Thank you for your reviews Christmas I received the Ridgid blackout series since then I have picked up do orbital sander the half inch impact gun for my car and the router for those little projects I do they are freaking great so thank you again so when you guys induce up and down here in Florida like to meet you guys thank you so much for your show

Pretty light for a belt sander. I would like to see a big brother closer to 20 lbs
Are you sure has same power as a corded sander. I used a 18V Makita orbital with 60 grit and took me an hour to remove finish from two wall panels.

On 4ah battery continues run last a good 20 minutes
Mine quit working the second time using it. First time, the belt fell apart quickly. Bought new belts, used it and it quit. Can't finish what I'm working on now.
Wish they kept aeg going in uk shops. Makita and Ryobi are good though.
My death collection haven’t worked since I got the thing as far as I can remember, I’ve blown it out with the air compressor taking it apart tried to figure out what’s wrong any ideas?
Rob , I have heard that Milwaukee is starting to grow the M18 platform to include more woodworking tools but yet to see many, what are your thoughts??

What grit were you using for the runtime test? Would different grits give you different run times?

I might be sold on the corded Ridgid belt sander
This cordless sander and the router makes me think about investing in the Ridgid platform. I really have a strong aversion to cords. The kind of work I do requires portability as I almost never work out of a shop. I am pretty heavily invested in the Milwaukee platform right now though and I am hoping to see these cordless tools from them at some point. One of the main issues I have with Ridgid is that I have read many reviews recounting stories of poor customer service and follow up despite their "lifetime guarantee". Rob, what do you think? Would it hurt to pick up a few Ridgid tools or should I hold my breath for the Milwaukee versions?
I received my Ridgid Cordless Belt Sander today. Love except ..... When connected to my Festool Dust Extractor, I am getting quite a bit of static electricity. I feel it right near the switch. - I am wondering if you have experienced this as well with yours when hooked up to a vac.

At first I would say who would ever need a cordless belt sander, but your comment regarding nosings and scribing as well as other similar tasks would be an ideal use. I don't think it's a high sales volume tool, but it's an interesting offering. As always, great review. Did you happen to make note of how much material was removed from your test jig? Was it noticeable? Measurable?

When do you use a belt sander vs a random orbital sander?

I was wondering when a tool company was going to stick a battery on a belt sander. I have the corded version and I like it. I don't think 15-20 minutes runtime is going to make it worth while for me.

A Concord Carpenter once the battery technology improves, I'm all over it. I've cut the cord on pretty much every tool I have now.
if your already in the ridgid platform itd be easy to make the run time unlimited, id say 3 5ah batteries and 2 chargers that way 2 batteries are charging while one is being used.. not worthwhile if this is your only ridgid tool but if you have a whole line up chances are you have 3 batteries and 2 chargers already
Have you changed your mind now that larger batteries are available?

Weird - I thought they were on the HD website. I do know they sold fast, and may be having stocking issues
Nice to know the decibels but power tools are loud and doesn't matter to me. I'm sure some people might care if there sanding next to a sleeping baby. But hey let's be honest power tool are loud .

I bought the Rigid corded version of this. It broke in an hour of use

DOn't any one kid themselves the lifetime .. yes they will give it butt they make you work for it .... I have an impact driver .... was told by CS just scan it in ... I did it in 1200 DPI you could even see the HD water mark ...yep you guessed it .... Trouble confirming the sale ..>BUT you're good for the 3 YR warranty ..WHAT ?? you accept the receipt for the 3 yr but not the LT . I called up and asked it by chance the file was corrupted maybe ... could I resubmit ... NO ... now she said you COULD send in a copy of the receipt . WHAT a scanned watermark copy was not good enough BUT a copier copy of less quality is ok . WHAT ??? I don't trust them .. I will send in the original . They tell you to " Mailing Address (Certified Mail is recommended):" Get a signature card .. that way they can't lie to you .
No I don';t trust them .. yes they will make it good .. they made good a charger . They will follow the contract ... BUT NO VARIANCE . They will make it difficult .

Dang! Look at 1:00... the drum is way shorter than the platten. Bad design right there.
great eye! You need to keep the belt on the drum
