Series 2 of Bad Movie Beatdown comes to a close as Film Brain celebrates the 50th episode! Season 2, Episode 33.

Originally posted in November 2010, this was the final episode of the second season of the show (with the exception of the two Christmas specials that year) and was the 50th episode. This re-edited version has the usual changes I've applied to this re-posts, which tighten up the pacing and editing, and runs 1m 39s shorter than the original. This is the second of my re-posts to tie into Murder on the Orient Express, another mystery that has Derek Jacobi in it, although I re-edited it for another film I saw for Projector with Jacobi in that I will hopefully get to soon. I think this is an underrated episode, and features one of the most preposterous twists ever featured on the show, so hopefully this will reveal this episode to more viewers.
are you ever gonna make new bad movie beat down episodes?
"What in the holy name of f(bleep)!?" That is my favorite Bad Movie Beatdown moment ever. This is one of your best episodes, Matthew.
Film Brain did you review Night at the Museum 2? Because I can't find your review anywhere.
I bought this on ebay for 50p and showed it to my parents for christmas. they now tell me " i owe them big time".
Just a theory but I think tramp Dickens is supposed to be a ghost. That's the only reason I see why he'd be alive
The under-title of this movie was "Some secrets should stay hidden." How very ironic of a movie that was never released.
That tagline was a warning!
" Let's make a movie about riddles .... and let's cast the whole crew from Lock , Stock and Two Smoking Barrels ..."
Plus Derek Jacobi and Vanessa Redgrave! Oh..okay.
19:45 I think the implication was supposed to be that the mud was jamming his gun. But the mud looked neither thick enough nor could it have gone into the mechanisms that makes the gun fire properly based on how the gun was positioned.
If I keep watching this review, I will eventually be able to understand what's happening in the movie.
That's the same reason I keep watching this review, to try and remember what the movie's about. Sad when the most comprehensible thing about the movie for me is "Charles Dickens is an immortal bum."
I actually own a book that was published in 1888, which is later than anything Dickens ever wrote, and the pages are so yellowed, brittle and fragile I can't even turn them without them fragmenting. Paper from that era is unbelievably delicate due to the acid that was used in making it. The pages Vinnie Jones is carrying around with him should have disintegrated from the careless way he was treating them.
After that pizza delivery scene I got a Pizza Hut ad lol
Did you leave it to go cold for extra authenticity?
The tagline for this film says some secrets should stay hidden. I think it was a warning..
The return of another BMB Classic!
This episode is amazing. I've heard of obscure films but one this obscure with this many well known actors is something special!
Happy 50th, Film Brain!
He's not that old!
My grandparents have the newspaper DVD of this in a binder, I never knew that it was first released in the Daily Mail
Obviously Charles Dickens is a vampire. ;-)
(And before anyone says anything, in actual folklore and even in Dracula vampires can go out during the daytime. Vampires dying in sunlight is a Hollywood myth, not actual folklore.)
haha, i love how "this made up fictional stuff" is treated as some kind of fact over 'that other made up fictional stuff".
This review is great. Doesn't seem to explain how Dickens became immortal, though I suspect the film didn't do a great job of that.
Vanessa Redgrave, Derek Jacobi, Vera Day, and... Vinnie Jones.
One of these things is not like the others, one of these things can't act to save his life.
Vinnie jones making a movie career for himself really tickles me, he's a legend, can't act but still no one's gonna say that to his face are they!
Not much of a looker, either
No wonder he became a homicidal butcher on a Subway Train.
I'm still enjoying Yuri uploading these things, gives me a chance to catch up on your work. Hope you're having a wonderful day God bless!
I swear, this film's plotting is so convoluted, I can barely follow what the hell is even going on at any given moment, even with you explaining it as best as you can. What a damned mess, even for a clearly very cheap-looking film.
And Redgrave and Cox slumming it in this ? Ungh. Ladies, you can do better.
Jacobi doesn't surprise me as much. He and Ben Kingsley appear in bloody everything. :-D
Who's Julie Cox? I've never seen her in anything else
It must be the only film on the IMDb to have it's distributor listed as The Mail On Sunday.
Yessss, I'm so glad to see this episode again! This is one of my favourite Film Brain episodes!
20:32-20:35
This has to be made into a GIF.
That was pretty much everyone's reaction to the last season of game of thrones.
Great as always!
I've rewatched this review many times and I will take the plot twist to my grave as well
Always one of my favorites!
Vinnie Jones being in this movie means one thing: it's gonna be EMOTIONAL!!!
I spied at least 3 lock stock actors in the riddle...they should have utilised Cockney rhyming slang with the title "The Jimmy Riddle" it's certainly a shower of piss 🤣
That last part reminded me of "Dear sister"
Mmmm whatcha say...
Flim Brian!
Is there a review of Fatal Deviation somewhere?
Did phelous ever actually review that bog bodies film? I feel the need to either subject myself to it, or watch someone else suffer in my place
I've had a copy of it for years that I've never got around to watching.
Film Brain 1) thank you so much for replying! Hope you are having a great day/night. 2) I'm shocked that you, phelous, or Brad haven't reviewed it yet! I guess I'll have to track it down and see how bad it is for myself
As far as I know, still nope. I really hope he goes back to reviewing crappy horror movies instead of the plethora of crappy goodtimes or dingo “animated” pictures, bootleg toys from 90s series, and haunted tours. And currently I enjoy film brain bashing B rank action flicks, with rants & SYMBOLISM!!! and rocking out to his theme song.
Ghost rider 1, the pirates of the Caribbean movies and the haunted mansion are still childhood favorites of mine and I’m too scared to hear him rant about it but curious of the video at the same time
Legend Of The Bog. Appropriate name for a giant turd.
Legend Of The Bog. Did Vinnie Jones have a dodgy Vindaloo and they made a film about it?
15:42 Full song here ua-cam.com/video/3wsGaRbZi9c/v-deo.html
Not sure on the artist or the exact title but it was featured in Secret Diary of a Call Girl
Those guys were trying to make world's dumbest criminals weren't they?
What’s the song at the end? Kinda sounds like low-budget Weezer, lol.
"Newspaper"
So disappointed this was not a Batman villain origin story!
Damn... Still no Vinnie Jones from Phelous...
He did review midnight meat train.
I was expecting him to do a riddler skit at the beginning and at 3:05 (jumpcuts to jumanji). Sorry I may have watched too many Phelous and NC reviews.
Lol!
Hey its mary shelley
Because he is The master XDDDD
The end is almost like a goodbye. But we know film brain didn’t die so I find this confusing knowing the future he does projector now. So I don’t get it
It is a goodbye to a friend who was working on episodes with me.
I get that the funeral music is not a copyrighted tune, but why did they use football commentary?
Could be cause of laziness
@@scottylewis8124 It's bizarre. There's tons of Copyright Free Music out there, but Football Commentary! It's like the editor dropped in the wrong audio file and it's never been changed.
For your next review, Check out Bucky Larson
The sound mixing for the montage at the end is terrible.
Call yourself British?! IT'S PRONOUNCED 'HANGED'!
I don’t mind your projector series but is bad movie beat down dead?
There have only been 3-5 episodes in the last 2 years. I’m just disappointed because I miss your analysis.
No, I've just been busy.
Oh okay. Thank u for a quick response.
Omen 4 is great.
Have you even read the reviews for that one? Worst sequel ever?
Review snatch and midnight meat train.
Midnight meat train was legit a good film. it's based on a short story by Clive Barker.
Why does the British press hate humanity
Or he could be a descendant of Dickens.
That's not what they're implying.
This was basically Se7en with a serious head injury.
