    (12-15) how does it become positive.

      In case of x2
      12-15=-3
      In case of x1
      15-12=3
      end ans =whether it is positive or negative, considered to be same because of two tail test.

      Thank you for your reply. I'm solving a problem where when I doing x1-x2 final t value becomes -7.23 where as x2-x1 it becomes +7.23 so in in 1st scenario I'm rejecting null hypothesis whereas in 2nd scenarion failing to reject null hypothesis with 10 deegree of freedom. Pls explin im confused. Thank you in adv.

      @@ganeshkevane9897 for this firstly you have to understand the two tailed or one tail( right or left) test..

      @@ganeshkevane9897 if you are dealing with one tail test than u have to take one value whether it is positive or negative ( positive value in case of right tail test and negative value in case of left tail test)..if u are dealing with two tail test than any value (negative or positive) gives u same answer.
