      Winner angler Greg Blanchard, of Seneca Falls, New York, credits his win to “doing something a lot different” than most anglers in the tournament. “I found a really good finesse-style jig bite on long tapering points, picking up reaction bites. I really had to snap the jig to work through the rocks and every time I’d get the snag out a fish would smash the jig. It was probably the best jig bite I’ve ever had. Every fish I caught in the tournament was on a jig,” says Blanchard.“The first day I caught 35 or 40 fish. On Day 2 I visited the same long tapering points and I was hoping to find a new wave of fish. The sun on the second afternoon brought out a bigger class of fish and I only had about 12 bites but the fish were definitely of a better, bigger quality. I changed from green pumpkin to a black and blue jig on Sunday to match the dirty water and that definitely did the trick,” adds Blanchard.

    Way to persevere! Fishing in those conditions all day is legit! The grit and determination from Day One ends up paying OFF! 💰 💰 🏆! Yeah buddy!

I can’t decided if I need to mount transducer to the bottom of the boat or get the arm attachment. What’s your personal thoughts on it brother? I have a bass boat and i know I mounted those off the back but I’ve never had a kayak so not sure which would give me the best picture! Anyways thanks in advance and tight lines!

    @greg blanchard....first off id like to say thanks for all the time you put in youre videos, i really enjoy watching you explore new places and i think youre kayak is super awesome...keep uploading content you have a great personality and you really make the viewer go on the voyage with you...
    However being a tournament fisherman myself, i feel sometimes youre overlooking the bigger picture when it comes to finding fish and establishing what people would call a winning pattern...for example those fish you were catching are GREAT fish for here in new jersey...but in Cali those fish wont get you very far....theres literallly probably tons of fish 6, 7 , 8lbs and better swimming around in that lake...if your catching fish almost identical or sub par in size off a point and you know that those fish are somewhat inferior or mediocre for that area...immediately in youre mind you should be thinking about what needs to change to get you tournament winning quality fish....those fish mostly looked like small males which are usually the first to move up...if youre not seeing any drastic upgrades i think the best bet would be to pull out deeper where obviously the heftier females are hanging out...its easy to get caught up on catching fish becahse after all who dosent lik to catch fish? But at the end of the day you only need to catch 5 of the right ones...if i was catching fish under 3lbs or just a tad over in california in a tournament...id be panicking like crazy...just my 2 cents...hope you had a good finish and maybe we can chat and theorize sonetime...cheers

      Thanks man! The boundary boots are okay for warmer months. I've worm them all summer and never really had an issue. • @GregBlanchardFishing
      @GregBlanchardFishing  5 років тому

      Great question. this was a unique lake in that there were fish everywhere and lots of them. Day before this I was catching fish at the same rate. Bite would slow down after a bunch of fish but when I'd go back the spot would replenish. I actually wasn't worried about ruining the spots on day 1. I was more concerned with getting to 80'' but it never happened. That being said ,this is probalby one of the few lakes that has that many 14-15 inch spotted bass

      well this tournament i couldn't use it since it was against the rules. normal tournament i use it to take me from place to place. usually cover 8-10 miles and don't feel exhausted at the end of the day. Whether they should be allowed in "kayak" tournaments is another story but so long as they're legal I'll use it. Totally worth it in my mind since I'll be fishing 15-20 tournaments this year.
