The driver needs to double clutch when shifting gears to stop the gear clash. When shifting down to a lower gear he needs to blip the throttle in neutral with the clutch out to get the trans gear speeds to match. When upshifting no throttle blip is needed. I think it was Cadillac that had synchromesh first in 1928.
Very nice car! Please fix the exhaust leak, put the correct weight lube in the trans, get the correct taillight, and set the spark and hand throttle levers to the top of the steering wheel.

That exhaust is quite loud, and I agree on the other things you said. Besides that very nice car
but why not fixing also this downdraft carb conversion, which seems problematic at high RPM ?
That mufler or lack of muffler ruins it .
To much chrome on the engine,,
The colors are very tasty, I know the 26 is an ash or oak frame
