Usually I dislike mint in recipes BUT that flavor really FITS WELL in this dish.
Let's all visualize Chef cooking & teaching many more healthy years❤

@@kqed When was this episode filmed? Is Jacques still making these home cooking videos?
This man is a national treasure. How did we get so lucky to have him?
Things we ask ourselves daily.
I LOVE guava paste. Excellent with an aged cheddar. Delicious!
Oh that does sound good.
cheddar should be the appropriate cheese- grew up in St. Thomas, and learned about this snack from my Puerto Rican Math teacher!!! Epic
Any Brazilian would love that dessert as it is a popular treat in some states. Jacques is the best.
Ps: melted guava paste is also great on top of cheesecake.
PS:
Ooh. That's a great tip!
Guava swirled cheesecake is my favorite, but you can just make a syrupy topping to spoon over slices of cheesecake instead if you're planning a cheesecake bar for a gathering. My next experiment will be some cream cheese thumbprint cookies with some guava paste.
@@annalockwood3021 all ideas sounds divine, will def have to try!
Knowing one of my biggest kitchen inspirations is still cooking amazing food warms my small little culinary heart. Ive finally made it into a kitchen, and Jaques and many others guided me to where i am! Much love!
Amazing! Happy cooking.
Such a gentle spirit. Happy cooking to you, too, Chef Pepin.
Thanks Chef Pépin! Looks delicious! 🌿
It looks delicious! I've never tried guava paste - but knowing the flavour of guava - I think it would blend well with the pond cake and cream cheese. Thank you, guys.
Yum, those are some fun recipe ideas.
I remember eating this. Guava is really used quite a bit in Puerto Rico and as a Puerto Rican I love this❤️❤️❤️
My old time favorite.🎉Best cook. 👌

Looks delicious. I'd love to try that guava paste sometime, looks like a versatile ingredient. Thanks Jacques!
Definitely give it a try.
Try cheddar cheese squares, with guava paste and an olive. Skewer them with a toothpick. As an apetizer.
What a fun recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Cool.
Happy cooking!
Simple to make and lovely! 😊
And HE is STILL lovely too❤❤❤.
Indeed!

I can see this with chevre on top rather than the cream cheese. So decadent.
Oh that's a fun modification.
I need to try with goat cheese. It should be great.😋
👍
❤🌹👍🏼
Can I use membrillo instead? I know it’s a different flavor, but might it work?
🥰🇵🇷

Yan can cook the best of China
I should go see if my mint is still alive. If it is, it probably needs water!

That my friend isn't guava paste! That is guava jell. Real guava paste is gritty, but the jell is smooth and lacks taste. I suggest you make your own. Back in the day it was easily found, but no more.
I love the jell. I find it very flavorful...butmaybe I've never had the real stuff so I don't know any better.
@@zhargidabeoulve I grew up on the real stuff. Imagine the guava flavor but more intense. In cooking, texture matters. So with the sweetness of the pastry/pound cake and maybe some powdered sugar coupled with that grainy guava it's delish.
If Jaques Pepin wants to call it paste who are we to disagree with him?
I just checked the Internet and he's using Iberia Guava PASTE not jell, "my friend". $13.44 for 14oz on Amazon.
@@lionharehart It say that, but it's actually the jell. You cannot find the true guava paste in stores anymore. You will not find any with the actual guava grit.
