Hi team! 💜 Hope you enjoyed the setup 😄 It was nice to do something fairly simple compared to my new year journal setups, and the washi stickers certainly made for fun decoration 🥳 If you wanted to nab anything from The Washi Tape Shop, make sure to use code FRIDAY for 20% off your order 💪 We love savings! 💸 bit.ly/TWTSxJC
That penguins in the box sticker kills me Edit to add: the comments about how far you’ve come in journaling is very encouraging. I’m really early in doing decorative journaling and I’m finding great joy in anything I create, it’s really exciting to see the possibilities to come with experience and practice
Glad you’re enjoying it so far 😄💜 I’ve certainly had times when it felt less enjoyable and more tedious, but I’m glad I stuck with it 👏 longest hobby I’ve had 👌
"This one's sort of soft Christmas" -- YES! This is something I need. Maybe I can rethink my December theme/plan intentions. Not just soft colors, but taking it easy would be a good idea. 🤯
I use reusable boxes for gifts because I love the look of “presents” under the tree. I get them at home sense, the dollar store, kinda everywhere. I fill them with actual presents the night before.
Yes same! We also re-use our wrapping paper- sometimes stitching them together with tape which creates a unique patchwork look, or I'll put something on to cover any gaps like a dried orange slice or cinnamon stick
I have learned that I am a SPIRAL-bound notebook person! They just work so much better with my lifestyle and the situations/positions in which I use my journal. If anyone has recommendations for a spiral-bound, dot grid notebook please let me know
Don't mind me, I'm just commenting here to hopefully get a notification if someone knows any good spiral dot grid notebooks (bonus point if it's a hardcover one, I've noticed that hardcover spiral notebooks work better for me than the paperback kind). I mean, sure, a quick google search will find you a bunch of different options, but if anyone has any experience with them....... :D
@Nilaues same on both of these comments! I can find hardcover, spiral journals, but the paper is thin or not mentioned. I've searched 'hardcover, spiral, 120 gsm' and haven't had any luck!
@@PolkadotSparrow the one I ended up going with is from Appointed - their notebooks and planners are all spiral bound and they don't check ALL my boxes but are the closest I've found and meet my needs.
We use Christmas gift bags from like dollar tree (I’m assuming you have some similar store in NZ) and then we reuse them the next year until they are damaged and need to be recycled. My whole family does it so there’s always a rotation of bag styles because whatever ones you take home are the ones you use next year. I love this set up it’s adorable.
The stensil bricks are neat! Hadn't thought of the possibility of using stensils like that. My sister makes reusable Christmas gift bags. She sells them at markets in Taranaki. They have a draw string close which is super handy. The prints are cute too 🎄 Checking Welly markets might be the way to go!
I loved the diy advent calendar my mother used to make for me and my sisters. It did have smal gifts som days, but other day it was our cookie cutters because that day we would be baking and decorate ginger bread. Other activeties were collecting the Christmas tree, decorating the tree, making Christmas decorations, going on a consert (it could be the consert of the kids choir we were a part of), meeting santa. It was a nice way to spend time together and prepare for Christmas without all the stuff you realy dont need. If you and Vougel has decided on a budget for the calendar, giving him a "free" activity means you can splurge on a larger present for another day.
Yes! Reusable gift bags are amazing. I make all of mine with cloth I find at the thrift store or old clothes I don't wear any more. They are so so easy to sew, I promise!! 🪡🧵
My sewing machine broke recently (aka 3 years ago, that’s recent, yeah?) and would only sew backwards 😂 mayhaps I’ll wait and make some with Mum when her stuff arrives 🤔
I bought reusable grocery bags in a sack shape with handles off Amazon. This way I could tie the handles like a bow. They have fun Christmas patterns but I got plain so I could use them year round. But last year I used dollar tree backpacks for gifting.
I used to envy your notebook collection. Now, I absolutely envy your Washi collection. I've been watching several of your videos for B5 inspiration and your Washi stack is A-MA-ZING!!!!
Haha 😂 I’m very fortunate in that a lot of tapes get sent to me from companies to have a look at, promo, what not 💜 does me I’m almost constantly decluttering tapes too 😝
Definitely push Go! on the alternative wrapping arrangements - even if only a little bit. We'd been talking about doing it for as it turns out over 10 years, finally started this year (with thematic fat quarter packs from Spotlight on special, and ribbon) and kicking ourselves we didn't start sooner because they're surprisingly easy to use even without tidying up the edges!
I purchased my reusable bags from QVC and have reused them for a few years and they still work perfectly! Cute designs, variety of sizes, and reasonably priced 😊
Great Christmas Bags can be made and decorated by using pillow cases. They're big enough to fit most gifts, and can be tied up with ribbon or rope to close for re-use
Gift bags: Amazon gift bags, when you say it's a gift, are great! They are cloth with draw strings. Every time I get one I keep it and use it again and again. It's great for odd sized things like shirts and sweaters. Reusable gift boxes are all great if you have the space to store them.
@JashiiCorrin Don't we all. 💖 I have a couple sets of nesting ones and I pick out new wired Christmas ribbon every year or two. Then I get to make pretty bows too. 🤩
I have several Christmas bags I use over and over again every year and they are actually from gifts I've gotten from Amazon! Their gift bags are pretty much perfect. I don't know if you can get them without buying someone a gift directly, but I highly recommend them. Fabric is definitely the way to go. I also keep any gift bags I get gifts in and reuse them.
The cyclic planning intrigues me and I'd love to learn more about it. Can't wait for the video! The stencil technique is an awesome idea 🤩It turned out super cute. I am, thankfully, almost all set with Christmas presents for this year :D
I can really recommend pillow cases as reusable gift sacks. At this time of year you can also find quite a lot of pillow cases that are christmas themed and have a look at kid's pillow cases both for smaller bags and for more whimsical designs! Also a good thing to thrift 😊
I totally get the whole new year set up vs. last month of the old journal set up -- which is why I made myself do december's layouts FIRST before I could start anything w/the new one ;) loving how the inking came out!!
This is such a cool layout! I love it so much. What a fun idea to do a advent gift calendar with Vogel! I hope we get to see what you include in his gifts or see an opening of advent gifts in a vlog! So fun! 🎄
I love the fairly 'plain' style of your journal - in the sense that it's decorated, but not so full of decorations that you can't really use the pages anymore. They look cute and pretty without feeling overwhelming and I absolutely adore that about your style. I'm gonna try journalling soon, mostly to try and actually work on my thesis this year for university (I've been procrastinating because anxiety), but I'm very perfectionistic and don't want to have to spend wayyy too much time on making spreads that I may not even use (especially if I've made a 'mistake' somewhere and it keeps bothering me), so your style would work really well for this, I think. Thank you for the inspiration, and showing that you don't need to have a ton of talent (I don't mean this in any negative way!!) to create beautiful AND functional spreads :)
I love reusable Christmas bags. Almost all of my bags are from Amazon "gift wrapping" from my parents. They are different sizes of drawstring bags that hide the gift from Amazon.
Oh! On the topic of reusable wrapping: a yoga teacher I heart recommended a type of furoshiki to wrap presents. After Xmas, buy some cute discounted fabrics and build a stash.
Love the spread and the advent idea! I have a savings sinking fund that I start every January - November and that has worked wonders for me in staying in budget.
I was looking at the end of the year for the cyclic planning and hoping 2025 not lining up as nicely as 2024 will be okay in the end lol Here's to hoping we can ignore the need for perfection over practicality! Also the inking looks SO good, the color is consistent and just has a printed quality appearance almost.
For fabric gift bags, around here they are often found at local holiday markets. A little more expensive than what you'll find on Amazon, but I do love to support local! :) Good luck!
This set up has got to be one of the cutest I've seen for Christmas this year. The inked bricks are such a good idea as they make me think of a chimney and Santa using it. And the stickers are too cute. I'm glad you didn't cut off the reindeers legs on that one spread. I think he would have looked strange if you had.
Danke für dein Video 💐. Meine Assoziation zu deinem Dezember Setup war Schornstein 😂. Ganz liebe Grüße Melly ✨ Thank you for your video 💐. My association with your December setup was chimney 😂. Best wishes, Melly ✨
Oh man - I was JUST thinking about getting some ink pads. I'm trying to get a weathered/old document look for my December spread. It's turning out alright with my markers, but I know this would take it to another level!
They would be really useful for that, yeah! Especially ones like the Distress Oxide as you can get colour variation by lightly spraying or flicking water onto the pages 👌 (and then quickly dabbing it with a paper towel or similar, haha 😛 Don't want warped pages!)
Soaking pages in tea or coffee could also work (though I'm not sure how to prevent pages from warping, so you'd have to do a bit of research and/or practice first if that's something you wanna try). Or burning the edges (tip: make the paper wet first, so the burning doesn't travel through the entire page if you're not careful enough; and try on some spare paper first, obviously).
I find things like reusable Christmas present sacks (yes, small personal sized ones) at the dollar store. If you have an equivalent near you I'd suggest looking there 1st!
I thought I was all set up with my washi and stickers and pens and stencils for my journal for 2025 and was congratulating myself…and then I watched this and realised I MUST HAVE that gorgeous gorgeous green ink colour!!! 😅😅😅
I really like the colors of your November pages....where are those washi from? My 2025 journal is going to be using those colors. :) It's outside my normal bright blues and greens, so I'm having issues finding Washi from my stash so Christmas present for me is new Washi!
I presume the inks don’t bleed through to the other side? I used some water reactive crafters companion ones Ona couple of my November pages and it came through to the other side. I think it’s fairly thick, maybe 160gsm
@@JashiiCorrin eventually, thank you! i had to stop watching any videos (because of the migraines) so just got back to finish watching this one (and hopefully get the stencil, lol)
