As you discover, no acting or fake tears in his eyes. This is real emotion with his dying father sitting beside him as James wanted to express his emotions to him in a song. Thankfully, and because of this song, a distant relative heard why James's father was dying, got tested and was a match. His father is still alive today. Both father and son were veterans and all royalties from this song goes to Help the Heroes, a charity for ex-servicemen and women.
We should give James Blunt the first century oscar for the most emotional and thruthfull song ever written on this fucken planet. This is so real and honnest❤❤
I heard that James donated all the proceeds from 'Monsters' to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' who do so much fantastic work for British ex-servicemen and service women. What a wonderful thing to do. Well done James!
It takes a real man to show his tears and emotions ❤️ this song hits home to myself and to alot of people out there James Blunt sang this to his dad who was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease and a distant cousin came forward was a perfect match for his dad's transplant ❤️ they were both in the British military and wanted all the money donated to all veterans who died and survived the war god bless James Blunt such a beautiful tribute to his father ❤️
when this video was shot James's father was dying, fortunately distant relative saw this video and turned out to be a match and donated a kidney. last i heard James dad is now doing fine
The most touching image in the video is right at the end. James's father pats his arm as if to say "well done, son". Everyone seems to miss it because they stop the video too soon. Lovely reaction, thanks.
This was done in one take, with one camera and no cuts or auto tune. This was the first time his father had heard it. By the end everyone in the studio was sobbing. His father looked around and asked why everyone was crying that he was still there. Due to the video, a distant cousin came forward and donated a kidney.
They both served in The British Army. Here you are supposed to keep a stiff upper lip. This was done in one take. When finished everybody was in floods of tears except Senior Blunt who wondered why this happened. A heart wrenching, beautiful song
When his Dad touches his arm, that gets me every time! I'm so glad that a kidney was found and that they were given more time together! at the very end he reaches over and touches him again, you didn't let it play out but that part gets to me too. Although I don't know who my father is, I had some father figures that I lost at a younger age and it was just as hard as if they were my father. These were my Uncles! There was no acting, it was his true feelings and real tears! GREAT reaction my friend!

There are two occasions in my life where I have had to listen to ‘You’re Beautiful’ far more times than I’d perhaps choose to. The first was when the song was relatively new and we rented a room to a German student, who played it on repeat for hours at a time. The second was when we lived in Berlin 2013-16 and every time I went into a Kaisers or Edeka, there was James Blunt playing over the in-store radio (Sixpence None The Richer was played just as much too). You Germans love him!
I can admit that James Blunt was a thing here in Germany, and probably still is. But when his career blew up our radio stations played this song a million times for sure :D
His father was dying and needed kidneys. James gave his father one of his kidneys, but there was no other donor at the time. ♡ His dad was at stage 4 kidney failure... when he song the to his father. Both served in military uniform for Great Britain 🇬🇧

This is my first reaction I’ve heard from you, and I really enjoyed it 😊 If you are open to something different, I would recommend Aurora to you. She’s an empath, she started to write music at a very young age (like age 11, maybe younger), and she usually has a deeper message in her songs. You can start with some of her darker stuff, or lighter stuff, it’s good either way. For the lighter stuff I would recommend “Through the eyes of a child”, from Nidarosdomen which is a cathedral. That’s an amazing performance. If you watch a bit after the performance ends, you will catch a glimpse of her personality, which is very sweet. For the darker stuff I would recommend “Murder song 5 4 3 2 1” from the Nobel peace prize concert, or “It happened quiet”, the studio version (which has an amazingly haunting feel to it).
I sometimes look for videos that will make me guarantee crying. It's an emotion we need to let out, or it'll turn to anger.... its better than really regretting something...
Your tender heartedness is just as touching as the song. It reminds us all that loosing someone you love is painful and that you need to let them know you love them often. All we can hope for in our own lives is that we have someone who loves us as much as we love them and we let them know how much we care.
