Stumbled onto your channel. Recognized your farm in the intro. Been to your farm countless times throughout the 90's as I rode with dad on the milk truck! Subscribed. Keep up the good work!

Small world, lol. I'm assuming your dad is Joe. Things sure have changed since the 90's, I sure miss those days. Thanks

Yep. Things have definitely changed over the years, that's for sure. Most of the farms he picked up are empty now. Seems to be the trend unfortunately

I'm thinking that bran is similar to brewers grain, back in the nineties we would get semi loads from the brewery and the truck would come with a bag attached to the back. The truck would bag it. Really a slick deal. And the cows loved it! We even put some in the silo mixed with corn silage.

It does seem similar. My dad used to get brewer's grain too back in the 90's, same setup. I was hoping to find some of that stuff, but it seems to all be spoken for. Thanks for watching

@darrellrobinson5742 I'm feeding about 1/3 bad silage in the ration with the good silage. It seems to be working OK so far. If my reproduction keeps going good I might try to feed half and half on the corn silage. Thanks

@@hartungdairyfarm0713 wouldn't go past 1/3 unless you absolutely have to. Add bentonite to absorb some of the toxins. Cheap and it helps. 😊

Check out for haulers with live floor trucks and bag attachments. The brewers grain haulers have them coming from both Coors and A/B breweries. Good luck with the bran in the ration, it should be good feed.

When we were in the "Big Boy" category, we had quite a few little odd patches.. close to the big fields or a group on the way to the big fields. Someone's gotta do them. Usually rent free, so we could actually make something on them..
    Keep getting it done!!

Matt it went well enough. I finished on the same date as last year and I still have all the fingers I started with, unlike last year 🤨 It feels so good to be done, and the quiet of the winter nights seems all the more peaceful now. The brewers grain your Dad got that wasn't like wet distillers grain from the ethanol plants was it? I feed dry distillers but back when we had enough cattle we would split a load of wet stuff with another farmer, I wasn't impressed with that stuff, it was inconsistent.
