      @Jesse Holm Mars atmosphere is much thinner also. That plays a factor in its night sky clarity. Earth's atmosphere refract alot more light so no matter when in our history the sky have never been as clear as the sky on Mars.

    This is intense......
    Saw my first really dark night sky leaving the Grand Canyon...my god i almost cried. Milky Way was clear as day.
    Saw it while camping at Mojave desert but arizona was black!
    But this here is just breathtaking! Chilling but amazing!!!

      just imagine, when ever you hear of the star patterns mentioned in ancient history..... they were choosing those stars out of the billions they could see ALL the time. for us it basically the opposite ... living in cities so bright.

      I've never been able to look up and see more than about 5-6 stars at a time. they're not very visible at night here. I'd be outside at night all the time if it was.

      @@locabynature yeah light pollution is pretty insane. Even in the deep Everglades in Florida I don’t recall being able to see the Milky Way. There are spots but you have to go really deep in the swamp away from the lights.

    We seriously must consider to construct a full blown astronomy lab with all the last technological whistles and flutes that we have ever think and wish to have, over the surface of Mars to study the cosmos. Damned, it is the most beautiful breathtaking clean view of the sky I've ever seen in my entire earthling miserable life!

      @Steven 00 actually technically everything is made of exploded stars, hence the dust. The elements in our bodies all came from these celestial events. There is plenty of dust in space. Even gold, our most treasured element is created and spewed out into space by super novas and then gathered into the balls that become planets. Pretty cool, actually.

      Well said. There are more than 200 billion stars in our Milky way galaxy alone while our brain is comprised of around 100 billion neurons.
      It is estimated that each star has at least one planet. How many planets, moons and other celestial bodies would be there in this galaxy alone while there are hundreds of billions of other galaxies in the "observable universe".

      If Andromeda ever collides with us you will see a significant amount of change in our sky ! It won’t be the same anymore! Andromeda is a fire galaxy it will make some mass changes merging two galaxies! But maybe not in our lifetime

    I wonder how mars rover is controlled during night. How does signal reach while the rover is on the dark side of the planet? Does it received scheduled movements during the day and proceed that during night, or does it move on its own with AI and transmit video during day?

    A long time ago, it was thought Mars had such huge pressure nothing would survive snd be instantly crushed. The same is said for Venus. Hiigh pressure instant crushsbility.

    This doesn’t really show the night sky it’s just a still panoramic image. And images can be edited. Also if anyone is an astrophysicist please confirm if the constellations are in the correct place.

    Recently I have seen a video spotting a dot (earth) from Mars. But no Stars were seen around? How could it be?

      At dusk on Mars or twilight planets can be spotted in the evening twilight including our Earth, if you go out in the early morning or late evening just after sunset you'll spot Venus with no stars around, stars appear in the sky after twilight as night falls.

    why don't they ever show night shots from the space shuttle or space stat. you know look out the window into space while on the dark side,. also space walks are what only done on the day side. what the longest spade walk or time they spent fixing something and how long did it take the space shuttle to go around the earth???

      Those are a certain type of Nebula know as Dark nebula. dense cloud of interstellar dust that completely blocks out visible wavelengths of light from objects behind it.
