I could not be happier. I bought the Godox Knowled M600D Daylight LED for $999, and Adorama sent me the Godox QR P120 Softbox as a gift. Best of both worlds, light and softbox.
Great recommendations. Thank you. There is a better way to install a softbox into a bowens mount. Don't pick up softbox itself. First, install a light onto softbox while a softbox is face down on the floor with the mount up. And then you'll have something to grab-light or handle-to pick the whole thing up and put it on a c-stand. That's a much faster and easier way instead of trying to install a huge softbox while light is on the c-stand.
Yes. On the floor is also a great way . I actually do that sometimes . Since most surfaces I shoot are not clean, such as outdoors, factories and other industrial environments I mount as shown. Thanks for watching 🙂.
Appreciate very much for explaining and showing us what true parabolic lighting is and how to use this softbox as such with an inverted light. Thanks as well for all the techniques on setting up and storing the soft boxes and grids and the small lecture on light physics 💚
Thank you very much and also for being a long time follower. Because of the viewers like you, it is a pleasure being here and I’m glad my content t is useful. I try my best. Thanks again.

Fantastic review. Perhaps, the most informative video I have seen on these topics. I can't wait to play with the parabolic techniques you demonstrated.
Thanks again for watching multiple videos. Please feel free to browse more. Every video is like these. However, the parabolic stuff I showed here is just for fun. There are real parabolic modifiers that Godox also makes. But they start at $1400 or so. With those, you get the real thing. Broncolor brand is the leader on those. Some parabolic stuff they make cost over $15,000 🤣

Hello, thank you for the detailed description of the structure of the softbox and its use. I have a question. I have a Godox LED 150W light and from what you said the 120cm softbox would not be ideal for it. What do you think, should I better buy the 90 cm softbox for it? Thank you very much for an answer.
Absolutely. I use these BH impact stands a lot. Just MAKE SURE you set the legs correctly, as wide as it can go. It will support anything from a soft box to a heavy 2X1 light panel
one tip, in the para 88 instructions from Broncholor ( the video with the lady in it), they assemble the bracket to the para on the floor, then heave the thing onto your shoulder, facing rearwards, your shoulder is the pivot point, and all the fiddling you have to do is drop the socket on the c-stands pin, and do up the screw, no having to align the slots & twist the whole modifier. far easier on ones back, legs, arms etc. esp if you do it all day.
The parabolic thing that with the “rods” and all, I did it for “fun”. No one will use this softbox for that. And it’s not a true parabola shape. You’ll be paying at least $1000 for one. Godox also makes it, designed for photography. Godox Parabolic 88 Reflector (35.4")
Awesome just starting to build up my studio set and been checking out a few different soft boxes just a thought that zip on the side is that to allow access so you can put in or take out a beauty dish style center reflector isn’t that an option with this soft box ? Great video 👍
Great and informative video. I have been looking to get the 90cm version as my first softbox and I am glad to have come across your channel and this particular video. You have clarified so many things here that as someone new delving into studio lighting am trying to learn more about. Keep up the great work! 👏🏽👏🏽
Cool video... I'm just deciding what size to get the 90 or 120. Do you think bigger would better? I shoot portraits & events/weddings which involve groups. Thanks
For the softer light as possible, bigger is better and CLOSER is better. That’s why I chose this size. I also use a 7’ x 5’ giant modifier for that same reason.
great video, but one other notable mention, the Breise light system, this has a focus reflector system in which continuous tungsten or HMI lights as well as flash can be accomadated into this modifier, with appropriate power balast, and focussing head system.
i just bought a godox ad600 pro, would you recommend this or an umbrella style? *soo you can screw in a small deflector/Beauty Dish Plate in the middle for even dispersion of light* was looking at Godox S120T but got sold a QR120T instead without the an intention of using contant lights as I only have a strobe(ad 600pro)
Would you recommend using this with a Godox V1 flash? Is it powerful enough? I want to have 1 soft box and use a flash for photography and a COD light for video.
I own this 120 parabolic softbox and also a Godox UL120 and the UL120 does not hold the weith of this parabolic softbox. Then I saw that you are actually holding it with a different piece. Can I ask what would be your recommendation for setting it up well? Thanks!
That was shown just for “fun”. Godox makes actual parabolic real ones but the cost at least $1,400, broncolor PARA series is 3 times that…parabolic is rather expensive but it’s the real thing. Here’s the link amzn.to/3XcDbLj
@@ArtVideoProductions Yeah I know haha but I figured if this gets you 80% of the way it could create a meaningful and interesting image and wondered if my p90 could get me 80% of the way also.
Wonderful review, very thorough. I have just a few questions if I may; 1) I realise in order to take advantage of the parabolic nature of the P120 we should use a rod like you demonstrate, but having 2 stands (one for the P120 and another in front of it for rod) is too much. What kind of 'all in one' rods and stands can you buy that would allow something from an AD200-AD600 to slide up and down the rod but also be part of the whole light stand rig? 2) The sample shots at the end with the subject, this was with diffusion, yes? 3) Can the box be collapsed with the inner diffusion left on as well as the other? Or will it kinda 'fall off' as the box is compressed down? This looks like a good modifier, something that 'can do it all', just trying to figure out really the other parts I may need to make it all come together now.
Thanks for the love. Yes, all diffusers remain insure like shown. The rod thing is not really for normal softboxes. These are really, really expensive starting at $1500 from Godox and $6000 from Broncolor. Yes, all shots at the end were takes with the softbox in normal use. Diffusers on.
@@ArtVideoProductions Thank you. There must be a way to do a rod thing without paying so much for them? Can a boom arm or something somehow be adapted?
Since this a parabolic reflector, can you please comment on the quality of parallel light when used as a parabolic reflector with the light source set in the focus point?! Because there are "cheap" paras out there being 10times or more expensive than this one.
To get an actual parabolic light source really designed for that you’ll have to pay at least $1500 to $9,000 for 1. Godox makes them too at affordable price while Broncolor can cost you a lot. The parabolic thing I showed here is for fun.
A very informative video. Can you suggest a focusing rod for this softbox just like the broncolor has a rod to insert the light deep or pull it back wide? It will be really helpful. Thank you so much.
The only option, as shown, is to use a C-Stand or any sort of boom that’s sturdy enough to hold your light. Thank you for your question and for watching my video.
Godox just released a true parabolic focusing system. But the price starts at $1200 to $1700. But still, way cheaper than Broncolor. As for the “rod” improvisation in the video, I think that’s the only way…
A very extensive video. You seem to be a very meticulous person. Since you mentioned that with double layer of diffusion it wont actually behave like a parabola, should I get a Godox SB-UE120 softbox for my Godox SL200Wii video light?
Comparing the godox godox SB-UE120 to this one, I still prefer the Qr-P120. The only thing you can buy to produce a parabolic effect would be the Broncolor Para series. If you want to “play “ parabolic, you can do what I’ve shown in the video. But for regular diffusion and less of a deep softbox, the godox SB-UE120 seems to be a good choice as well. Either one Godox models are kinda pricey too…
@@ArtVideoProductions I'm getting a P120H for $75 while QR120 is for $115. Is the QR model worth the extra price. The fiberglass rods model P120L is for $79.
@@ArtVideoProductions Thanks for your guidance. It seems unlikely that QR120 would see a lot of travel. Today I ended up with a cheaper solution.
