- Things to do in Longboat Key, Florida. Longboat Key is an amazingly beautiful barrier island located between the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay. It’s an absolutely gorgeous tropical island littered with homes of the rich and famous. It has several outstanding beaches and fabulous restaurants. Although it’s only 9.6 miles long, the beauty, turquoise waters and abundant wildlife, makes it a destination worth considering. I hope you enjoy the video.

Thank you for this. I love Longboat Key but haven't been for over 2 years. We always stay at the Turtle Crawl Inn.
We stay there too the 1st floor condo 2nd from the end. Love there, however, next month we'll be staying at Casa Del Mar for something different.
