I grew up with a Barbet. Got him when I was 3, he was about the same age. He lived to a ripe old 18. Was the most docile, obedient, loving and caring dog I could ever have experienced. Will own one again. They're more like family than people can be.

Thanks for this informational video. I’ve had a barber for 2yrs and he is the sweetest, most loving, supportive and funny dog I’ve ever see or had. He makes my day every day. And I highly recommend a barbet. They are easy to train and are extremely intelligent! (I will mention though, they can definitely be bigger than described here. My barbet is almost 26 inches and 75 pounds. He is not fat at all but very muscular) As well as very loyal. Also, barbet is also Barbe which is beard in French.

They remind me so much of my lovely, dearly missed Portuguese Water Dog. Porties though very sweet and affectionate are not velcro dogs, love fuss but can also be independent and can be reserved with strangers.
I fancy a Barbet but might find the velcro style a bit too much, They are lovely though, just curly mudlarks.

Best breed in the world. Better than any "Doodle".

Sure! Every person has their own unique preference when it comes to breeds of dogs. However, it's important to remember that each breed has its own unique set of traits, temperaments, and characteristics, and what may be the best for one person may not be the best for another. Instead of focusing on one breed being better than another, it might be more helpful to consider what specific traits and qualities you are looking for in a pet and then research breeds that align with those qualities. That way, you can find a furry companion that fits best with your lifestyle and personality.

@@Mr.BullDogUnboxing I think the point here is that a "Doodle" is not a purebred dog, but a mix of several breeds...

@@Lykkeland-Barbetmutts can be great dogs also! And mixing can help with health issues if done well. I used to think doodles were “bad” also but after following functional breeding pages I’ve learned a lot about their work toward making purebreds healthier and it’s super interesting.
Ultimately, dog breeds are a personal choice and any dog breed that becomes popular will always have crappy breeders involved, including purebreds

Really informative, nice to watch but I wish the narrator had practiced reading more frequently to improve her flow, modulation and intonation. She sounds like she’s reading most of this for the first time.
