You've mentioned that you are very picky with the ASMR you enjoy and so that makes it even more awesome. I'm so glad you enjoyed the bandage sounds, and honestly they'd fit really well into a Rapunzel video as well. I definitely put my heart and soul into this video, and I"ve got one coming up in the next couple weeks that will be even more ambitous than this one taking place in Ancient Japan! As for the background, its composed of a combination of real life footage, some clips I got from a website I subscribe to, and the majority came from a Video Game. I recorded footage from Assassin's Creed Valhalla at a particular angle and then edited it a bit to suit the scene! Video game backgrounds are a game changer for people like me with 0 art skills. Wow, I have studied Latin for 4 years now and this is pretty spot on, even the choice of language and speech patterns sounds just about right. “Grown to importance”, “which I hope we are able to arrive at”, and plenty of other examples show the time you put into this
Gratias tibi ago Thee20th Doctor. That is such a great compliment. First of all, that is so awesome that you studied Latin. Its such a beautiful language. It means a lot when people notice the details. Those parts took the longest, especially verifying different language choices in different eras of the empire. The amount of time I spent trying to find a match for my Roman "Helmet" and the correct era is a lot more time than it should have LOL. I actually spent a couple days going down the reddit rabbit hole of latin phrases/greetings/titles for Ancient Rome and at what time period. Needless to say I'm so glad you noticed those small things and I try to do my best to stay historically accurate (though I'm sure I make a few errors here and there). @@NathanASMR hey there’s always something to learn when there’s like, 12 different tenses hahah. I still have plenty to learn, especially since my school didn’t require a speaking or writing final for Latin on account of it being a dead language. It’s especially hard to learn on the internet on account of all mass translators not really working for it at all. A good hint that always helps is the only words ever capitalized are names. donec iterum conveniant
@@thee20thdoctor18 Thats a great rule of thumb! I will be literally using that 100%. I have a friend who does some Latin ASMR her name is Secret Scholar, highly recommend giving her channel a listen if you enjoy Latin! I totally agree its a "dead language" so there is a lot of conflicting information. The best way is to learn from a real teacher or maybe just live in Vatican City? LOL. I think overall its one of the most useful languages for understanding etymology and the history of language especially for Western Civilization!

This was so much fun! I love how much research went into this! i think i love historical asmr so much because everything seems so strange and yet the person is completely serious. Amazing work! I wonder how Galen would feel knowing that he gets a whole plague named after him lol
WOB!! So great to see you and so were able to watch. I was hoping you'd see this one. I totally agree about historical ASMR. Its completely hilarious but yet at the same time you have to keep in character and try your best not to laugh. But also just History in general, stuff that seems completely bizarre to us was just common practice back then. LOL. Cabbage was apparently big back then as a general cure-all, but I'm guessing that was probably not as bad as some of the stuff they were ingesting or using leeches or something crazy. Galen got into some pretty crazy stuff back then but apparently was kind of an arrogant know it all, so he probably would have liked it. Although apparently he was super paranoid about the plague back then and did everything he could to stay out of the City. So glad you enjoyed it and have a great rest of your evening!

I'm one of those people who also just remembers everybody LOL And your gum comments were well received, I had actually been meaning to do a video but was just reminded when you posted just now! And guess what? They actually did have chewing gum in Ancient Roman times. It was called Mastic and it tasted a bit like Cumin and Carrot. It is actually still sold in specialty Turkish or Greek shops. LOL, damn that would have been such a hard flex if I had put that into the video. I didn't think of it until now. LOL. But at least now we know chewing gum is canon in ancient times, it works!
Wow, Nathan! This was amazing! I love all of the many incredible background changes that make me feel exactly like I’m right there in Ancient Rome. The script, background, sounds, and editing were wonderful! Every detail was absolutely perfect...from the wind blowing outside the tent, the tiny rays of light entering the tent, the fire and insect sounds, wardrobe, buildings, paths. There’s a reason you’re in a league of your own! If it were me, I’d pick at my wound, just to stay another night here with the Great Galen and his olive oil, vinegar, and honey! Just fantastic! Wow! This is incredible! It makes me tired even to imagine editing a video like this-I’m so impressed with the work you put in from research to costume to finding clips and making it all run together smoothly. Watching this video, I kept thinking how there should be an ASMR online school…lessons like this for history, somebody like DecafMathASMR teaching algebra…getting to graduation would take twice as long as students would keep falling asleep, but it would be such an enjoyable way to get an education 😁

@@sim8109 I've got the video and I remember for sure. You are 3rd on my list right now. Honestly if I really am honest, I think it will realistically be out in November. I'm going to push our two OW videos (Orisa/Sig) and then there will be 2-3 history videos and then I'll have yours and a Sombra player. That's basically my plan! I didn't forget though, I just got super far behind due to the sheer volume of VOD's sent in. I most certainly will do my best to get it out ASAP. One thing I want to do is not overwhelm my audience with OW VOD's so I try to do 3 other videos per two OW VOD's LOL. LOL! YES! Apparently Cato the Elder the great Roman used to love using Cabbage as a healing ingredient. LOL. A good deal of it was effective and had evidence supporting it (like vinegar/olive oil/honey) but a lot of it I imagine was fairly worthless like Cabbage LOL. I have been dreaming of a vacation once things end with Covid and I was looking at maybe over there or in Australia. I was watching the Expedia Travel Guide which was basically just a primer video for the most part. I had previously looked around at possibilities over there but if you have any recommendations that would be fantastic as well. I know how the spring rain can go, here in Florida we are now going into Fall but Fall here is still quite warm 75-85 degrees Farenheit. Still Spring is one of my favorite seasons, I hope it is still beautiful even with the Spring rain over there! Hi Nathan! I feel like cabbage is one of those old wives tales that *may* have a slight affect but is probably more placebo than anything 😂 Australia is beautiful too and alot warmer than NZ, I would recommend both to be honest. Not very patriotic, I know haha. Wow, the height of Auckland summer is usually 75-85 degrees F...its been a colder week here, closer to 50 degrees F. But thats the funny thing about Auckland, we are the definition of 4 seasons in one day. It is such a spread out city that half can be sunny and warm while the other city is pouring with rain haha. I would recommend the south island, which is a little cliche, but there's a reason all the tourists go there. It's honestly stunning. Also the coromandel or nelson if you like beautiful beaches. Auckland is good for urban things like the sky tower or waiheke island. We also have waterfalls and bush walks in Auckland and nice beaches on the outskirts of the city. I could go on forever! Florida sounds so warm, where I would rather be right now! How easy is it to pop over to the Bahamas from Florida? Do people do that or is it not really a place you just "pop over" to? @@13se05 Apologies I was on a bit of a short vacation ( a few hours away). As to what you said earlier, oh absolutely the power of placebo is definitely strong and long term obviously something like cabbage wouldn't help. And even though I live in the USA, I'm the first one to recommend a trip to Europe so I am also the same. That sounds like a perfect Summer to be honest. That sounds really intriguing with Auckland. It sounds a lot like where I live here in Miami. The weather can be absolutely 90degrees at one moment and then 20 minutes later its 75 and raining like a monsoon. I definitely will take a look at some videos and articles talking about the south island! I am so interested in places around the world and honestly I feel like Auckland seems to have some incredible natural beauty. I am literally googling all these places right now! Do you have the same amount of diverse wildlife as Australia? Florida is definitely super interesting to visit and I think you'd find it very different (although strangely familiar it sounds). The beaches here are pretty amazing but we are missing any mountains! The Bahamas are also amazing but they are more "untouched" vs Florida which is developed all along the coasts. To get to the Bahamas is about a 1 hour flight or a short Ferry ride! A lot of people do it and its very easy. It definitely is a weekend trip kind of thing from here in Miami. I sadly have not done it yet! I have been to the Bahamas 1 time but it was long ago. Trust me, it is on my bucket list though to go by ferry when things are a bit more back to normal. I'll definitely let you know how it is so that when/if you do visit you'll know what to expect. Thank you again and hope your weekend is also well!

Hey there Vault Tech, thank you so much for the comment and for taking the time to watch. I really appreciate it. You are correct! I definitely made a few mispronunciations, but I do think the information is fairly accurate nonetheless. I do appreciate the correction. I admit that I am not well enough read in the writings of Galen to give an entirely nuanced depiction of his personality (apparently he was quite arrogant), and I wish I had more time to spend to make everything perfect. To be fair, all of the props were real and they were relatively historically accurate (the closest I could purchase). As far as real sets, I totally agree with you and I wish I had the money to purchase real sets for each video. I'm on a modest budget for the channel and I hope to have more detailed sets as the channel grows. I agree that a green screen just simply doesn't do it justice. I live in a tropical place, so its pretty much impossible for me to do something outside that would fit the time period and geography as well. That said, my next big roleplay video is a REAL background exactly as you asked. That video is set in the Meiji Period of Japan. I spent a ton of money actually buying a real set and so hopefully it'll be a bit more to your liking as well. But to be real, these things really add up in cost and thats the prohibitive factor. Also I should add that a lot of quality is lost when uploading to UA-cam, and I had a good deal of loss of fidelity upon upload. Anyway I really do appreciate the constructive and honest comment! Also I hope you aren't downtrodden about my green screen aversion, it's just that I really love the visceral subtleties of a physical set even tho I know that filming ASMR in a real outside setting is nearly impossible
Not at all! I totally agree with your assessment. Thats one reason I love Latte ASMR, she uses only Real Sets, no Green screen. Another person who does that is Moonlight Cottage ASMR! I am going to try and use a real set for my next roleplay video and see how the response is! The main issue is just Cost, and so if it is well received I will try investing in another project like that. Trust me, I am super ambitious and I want to continue to improve with every video. I have been purchasing audio/video equipment to buildout my "out of studio" setup. I've only recently gotten the ability to start recording completely out of the studio! The next videos will reflect that upgrade as well. I wish I wasn't in Florida so that I could do more "in the world" filming for these types of Historical Roleplays. Perhaps a Spanish, or Pirate styled historical video would work and I wouldn't need a greenscreen! Hrm...all of a sudden I'm getting some ideas! Thanks again for this constructive criticism, and I found it helpful. And we are both thinking the same! I'll be really curious to get your feedback on the Meiji Japan video coming out in the next month or so.

As for the background, its composed of a combination of real life footage, some clips I got from a website I subscribe to, and the majority came from a Video Game. I recorded footage from Assassin's Creed Valhalla at a particular angle and then edited it a bit to suit the scene! Video game backgrounds are a game changer for people like me with 0 art skills. Wow, I have studied Latin for 4 years now and this is pretty spot on, even the choice of language and speech patterns sounds just about right. “Grown to importance”, “which I hope we are able to arrive at”, and plenty of other examples show the time you put into this
Gratias tibi ago Thee20th Doctor. That is such a great compliment. First of all, that is so awesome that you studied Latin. Its such a beautiful language. It means a lot when people notice the details. Those parts took the longest, especially verifying different language choices in different eras of the empire. The amount of time I spent trying to find a match for my Roman "Helmet" and the correct era is a lot more time than it should have LOL. I actually spent a couple days going down the reddit rabbit hole of latin phrases/greetings/titles for Ancient Rome and at what time period. Needless to say I'm so glad you noticed those small things and I try to do my best to stay historically accurate (though I'm sure I make a few errors here and there). I still have plenty to learn, especially since my school didn’t require a speaking or writing final for Latin on account of it being a dead language. It’s especially hard to learn on the internet on account of all mass translators not really working for it at all. A good hint that always helps is the only words ever capitalized are names. donec iterum conveniant

I have a friend who does some Latin ASMR her name is Secret Scholar, highly recommend giving her channel a listen if you enjoy Latin! I totally agree its a "dead language" so there is a lot of conflicting information. The best way is to learn from a real teacher or maybe just live in Vatican City? LOL. I think overall its one of the most useful languages for understanding etymology and the history of language especially for Western Civilization!

This was so much fun! I love how much research went into this! i think i love historical asmr so much because everything seems so strange and yet the person is completely serious. Amazing work! I wonder how Galen would feel knowing that he gets a whole plague named after him lol
WOB!! So great to see you and so were able to watch. I was hoping you'd see this one. I totally agree about historical ASMR. Its completely hilarious but yet at the same time you have to keep in character and try your best not to laugh. But also just History in general, stuff that seems completely bizarre to us was just common practice back then. LOL. Cabbage was apparently big back then as a general cure-all, but I'm guessing that was probably not as bad as some of the stuff they were ingesting or using leeches or something crazy. Galen got into some pretty crazy stuff back then but apparently was kind of an arrogant know it all, so he probably would have liked it. Although apparently he was super paranoid about the plague back then and did everything he could to stay out of the City. So glad you enjoyed it and have a great rest of your evening!

I'm one of those people who also just remembers everybody LOL And your gum comments were well received, I had actually been meaning to do a video but was just reminded when you posted just now! And guess what? They actually did have chewing gum in Ancient Roman times. It was called Mastic and it tasted a bit like Cumin and Carrot. It is actually still sold in specialty Turkish or Greek shops. LOL, damn that would have been such a hard flex if I had put that into the video. I didn't think of it until now. LOL. But at least now we know chewing gum is canon in ancient times, it works!
Wow, Nathan! This was amazing! I love all of the many incredible background changes that make me feel exactly like I’m right there in Ancient Rome. The script, background, sounds, and editing were wonderful! Every detail was absolutely perfect...from the wind blowing outside the tent, the tiny rays of light entering the tent, the fire and insect sounds, wardrobe, buildings, paths. There’s a reason you’re in a league of your own! If it were me, I’d pick at my wound, just to stay another night here with the Great Galen and his olive oil, vinegar, and honey! Just fantastic! Wow! This is incredible! It makes me tired even to imagine editing a video like this-I’m so impressed with the work you put in from research to costume to finding clips and making it all run together smoothly. Watching this video, I kept thinking how there should be an ASMR online school…lessons like this for history, somebody like DecafMathASMR teaching algebra…getting to graduation would take twice as long as students would keep falling asleep, but it would be such an enjoyable way to get an education 😁

@@sim8109 I've got the video and I remember for sure. You are 3rd on my list right now. Honestly if I really am honest, I think it will realistically be out in November. I'm going to push our two OW videos (Orisa/Sig) and then there will be 2-3 history videos and then I'll have yours and a Sombra player. That's basically my plan! I didn't forget though, I just got super far behind due to the sheer volume of VOD's sent in. I most certainly will do my best to get it out ASAP. One thing I want to do is not overwhelm my audience with OW VOD's so I try to do 3 other videos per two OW VOD's LOL. Unfortunately we've been having alot of spring rain in Auckland but its been a very mild couple of years weather-wise so its ok. What videos of Auckland were you watching? Its such a massive city, so much to see and do
LOL! YES! Apparently Cato the Elder the great Roman used to love using Cabbage as a healing ingredient. LOL. A good deal of it was effective and had evidence supporting it (like vinegar/olive oil/honey) but a lot of it I imagine was fairly worthless like Cabbage LOL. I have been dreaming of a vacation once things end with Covid and I was looking at maybe over there or in Australia. I was watching the Expedia Travel Guide which was basically just a primer video for the most part. I had previously looked around at possibilities over there but if you have any recommendations that would be fantastic as well. I know how the spring rain can go, here in Florida we are now going into Fall but Fall here is still quite warm 75-85 degrees Farenheit. Still Spring is one of my favorite seasons, I hope it is still beautiful even with the Spring rain over there! Hi Nathan! I feel like cabbage is one of those old wives tales that *may* have a slight affect but is probably more placebo than anything 😂 Australia is beautiful too and alot warmer than NZ, I would recommend both to be honest. Not very patriotic, I know haha. Wow, the height of Auckland summer is usually 75-85 degrees F...its been a colder week here, closer to 50 degrees F. But thats the funny thing about Auckland, we are the definition of 4 seasons in one day. It is such a spread out city that half can be sunny and warm while the other city is pouring with rain haha.
I would recommend the south island, which is a little cliche, but there's a reason all the tourists go there. It's honestly stunning. Also the coromandel or nelson if you like beautiful beaches. Auckland is good for urban things like the sky tower or waiheke island. We also have waterfalls and bush walks in Auckland and nice beaches on the outskirts of the city. I could go on forever! Florida sounds so warm, where I would rather be right now! How easy is it to pop over to the Bahamas from Florida? Do people do that or is it not really a place you just "pop over" to?

@@13se05 Apologies I was on a bit of a short vacation ( a few hours away). As to what you said earlier, oh absolutely the power of placebo is definitely strong and long term obviously something like cabbage wouldn't help. And even though I live in the USA, I'm the first one to recommend a trip to Europe so I am also the same. That sounds like a perfect Summer to be honest. That sounds really intriguing with Auckland. It sounds a lot like where I live here in Miami. The weather can be absolutely 90degrees at one moment and then 20 minutes later its 75 and raining like a monsoon. I definitely will take a look at some videos and articles talking about the south island! I am so interested in places around the world and honestly I feel like Auckland seems to have some incredible natural beauty. I am literally googling all these places right now! Do you have the same amount of diverse wildlife as Australia? Florida is definitely super interesting to visit and I think you'd find it very different (although strangely familiar it sounds). The beaches here are pretty amazing but we are missing any mountains! The Bahamas are also amazing but they are more "untouched" vs Florida which is developed all along the coasts. To get to the Bahamas is about a 1 hour flight or a short Ferry ride! A lot of people do it and its very easy. It definitely is a weekend trip kind of thing from here in Miami. I sadly have not done it yet! I have been to the Bahamas 1 time but it was long ago. Trust me, it is on my bucket list though to go by ferry when things are a bit more back to normal. I'll definitely let you know how it is so that when/if you do visit you'll know what to expect. Thank you again and hope your weekend is also well!

I also will oftentimes find a beautiful nature video on YT and reach out to the content creator to ask if I can use their video as a background, which is actually in my next upcoming video! Vergil, I've played enough Halo that I totally know what you mean LOL. It is almost unnecessary to grab another gun with those coils, nades, and the pistol. The pistol has always been super powered comparatively to other guns. I'm a huge fan. I had a run where I only punched as well. Gotta go Ninja style sometimes. Happy New year to you man!

Hey there Vault Tech, thank you so much for the comment and for taking the time to watch. I really appreciate it. You are correct! I definitely made a few mispronunciations, but I do think the information is fairly accurate nonetheless. I do appreciate the correction. I admit that I am not well enough read in the writings of Galen to give an entirely nuanced depiction of his personality (apparently he was quite arrogant), and I wish I had more time to spend to make everything perfect. To be fair, all of the props were real and they were relatively historically accurate (the closest I could purchase). As far as real sets, I totally agree with you and I wish I had the money to purchase real sets for each video. I'm on a modest budget for the channel and I hope to have more detailed sets as the channel grows. I agree that a green screen just simply doesn't do it justice. I live in a tropical place, so its pretty much impossible for me to do something outside that would fit the time period and geography as well. That said, my next big roleplay video is a REAL background exactly as you asked. That video is set in the Meiji Period of Japan. I spent a ton of money actually buying a real set and so hopefully it'll be a bit more to your liking as well. But to be real, these things really add up in cost and thats the prohibitive factor. Also I should add that a lot of quality is lost when uploading to UA-cam, and I had a good deal of loss of fidelity upon upload. Anyway I really do appreciate the constructive and honest comment! Also I hope you aren't downtrodden about my green screen aversion, it's just that I really love the visceral subtleties of a physical set even tho I know that filming ASMR in a real outside setting is nearly impossible

Not at all! I totally agree with your assessment. Thats one reason I love Latte ASMR, she uses only Real Sets, no Green screen. Another person who does that is Moonlight Cottage ASMR! I am going to try and use a real set for my next roleplay video and see how the response is! The main issue is just Cost, and so if it is well received I will try investing in another project like that. Trust me, I am super ambitious and I want to continue to improve with every video. I have been purchasing audio/video equipment to buildout my "out of studio" setup. I've only recently gotten the ability to start recording completely out of the studio! The next videos will reflect that upgrade as well. I wish I wasn't in Florida so that I could do more "in the world" filming for these types of Historical Roleplays. Perhaps a Spanish, or Pirate styled historical video would work and I wouldn't need a greenscreen! Hrm...all of a sudden I'm getting some ideas! Thanks again for this constructive criticism, and I found it helpful. And we are both thinking the same! I'll be really curious to get your feedback on the Meiji Japan video coming out in the next month or so.
