think the casing is durable enough, hopefully 🤔
