Tawaun Williams , not really. the Klipsch RP160 & RP600Ms are just as good if not better for half the cost. same for JBL Arena 130s or Studio 220s. all 4 of those speakers are hundreds less and are just as good if not better. I have a pair of the Klipsch RP600Ms in cherry and a pair of the RP500Ms in the Piano high gloss black hand rubbed finish. absolutely beautiful speakers. supream sound and ultra efficient. get yourself a Yamaha 100 wpc/rms receiver for only $120 on Amazon and your all set. has Bluetooth also. Onkyo has a 50wpc/rms receiver with a subwoofer output for only $120 also
Those 707 deserve the top spot. They are tremendous. In my view they are worth the price. Who can do better? Now, really? The 607 does a commendable job, but in the 600€ segment there is fierce competition and more A/B comparisons would be needed to declare a winner. (Let's try a scramble for this slot, it would be a lot of fun and receive plenty of attention). For just a bit more (up to 800) you have the very convincing Dynaudio M20's, entry level Dalis and quite a few others. But the proof of the pudding is in the tasting.
Definitely the 707, cleaner clearer and a totally better mix, just for the record i use to own the B&W cm5s2 which preceded the 707 but had the yellow kevlar cone, the Klipsch RP 160m which i also have outperformed the B&W easily, you didn't need to concentrate it was obvious
To me the 707 just sounds bright, as i have it myself. It clear, but not having enough body. For the price, I would go with the 606 as it has not that far off. I also believe that system synergy has more impact to overall sound. I am driving mine with Rotel and tube pre amplification upstream.
Have you heard the 606? I have it at home now auditioning. I like it overall, but I never understood what people meant when they said the treble was "forward" until I started sitting down for critical listening and comparing them to my existing speakers. The treble is really ...forward. I wouldn't say bright, it just really pushes the treble notes. Even so, I'm not saying that's bad, it's just weird to hear sounds in my music that I'm used to being more in the background sounding more predominant. I was thinking of comparing to the 707 with the better tweeter, although that's a lot more money for a smaller footprint. I guess I'll experiment with my tone controls.
L D yes, I did after I owned the 707. I’m sorry but that was not how I heard it in my setup. I would guess, it must be the room acoustic that affects how I perceived the presentation of the 606 vs 707.

Nice demo. To my ears the 707s seem to allow the character of each instrument to be heard more clearly which enhances the sensation of a group of musicians playing together and as a result produces a performance which I find more musically engaging.
I respect with both of you for the cost value definitely the 607 are worth it if you’re willing to go the extra miles and wallet cash for the extra then you’d be rewarded but I would also wonder how the 606 were compared to the 707 s2
707 very rich, vivacious. This little tiddler rocks in a big way. Accurate, beautifully rendered voice, strings, piano, good drums. Little or no sibilance. Good definition all things considered. I enjoyed it hugely! :-) 607 a bit more mellow, which sound good but also fun. Guitar excellent, voice very good, rhythm section initially a bit veiled, piano excellent. Final climax with a little less resolution compared with 707, but very good nevertheless.
You can really hear the difference between the older double dome aluminum tweeter and the new carbon tweeter. The new carbon tweeter wins out hands down. I have a pair of B&W CM-10 S1's, but I bought the new HTM71 center channel to listen to the difference myself. Even though I love the CM-10's, I can hear how much more articulate, clear and natural the newer carbon tweeter sounds in the new center channel. I plan to upgrade to the 702's soon, as soon as I sell the CM-10's. But as far as money goes, I think the 607's would make great surrounds, as that's what I would use them for. I currently have two pair of B&W DM-602 S3's, one of which I'm using for surrounds now. I'd love to hear a comparison between the DM-602 S3 and the new 607's. Magnolia Theater has told me that I can bring a pair of my 602's in and they'll hook them up and play them side by side. You could save me the trouble... ;)
The B&W 707 S2 are very small, compact loudspeakers with precise sound, but little/not enough volume and bass. I would rather try/take the 706 S2. I was also very satisfied with the Klipsch 600M.
the 707 were better but the 607 are half the price. The 607 seem to have more than only half the performance though. Which makes them a bit of bargain. They are so close that I think you would only notice if you were comparing them side by side (like here :) )
If my fronts are 805d3 and center is HTM2D3, would the 607 be good enough for my surrounds? The problem is the place i would put them in is quite tight and the depth size of the 707 is much deeper than the smaller 607 but the question is, can the 607 keep up with my other speakers? My room is only small at 4m x 4.5m x 2.4m height (18sqm or 1500cuft). Amp is marantz pre plus emotiva xpa6 for surrounds and atmos and rotel rmb1858 for LCR. Subs are dual PSA3611 (18").
bs1820 I have heard both of these speakers in person and owned the 606 for a few months before upgrading to the 602. So yes I’m not judging these speakers from a UA-cam video, but personal experience.
bs1820 You can also use a good quality headphone, for example I have Senheiser hd 650 and Chord Mojo dac/amp that clearly shows the difference between the 2 speakers even over UA-cam.
myplaguesify I have the new 602 which is basically the tower version. It’s also a 3 way. Yes it has a fuller sound and more than twice as expensive as the 606. If you have the space for a tower speaker and the budget than I would strongly recommend the 602.

As already mentioned for half the price. A horn loudspeaker alone is a different league if it is used correctly. Even if B&W is a great company. myplaguesify Not sure about the rp 160m. But having owned both the 606 and the rp 600m at the same time and comparing it, to me the 606 sounded better in every genre. The quality of the 606 is on another class.
myplaguesify You can get away without a sub on 606. The bass is tight and very quick and substantial for its size. But if you want bass that can be felt below 45hz, you will need a sub with any speaker in this size range.

The upper high freq. on 707 are on a different level comare to 607 (707 is much better) The dynamics on 707 is better. On the other side, the tonal balance on 707 is bright. Its not shrill but just too much high freq. The tweeter on 707 is really good and B&W tried to express it in the overall sound but IMO it is just a bit too much. PS The piano sounds better on 707 to.
@@Tharbamar i got them yesterday and instructions clearly states do not put anything inside the stands, and they fairly heavy , listening to 607 yesterday, they connected thru yamaha a-s201 amp, i had monitor audio bronze 100 with same amp, and 607 maybe producing nicer overall sound, but at lower volume 6.5” woofer definitely gives more weight in sound and warmer bass, also above 80db volume the 607 cant handle much bass, had to turn down to bass +2 or even zero. They play nice have to say, just missing that power that 6’5” woofer can give. So will send 607 back and get 606 instead. So now hopefully I’ll get the same good sound but with more weight behind bass and also ability to handle more power without struggling. Audio monitors had no struggle at all handling full power 100db, 607 very nice but only within they limit outside their limit you can tell bass gets boxy not kind 6.5” woofer gives on minitor audios. So will get 606 hoping will be better all round. After more extensive research Now got real headache, 606 or 607s2 ? Whathifi said that 606s2 over 606 are significantly improved, im thinking 607s2 might be better sounding that 606, and since 606s2 according to whathifi got better bass than 606, i might find that 607s2 just about enough for me and no need for bigger 606. Nicholas Too no no no, don't waste ur money. get the Klipsch RP150 OR 160s. they are much better at hundreds less in cost. and have a variety of finishes including a and lacquered super high gloss black piano finish that is out of this world beautiful
B&w 606. I just purchased the speakers and the stand. My question is if you lay the speakers on those small top spikes or if you improvised something. I have a 2 year old at home and using the spikes will now work for me. Do you know any other safe method to use this stand or any other stands for 606? Ty!
Not worth the jump for twice the price. There are so many $1200 speakers that are better. For $200 you can upgrade the crossover and make the cheaper speaker better and save money.
These sound demos are for me totally useless, play more rock and pop music and not only acoustic music because it gives me nothing, I don't listen to acoustic music. Play Rammstein, Guns n Roses, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Oasis, Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest etc etc.
No worries, That’s why I choose this track because it will show real character of each speaker across the frequency range, please remember music choice is very limited for monetized channel.
I never understand these videos, what we hear as a viewer is only as good as our playback equipment used, our headphones or speakers will never fully justify the true sound, we will all hear something different. If i fart in my room and describe the smell to you, its fair to say that you will get a fair idea but not the full experience that i get! 😉
thestr8jacket1 you don’t need to understand at all because these are meant to have some taste and no body is asking anyone to decide their speakers solely base on UA-cam demos. This is how is going to be in the future because there is no place or only few places left to audition the speakers.
Usually a good pair of headphones/earphones can be used to get a sense of the differences and any glaring issues. Better if you can check if the headphones have a flat frequency response

707 seems far superior, although got rather congested when the music got more complex. Much more and better bass.

Will these speakers sound a lot better then the dm302 i currently have? Had the 804n before and didnt like them on my Yamaha mx1000 and Cx1000.
I do not think these will work well with your Yamaha combo, I would suggest KEF R3 or R300 for you.

Love the detail in the highs, just gets fatiguing after a while. Like I want the drummer to lay off the cymbals so I can enjoy the song better.

I just purchased the speakers and the stand.
My question is if you lay the speakers on those small top spikes or if you improvised something.
I have a 2 year old at home and using the spikes will now work for me.
Do you know any other safe method to use this stand or any other stands for 606?

Not worth the jump for twice the price.
There are so many $1200 speakers that are better.
For $200 you can upgrade the crossover and make the cheaper speaker better and save money.

These sound demos are for me totally useless, play more rock and pop music and not only acoustic music because it gives me nothing, I don't listen to acoustic music.
Play Rammstein, Guns n Roses, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Oasis, Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest etc etc.

Aaaah!!! Tharbamar, with all due respect...OK vocals sound good but that boring lame ass demo tune makes everything suck with its overblown bass.
No worries, That’s why I choose this track because it will show real character of each speaker across the frequency range, please remember music choice is very limited for monetized channel.

I never understand these videos, what we hear as a viewer is only as good as our playback equipment used, our headphones or speakers will never fully justify the true sound, we will all hear something different. If i fart in my room and describe the smell to you, its fair to say that you will get a fair idea but not the full experience that i get! 😉
thestr8jacket1 you don’t need to understand at all because these are meant to have some taste and no body is asking anyone to decide their speakers solely base on UA-cam demos. This is how is going to be in the future because there is no place or only few places left to audition the speakers.
Usually a good pair of headphones/earphones can be used to get a sense of the differences and any glaring issues. Better if you can check if the headphones have a flat frequency response

Definitely the 707, cleaner clearer and a totally better mix, just for the record i use to own the B&W cm5s2 which preceded the 707 but had the yellow kevlar cone, the Klipsch RP 160m which i also have outperformed the B&W easily, you didn't need to concentrate it was obvious
