Correct me if I'm wrong but Hitler telling Rommel to stop was the main reason Brits got away from Dunkirk in first place. Otherwise it would have been a very brutal and dirty massacre.
Interestingly, Italy had a fascist dictatorship before Germany. It created the concept of fascism which the Nazis were then inspired by. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Party#Origins_and_early_years:_1918%E2%80%931923 > Hitler was inspired by Mussolini and the Fascists, borrowing their use of the straight-armed salute as a Nazi salute. When the Fascists came to power in 1922 in Italy through their coup attempt called the "March on Rome", Hitler began planning his own coup. The world "Fascism" comes from "Fasces", which was the symbol used on the flag of the Italian party named after it, the "National Fascist Party". So Italy invented the concept of fascism, the word "fascism" itself, and inspired the Nazi party's ideologies (Nazis weren't always fascists, that wasn't until a group overthrew some prominent members and made it fascist). So in a way, Italy would be more like a "dad" and Germany was the hyperactive son that convinced his dad to join in with his games.

In hoi4 I think the reason why France capitulates after Paris falls is because of the disjointed government thing
National Spirit, disjointed government. It lowers France's surrender limit to holding 80% of Victory Points.
Making them capitulate once they hold 79%>VP.
If you're a player, you have basic understanding of history and therefore will be better prepared to the German attack;
So they made it easier for Germany
This was a great video. Well done! You got my country being conquered correctly. Though why are the allies red? Shouldn't they be blue?
Yes, there are some unwritten rules that the attacker is usually red and the defender blue, or red is the loser and the blue is the winner. But personally, I don't think it matters.
What is that last little red dot in eastern Belgium that disappeared on 29.51940? How did they hold on for so long?
Was wondering the same thing. 19 days?
The Germans were so fast

Excellent job!
It's like watching gray mold overrun a strawberry.
LoL 😀😀
the first time ive seen the allies as the colour red
Yes, when I made this video, I didn't know the rules that blue is a defender and red is an attacker. I just liked the two colors I used.
imagine your summer vacations started in france and ended in germany
Liège and Charleroi holding strong for days while the Flemish and Dutch were like "Oh well who cares. Come on in, here are the Jews and here are their diamonds..."
@Typed Scroll I don't see why you're smirking. Fascists get the wall in the end.
Do you mean the Luxembourgish? Also all three of the Dutch defensive lines had fallen and they were threatening to terror bomb all their cities if they kept fighting.
Nice work

A whole year by hour in only 5 minutes?
Oh, nevermind. It's only 44 days.
That's insane!
The French lost in just 44 days due to generals not evolving from ww1 strategies
@@hvhhvvggg8663 Though in all fairness, the German generals were very surprised as well.
In their case pleasantly, though.
BLITZKRIG tactic
Retrieval of information for this video lasted 4 times longer than the entire 1940 Western Front. Let that sink in. You have been watching only 40 days of fighting.

Am I the only one who finds invasions in mapping satisfying?
Being french, watching this, the biggest trauma of my country, feeling sad :(
same about me being italian and knowing about 43-45
@Thorwin de Gothia no, far less important, it wasn't a total war, it was just a little war with one single battle.
The french guy who led thé troop thought himself as a Napoléon but not at all.
In my head this was an almost insignifiant defeat
c'est vrai ça; La France a beaucoup subit la guerre de 1870
c'est rester en mémoire
@Thorwin de Gothia
Yes, well I confess I don't know much about it, it might be a reason haha
But yes I know for Napoléon III.
I think he was thé Nephew of Napoléon I.
He thought himself as having the same battle skills. He was elected président, but then made a coup and declared himself Emperor. But then I think he got captured at the first battle.
Victor Hugo used to piss on him.

Germans: Btlitzkrieg the shit out of everyone's ass
The guy in the background playing the piano: It's my time to shine
Thank you for a very instructive video presentation of the German invasion! For your information I have added a link to this video in the article about the Battle of France, in the Norwegian Bokmål language version of Wikipedia:
World War II, Western Front 1940, Every Hour
-see link, bottom of page. As a contributor to Wikipedia for many years I understand and appreciate the many hours you must have put into this project. Regarding the books that you have used as a source, I would recommend you also look at The Blitzkrieg Legend: The 1940 Campaign in the West, by colonel and historian Karl-Heinz Frieser, formerly at the Bundeswehr's Militärgeschichtlichen Forschungsamt (MGFA). I hope the link may give your excellent animation even more viewers! Kind regards, Ulf Larsen, Oslo, Norway
Thank you for spreading my work and for the book. I have the impression that I also used something from it. Part of it can be found on google books, where a few pages are available.
One house in Stalingrad stay longer than France)
Really great video but I think making the neutral states blue and the seas/lakes white harder to see at first.
Wow, did the fortress of Liège (I'm guessing, that red area in east Belgium) really hold out until *after* Leopold's surrender ??
beautiful
The beat hits in sync with each hour. Dont know if thags obvious or not, took me a second to figure that out lol
A video for learn...
i know you can upload whatever you want but why youtube only recomends west fron in ww2 its like outube trying to send a mesage
I don't know. When I search for the term Western Front, I also find a lot of videos from the First World War.
Can anyone show me the parts where the allies invaded atleast a little land
0:59 Battle of Montcornet, 1:13 Counterattack near Laon, 1:27 Battle of Arras, 1:32 Counterattack near Cambrai
Delightfully
The walking of This video took longer than the Invasion
The thumbnail really confused me because I'm used to blue representing seas and white representing land on maps
This is either inspired by those mappers in the description or by yan xihan
You should have mentioned what green and yellow color signifies in this video.
Please do 100 years war every hour

Incredible how fast it was just of been overwhelming for the British and French who were probably thinking it will be like the first just get cut off and destroyed
It is not only the gun and bullet, but the flesh and blood used to fire it.
Why there little dot in Belgium?(holded by Alliee powers)
There are many dots, specify the time.

When you’re chilling at the Maginot Line but then you saw German tanks
France: Yep, I’m now fucked.
Well I believe the Germans were waiting to clear that picket of French/British troops before they pushed forward. After the pocket was cleared the French were outnumbered by like 500,000. It’d be difficult to stop the Germans at that point considering they couldn’t stop them even with equal numbers.
Very very good
Well, that france thing went way easier than Poland or Belgium..
