Im kinda sad you dont get to paint everything you want on this channel because thats how UA-cam works, I would love to see you paint anything besides portraits even if its an unpopular opinion 😂💜

    • @skylorean

Does UA-cam favor portraits? I feel like IG always promotes more simple artwork than portraits (my specialty) and if feels like I’m doing the hard thing for nothing. I would love to see people do what they enjoy rather than to work for the alg0rithm.

AGREED!! personally i love seeing what elements ppl chose to make more detailed and what/how something is left more for the viewer to infer/interpret. Also w styles like tepes where it's stylized realism it's fun to see the progression of what shapes n brush(strokes? Textures?) become go-tos hehehe

I think the art community is very centered around portraits and whether an art piece looks "good" or "bad." Measures in improvement are only shown in an outer perspective, measuring not the personal growth of the artist, but whether the subject looks "prettier." I'd also love to see more still life and backgrounds, and will continue to support you no matter what! Thank you for bringing such amazing videos.

I enjoyed watching you paint the still life and seeing how you placed the colors! I feel like your enjoyment showed through that painting the most. I think it would be lovely to see you paint some landscapes and still lifes more often! Especially since that is what you enjoy and are more interested in.:)

Well I have always enjoyed your watercolors! I started painting with watercolors at 10 years old. I just turned 60 but I have worked with all types of mediums and every subject! I had a reasonably successful art career, well I paid my bills and have a house to live in. I would love to have a big fat bank account, but I am happy and that is no small thing! I use mostly DaVinci watercolor paints, but I have several brands and have used even more over the years. I encourage you to keep painting and just paint what you love and people will find you!
I did and I have been watching quite a while. I do not need these paints, so I hope the people who enter will enjoy them when they win!

I love that you also show your painting processes that are in your opinion not perfect, I mean I love the first one here, but as you said you overworked it I could see what you mean in comparison to your other pieces, and I love that you show, that not every single painting is a major sucess and that its totally normal! Thank you!

loved the paintings. I love landscapes a whole lot. That's what I usually paint. And you're right, no, these are not favoured on social media at all. When your living depends on it and get that 100% so I understand all the portraits. Hopefully when you can afford to, I'd get to see how you paint landscapes on here. really loved the still life, gave me so much encouragement.
    have a good one.

I got this set and I loved it except the violet! I don’t know what it was but it was like it had a film on it that absorbed water but didn’t allow me to pick up any pigment? But it’s easy enough to switch it out for a pan of Windsor and newton violet or another brand. The sepia, burnt umber and burnt sienna were gummy and had chunks but what I did wrong was put a drop of water in each pan before I started painting and worked from that drop. If I just go in with a wet brush and wet the entire pan I have much better luck. I love the set, I love my 48 Paul Ruben’s set in the pink tin, the opera colors in the tube and the new layered colors are all awesome. So I tried to email Paul Ruben’s to get those 4 pans replaced and my email kept being returned saying that it couldn’t be sent that the email address didn’t exist. I know they have a team that works in the US market but it sucks I can’t get a hold of them. I wanted so badly to love that set. And I realize 50$ isn’t a ton of money for Artist grade sets but I still shouldn’t have to replace any pans if I paid $50. The rest of the colors were amazing. I just mixed this set with some from the 48 set I have and I usually use them in conjunction with my White Nights as they’re very similar. They’re great, I enjoy using them especially when I need watercolors that are controllable and I need them to behave and stay where I put them. I go for other brands for granulating colors.

I'm an artist and tattoo artist in Las Vegas, Nevada. I used to prefer oils and acrylics, & I thought I strongly disliked watercolors. I'm a huge proponent of learning mediums I don't think I enjoy, or that I've a hard time with. It turned out that I'd unfortunately had a poor experience with watercolor in my younger years entirely due to the low quality of the paints, tools, and especially the paper. It's now my FAVORITE medium! (Even though my audience/clients prefer my graphite pieces.) I would absolutely love to try these paints!
Your watercolor examples are wonderful, and I enjoy your content. Your art is your art. Paint what you want to paint. Draw what you want to draw. I understand where you're coming from, entirely, as a fellow artist. I create what I wish to, but I also try to simultaneously produce artwork in the vein I'm aware people enjoy. Do both! 💜

I thought your portraits and still life turned out exceptional even if you did slightly overwork the first one. I could see you struggle with it and figured you preferred gouache or dig art as your preferred form. Life is not about algorithms. Do what you love and people will come. I just turned 50 and this has been a lesson reinforced many times over. Also around 35, you will find you stop caring 100 percent what people want or need all the time and reprioritize. (I have no clue how old you are, but that was my experience and this freedom from caring truly liberated me in more ways than one). I know your videos are your moneystream, but I really love learning gouache as well as landscapes and still life paintings despite portraits being my go to. I think its bec its out of my comfort zone and I'm always trying to learn. I'll watch your landscapes, but you're talented in both mediums and what ever you are painting be it portrait, or still life. Take the win and enjoy the journey friend.

I don't really like portraits personally, if you made a shift to landscapes and still lifes I would personally eat it up lol. It makes sense that the majority of your audience likes seeing portraits because that is the majority of the content you produce, you built your audience around them. By that logic, you could start making content outside of portraits and you would start to build a new audience. I hate the idea that you get to Do What You Love™ but also not really, obviously things are always more complicated than they seem but I hope you try it out.

You sound like you didn't enjoy the paints, which is totally cool and fine, we all have preferences, but forced yourself to say something positive about them only because you were sent the supplies and had to do so

They paid you with free supplies. Why would you say you weren't paid when you were. It isn't their fault you came cheap.

That's not being paid. Being paid is being given MONEY. They gave her their product to review, that's not payment, that is facilitating what THEY want.
The only other option would be to make her pay for the product, and that's one thing if she bought something and reviewed it but they can't REQUEST a review from a public figure and then make them pay for the product to review it. That's not how this works.

@@LangkeeLongkee oh you poor thing. It is being paid. She sold herself for the price of the product. What you seem to not be able to comprehend is telling the truth about a product means paying for your own product. It's sad that you do not know how the world works. Poor thing, I feel so bad that you don't understand how the world works.

I have been keen on using and practicing with higher quality watercolors, especially Paul Rubens 🥰 I still use my first watercolor set 😂 so it would be nice to branch out 🤍 plus it seems like it would compliment my current art style 🥰 you have been so generous with giveaways, thank you! We’re so spoiled hehe.

@melanwen I recently lost my job and want to start to pursue a more artistic career. I love painting and art since I was a little child and got caught up in this crazy capitalistic world that just takes things from us and gives nothing back. I only tried cheap versions of watercolor but its an art form that I both love and hate... its beautiful and unexpected, but we have to wait for it to dry lol
Also would like to add that you don't have to make an specific painting because your followers likes it better... of course they help you get your bills paid, but it's beautiful to see people making what they love and explaining why you love it. I hope you have a nice week and I can't wait to see more videos of landscape paintings 😊

I really enjoyed all the paintings in this video and am a huge fan of how watercolors look for portraits, however I prefer painting landscapes myself. lately I’ve been choosing gouache to do that, but use it with a lot of water, so it’s more of a watercolor feel sometimes, but I would love the chance to experiment with a higher quality watercolor paint that’s already in palette form. The best I’ve tried is Windsor & newton cotman . Would also be interested to see more of your landscape paintings @sarah.Goelz

@Yarisart_ I don’t often go to watercolors and I’ve recently started getting back into doing art heavily again, I know that a good set would definitely give me that extra push. I’ll also be re attending college for art soon and you can never have too many art supplies for that. Thank you for the chance to win these gorgeous sets 😋🎨💞

What really attracts me to the watercolor set is really the color range the colors of the set really harmonize with each other and I've heard nothing but good things about the brand from many of my favorite artists such as Victoria gedvillas and wero no yume ,it would be just lovely to have a set of my own to play around with
