I absolutely think MCC is the best package for mainstream gaming. It goes on sale fairly often too, so being able to purchase 6 games with multiplayer and mod support for... what, like 20 bucks? It's just incredible.
Of course, there's 343's track record, but I choose to believe they're turning over a new leaf with this.

@Derk Halo 4 on Legendary isn't bad Solo Halo 2's is but not on the levels you think if you've played you would understand Outskirts and Oracle and Regret are my top 3 most annoying levels to do on Legendary or Higher Solo of course.
Regret is number 1 if you put it on LASO list goes as follows if not 1 Oracle 2 Regret and 3 Outskirts.
Never played Halo. Had a coworker talk me into buying this title for pc. Excited to dive in and learn.
I just recently replayed all of them and yes they're still fun but also really dated by todays standards

The fact they still update the game and it has tons of unlocks and enough to keep you busy and the games are timeless classics, the answer is yes because even after you beat every game on there you will still have a lot more to do.
I just got it on steam deck and playing Halo 1/2 multiplayer again for almost 20 years almost brought a tear to my eye.
Was scrolling through gamepass and seen MCC I’ve always known about halo but never even thought about trying it, but with the amount of content you have said you get, I’d be stupid not to experience these games.

I just recently got it on steam on sale for 10 USD and a steal that big for the amount of quality content you get is downright criminal.
I absolutely agree 100%, modding support and high framerate support on pc is honestly the best experience, alot of people still complain about issues and bugs, but i mean any game ever has problems, besides the original games were built with spaghetti code, so thank bungie for that, i never even imagined back in the day, that halo 3 or even all the halo games would be on pc with mod support.

My first halo campaign was halo 5 ,I did try some split screen with a neighbor when og halo first released, but i was more into square enix games at the time, i ended up up getting mcc today.
Never been an xbox user except for a few months owning the xbox 360 but I never knew halo was a thing, I only played GTA on xbox but now with the xbox series x... Microsoft's game pass is incredible. I couldn't not believe how easily I could play the Gears games and the Halo games with multiplayer support as well.
I can really see why Halo is such a beloved franchise and I just wish I had played it when it first came out.
Having multiplayer for each game on top of the campaign is an amazing deal.
Unfortunately a lot of the achievements don’t end up registering… I use steam and did the odst campaign and didn’t get credit for it
Sometimes the rejoin feature doesn't work. It's my biggest gripe with the game. My friends internet connection was not very good and he got disconnected. When he got back in, it banned him for 15 minutes. Doesn't seem very fair to do that.

I feel my answer depends on what you want from this. If you're only in it for single-player, then yes absolutely buy this. Buy this yesterday.
On the Multiplayer side, I find this game lacking badly. I don't feel the playerbase is there. Steam users shows about 3.5k players average for every 24 hours, so the real numbers are probably somewhere between 5k-6k players playing. Far from dead for sure, but you can feel those numbers. I have a hard time finding matches in certain game modes or games. When I do find matches, I'm paired with the same group of people over and over again, and it tends to keep the previous teams. So if you're on a bad team, chances are you're stuck on that team until you refresh your search. Last night my team got seven steaktaculars in a row. We had a guy constantly racking up 25+ kills every match, and the opposing players' best was a solid 5 each game. That's not a fun experience, regardless if you're winning.
Competitive and social games (for certain modes like BTB) are basically dead. It's easier if you play according to US time zones from 5pm up to 12pm.
You can find populated ones on Custom Game Browser quite easily, though.
As someone who has never played a halo game before and playing halo reach this video will be very informant
How come i can't play reach and odst anymore?
I have the disc and i was able to play both of them all the way through when i first got the disc but i haven't been able to play them again since then it says i need to purchase them

I just purchased this on Xbox on sale for $9.99 and i couldn't remember halo 2 or the reach campaigns which had me intrigued because I've played the series before plus all the extras i can't complain at all

I love MCC. it is a way to play all the OG halo games mainly campagin im not huge into the halo multiplayer. I don't mind Infinate and still debating if I should get 5, but when I found out you don't play as Master Cheif the entire game that is kind of keeping me from it.
I really enjoyed Halo 5. The story is unnecessarily confusing and underwhelming. The gameplay is superb though. Definitely give it a go. 👌
Easily the best collection in gaming. You are looking at hundreds of hours of content in campaign, multiplayer, custom games, forge or firefight.
Thats not even counting the campaign playlists that give extra challenges plus the battlepasses that come pre bought ready for unlocking

I just got gamepass ultimate. I sideloaded edge browser on my quest and now I played my first full playthrough of halo 1 now I'm on halo 2

Ironically, MCC multiplayer is more difficult than Halo Infinite despite the lazer mouse advantage. Veterans are so good that you simply cannot even kill them.
Eh i mean thats pretty normal almost to every average shooting game so it isnt really an excuse.
Halo really suffers without a lot of casual players in game, and there are a lot of no life losers who memorize every map to the point where they know where to spam grenades before you even spawn in.

I have a question as someone who is playing through this entire series campaign for the first time. I'm enjoying my time with MCC courtesy of Game Pass but I have one gripe or misunderstanding with this collection: How come Halo 2 has been remastered to the point where it looks like a modern game with complete new CGI cutscenes but Halo 3 looks almost unchanged from its original form?
Also the storyline seems to jump very weird from the end of Halo 2 to Halo 3. I feel like some of this is lost on me since I'm experiencing this campaign so late but still some of the decisions they made with the story seem odd.
Halo 2 was remastered back when MCC released because it was the 10-year anniversary. Unfortunately, Halo 3 did not get the same treatment
The jump from Halo 2 to Halo 3 is probably weird because Halo 2's story was abruptly cut during development due to time constraints.
Ya Halo 1 is a proper 3 act story. The rest is cut and paste whatever.
I just finished downloading it it was only $40 on steam sitting in menu selection screen rn never owned Xbox but lots of good memories playing with friends think for $40 can't beat that value

my only complaints come from me being a little salty that halo 5 isn't in the bundle but that's from a PC only player and i believed console players got a hold of this collection before halo 5 came out. but even still with how it came out on PC it would have been such a great surprise. for those that dont remember when the MCC came out on PC in 2019 only reach was available then every few months the next game come out and went on until all of them were released i think it took in total a year and a half

I recommend the order of Halo Reach, Halo 1, 2, 3, ODST, and 4. But playing them in release order also is fine: Halo 1-3, ODST, Reach, 4.

Maybe on your hardware, but with a 3070Ti and Ryzen 9 5900x, halo 1 of all things, runs absolutely fine at 144fps and at 1440p.

Not only does it take 5-15 minutes to boot, but the resolution and aspect ratio are FORCED to native in full screen, where Halo CE and Halo 2's visuals are blown WAY up past the resolutions even Bungie was able to see these assets at during development. So if you want to preserve the original intended experience in classic 1 and 2 you have to play in a teeny tiny window on your desktop. You can scale it up to be a 4:3 window just with a higher resolution, but it still has to be a window and still only lets you use your native resolution, you're not playing in 480p in full screen unless you're using a literal CRT monitor from 20 years ago [which if you are, fuck yeah dude, keep rockin]
This is the only PC game I've ever seen in my entire life that forces native resolution only, it gives this air of "gamers only care about dem grafix and not preserving and experiencing the game in the way it was intended", like I've seen indie and fan games let you change the resolution at full screen, so this was a CONSCIOUS CHOICE, and it makes no fucking sense.
What I'm upset with is I can't run max settings on the mcc on pc without a fatal error on launch even though I have a 3080 and really decent equipment that is more than capable of doing so

My dilemma is that the MCC is not on sale, but all the games individually are as a dlc, is it the same game? I want to buy the collection, but I'll save money buying the games individually.
You have to buy them all, I just got halo reach (separately) and it’s considered a DLC. It’s kinda dumb, but you’re better off just buying the entire collection all together.
MCC is fun for the campaigns but the online is an exercise in frustration as a KB/M player. Unless you've no lifed the game for 10+ years and use gamepad you will likely get stomped on social matchmaking by TryHard timmies queued up together and your teammates will Gamepasss Gary's who never picked up a controller before.

Do the campaigns require gamepass?
What? No. When you buy the master chief collection you get the first Halo (Halo Combat Evolved) Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4, the only campaigns that you have to buy separately as Addons, is Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach, I think it’s 5 dollars for both Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach, I got them for free though, pretty sure it’s because I had Halo Reach and Halo 3 ODST installed already, but the 360 versions of both of those games, and it gave them to me as a free update I guess.

Hey so i have the mcc DISC and when i FIRST got it i was able to play both reach an odst all the way through but i haven't been able to play them again since then

@@GORILLA_PIMP Oh you have to pay for them that’s why, they’re basically DLC, and don’t come with the DISC, you either made a new account or something, and maybe if you did make a new account, on your old account you had the Xbox 360 version of Halo Reach installed? and Halo 3 ODST? because that’s the reason why I was even able to get them both free in the first place.

No. Every update that comes out, it kills the performance for me. Halo 2 anniversary for example runs abysmally now on Xbox Series X. I get an average of 15 fps. And in multiplayer across all games it stutters like crazy. I used to get a constant 120fps with no issues, and since the last update it’s been unplayable, even if I bring the resolution down from 4K to 720p

The only reason to get this is for the campaigns which I can’t imagine most people haven’t already played numerous times already, but 343 sucked all the fun out of the multiplayer, I mean damage cannot be undone with player count since the disaster launch so it’s already low and finding matches is hard, if you exclude halo 4 maps everything takes even longer. It took them forever to add a custom game browser but player count is so low it’s usually 5 halo pros and 2 guys afk. Just dismal still 343 should be ashamed

If they had given MCC the care it deserved back in 2014 instead of abandoning it for years, it would probably be a lot more populated than it is now.

..yeah I know you can’t play the multiplayer on the original halos anymore, but there’s just something special about the originals, pause screen and menus along with the music that plays in the originals, never forget.
Yeah if you like the campaigns for the old halos it’s definitely worth it. If you’re playing for online… let’s just say it ain’t how it used to be. Playing with PC players is a bad idea. Lots of cheating. Why cheat in a 20 year old game like halo2? No clue but it’s everywhere.
