I feel the same. I totally love BMWs but Mercedes is doing a really great job in the recent time. Not a long time ago I wouldnt have said that. But now I really could imagine to own a Benz. The new ones are not comparable to the Mercs 10 or even 5 years ago. And even loving BMW I have to admit that their interior is not as good as a Merc's or Audi's. I really hope they'll change it in the future. Greetings from Germany, keep up the good work ;)

Great review Nick. I am always interested in your views because of your car history. One thing I always wonder is how the panoramic sun roof affects head room. I saw you are going to spec that option on your Porsche.

I like this car. Other than the price, it's very practical. It's a good size, has enough of HP, and AWD for the snow. Just have to wait 2 years and pick up a used one.

Another great video. I used to own a C64 too. I remember Flimbo's Quest and Navy Seals. There was some crazy game which had a name like 'Crazy Eddie's Bug Top Circus' or something. As for the car, I agree about the fit and finish of the buttons and touchable surfaces. BMW take note.

How do you compare the handling/ steering/ braking/ suspension of C450 to Macan S with PASM? Which one you like more?
Nick - now that you have also done a review on the M2, how would you compare the M2 with the C450 AMG? I have ordered an M2 but the long wait time is killing me and I am now looking for alternatives.
Is that a weather radar in the main screen during most of the video?

Some reviews mention that the C450 has noticeable turbo lag and slower transmission than the BMW 340xi. Did you feel that way? Also, what's your view on the runflats? Thanks!

+Ronald Lo I found that in the C300 but not in this car. Still the transmission is the strong point for the BMW.

+Soultraveler Yes I will review a 340 as soon as I can. So far I have been pretty disappointed with the 340-B58. Why do you need AWD? Snows on a M3 work just as well.

+Soultraveler It is smoother than the outgoing engine but no faster, some test have shown it is slower. It felt slower to me.
+Nick Murray I might have to do another test drive then. Dyno numbers are showing it has 320 wheel hp which is pretty impressive. I was hoping to have the PowerKit (360hp/369lb-ft ) installed by the time my car hit port but it looks like they have delayed it to perhaps release it same time as m3/m4 PowerKit coming sometime in February or March. I do much prefer the dual clutch in the m3/m4 rather than full auto in 340. Eighter car i get i'm going individual with Nardo grey exterior. Thanks for your input again.

This may sound like a strange comparison, but I'm trying to choose between a C450 or a Macan Diesel/Turbo? Since you have driven both can you give me your opinion on which one is better?
I say Macan Diesel. More Luxurios, sportier (believe it or not), faster for everyday, torque and awd. Good luck.

How do you compare this car to BMW 340 or 435GC for example?
Can you do a comparo of its BMW competition etc.
Second, can you provide us with some of the options this car has and the MSRP, there are some comments here suggesting it cost $70k and I've very well equipped cars with the options i saw in your video in the range of $62-65k top.

+Rob Lycan This car was $68,000 with all the options I showed which is pretty much everything. I really don't think you need to go over board with options but it is always tempting. The C class has always lagged behind BMW in transmissions and handling but this car almost closes the gap. The BMW's have really fallen behind with there interiors. I will review a 340i soon.

I don't really like the look of the current C-class, but like you i'm coming around to Merc as a brand. What really changed it for me is that they're building cars that handle far better than they used to. What's keeping me back is the way they look, all of them.

Nick, I gotta ask the stupid question: BMW 3 or Merc C? I am interested in the handling, feeling, stability, confidence they inspire while being pushed through corners, etc.
From what you're telling us in this video, the 3 series ain't got nothing on the C and I'm sorry to say that the upcoming model doesn't look promising either.
+mowglilp The 3 series still has a better transmission and offers RWD. The Merc has closed the gap in almost every other way however.

Grant Rodgers The C450 AMG is AWD only. The C300 standard is RWD and so is the C63. We want to see a RWD C450 AMG.

Rob Lycan Yeah, sure. But RWD will be cheaper and lighter. The power will not overwhelm the rear wheels. You will have much better turn in with RWD and better MPGs as well.

I wonder how reliable these are over M235i/M240i. BMW and Audi are now on top of consumer reports for reliability, MB not so much. I have 2-series now and want to switch later in 2018. Thinking 2012 ISF, but I really like this C-class too

+Biju Mj Actually Grip magazine interviewed the interior design lead at Mercedes, and the screen was purposefully placed there, they did alot of testing with windscreen clarity, distractions, glare, and in cabin visibility and this was the ideal location. Mercedes doesn't do things for looks, rather functionality, safety, and ease of use. If you want something to work right get a Merc, if you want something to look good get a BMW.
A Jovial UA-cam commenter I'd have to disagree nick said the lane assist was not effective. Hardly technology that works when you can see the car wandering across the white lines..

Last year's C400 buyers are probably wishing they waited. Glad my C300 was not changed.
C450 is just a C400 with a slight boost upgrade 329 to 364, same 7 speed gtronic transmission albeit with a more rear biased torque distribution and slightly snappier.
I don't suppose you could review an AMG GTS and a new Smart Car, maybe in the same episode?

Not a fan of the looks of this thing on the outside. Rear brakes look super small. Wonder how performance in general compares to a 335i. I think the 335i has been putting out 300RW HP - suspect HP gap isn't as big as Nick makes it sound unless Merc is underrating their engines significantly too...
