They paired me with other shoppers to learn from them and I did my first order alone. I've met really nice people both from Amazon and Whole Foods. I just wish we could have 8 hrs shifts. This has pretty much been my exact experience.. Today was supposed to be my "training day." They showed me how to set up the phone and sent me on my way. It wouldn't have been nearly as stressful if I could have at least shadowed someone. Like you said, a lot of the online training isn't something you process with it being only explained to you through a screen. It's something you can't do or understand until you're actually there doing it, but then they don't train you. The online learning would have been a great start if they stuck with the rest of the training process. The only saving grace was that the items were marked usually pretty accurately on the map so the process of finding the section of where an item is wasn't too bad for me today. Initally that was my worst fear, but instead I was mostly stressing over just not knowing so many little procedures that if I had shadowed and seen, I probably would have been able to figure out on my own. Our backroom only has 2 tiny tables for bagging, most were standing at the carts which is really hard when you have a big order and a shit ton of bags. I just feel like all I did today was make myself look stupid 🙃

best of luck to you! You will just go to the area where the amazon employees are. you can easily identify them based on their badges (plus they're working carts filled w amazon bags, so you can find them easily). • @MlleBambi

As you said, Amazon is here to make money, like any other huge company like this one. There is a reason why they have more workers (that are badly treated, working part time, paid poorly, not managed properly because having actual trained managers is expensive, etc) than they need, this way, who cares if employees leave because of how they are treated, there are still hundred of people waiting in line to do the job, because they have no other options to get moneyto pay their bills. For a company to be this big, and this profitable, selling things at such a low price, someone in the line is suffering from it. And most of the time it's the employees, like in fast fashion for instance.
I've been boycotting amazon for 2 years now because of this, and I'm never going back. I thought this was common knowledge (just like fast fashion now is widely known to be bad for the workers and the ressources of the planet), because I feel like I was quite lateto hop on the bandwagon.
I'm sorry that you had this experience and that your husband still has to go through this.

I was a former employee at whole foods for 15 years and quit just recently a couple of weeks ago after finding a better job among other reasons. Especially when I found out the amazon shoppers were getting higher hazard pay increases and pay differential than the actual whole foods team members were during whe whole time of the pandemic. As tedious as Amazon is with their infraction and scheduling system. At least they make some kind of effort paying their workers fairly to tolerate their unethical work procedures. Meanwhile whole foods will squeeze everything out of you and try their best to pay you at the very bare minimum and keep your raises as stagnant as possible. On that note, in my opinion that was a wise decision to be an amazon shopper. Working in the actual market Is far worse. Other positions at the store level is low pay and they work you much more to the bone and all employees are miserable. Did I forget to mention the constant micromanaging. The company was already in trouble. That's why Jeff Bezos bought whole foods practically at a discount during the right time. I'm sure you've seen and feel the vibes of the low morale for yourself when you ask for assistance from the store team members when looking for certain items. Oh yeah and the discrimination has always been rampant there. Your definitely not alone to have experienced that with both companies. My advice to you as a former employee is request to transfer if your fed up with the environment. Not all stores are the same and you might find a niche as a shopper in another store so your no longer tolerate being in that toxic work environment. I also became a shopper recently on the side for supplementary income and the job is a breeze compared to what whole foods put me through over the years. Amazon shopper in my opinion is the most ideal part time job right now in this economy especially if you prefer working in a non-supervised role. Great review btw & good luck to you!!

Its unfortunate I left but just like you so well stated in your video as I paraphrase " Don't leave all your eggs in one basket" I am learning to embrace that much more nowadays. Lol. You are absolutely right!! Experiences definitely vary by location and situation. I worked in multiple locations and I must say they all had their pros and cons. Lol Thats why in my experience working there. I recommend you talk your site manager about transferring to another location as a good start to diffuse the situation considering you both aren't on best of terms.I know many shoppers that transferred to other locations for various reasons. I am sure they wont give you any difficulty and will be very understanding about it. Besides it's not a good feeling to work at a place where you dont feel your voice is never heard. My first day was last monday. We were told "someone from amazon will greet you" blah blah blah. When I got there, a WF cashier/customer service rep told us to wait for someone... SO me and two other people waited. And waited. And waited..1/2 hour later... Nobody showed up. A shopper reluctantly helped us. We had NO CLUE where our badges were, the phones, time clocks... Nothing. I don't mind shopping on my own but set me up?? Oh yeah. I remember getting an email the night before... From the "manager" stating she was going on vacation that whole week I was supposed to start. 🙄 when telling my informal trainer that... She's like... Yeah... You'll never see her anyway.

Very informative video. I was recently hired as an In Store Shopper at Whole Foods NY, my first day is tomorrow lol. They offered me a seasonal position (90 days) with a promess of up to 29 hours a week. I can't pick my schedule. They will schedule me to work based on my availability. Seems like they wanna make sure all gaps are covered tho. The fact that I can't choose my schedule was a turn off. At least they're paying me for the eLearning courses I took online.

Can you please drop a tip for me please. I'm not even sure what the hell is going on. The "interview" was really unprofessional. All I did was take a picture and said to wait for an email and that's it. They also said I'm capable of working 15-20 hours a week but is there any way of getting more hours than that?? Any viewers please feel free to help. I also got another job on the side that I wanna quit but I at least want some more hours than 20.

    • @TheStitchWitchPodcast
      @TheStitchWitchPodcast  3 роки тому +2

so it sounds like you already received a conditional offer (no interview). you probably just picked up your ID and will get more info in your inbox going forward... I had the same experience.
You might get more than 15-20 hours if you apply for as many shifts as possible: like I said, it's based on priority and you make priority by working a TON. this might mean 4am-9am shifts 5x a week including weekends (shrug) but that's just how amazon works.

Is the environment toxic? Also, the shifts is scarce?

Environment was 'toxic' but not in general; I think I just had a couple of unfortunate colleagues. You don't really interact with anyone there.
The shifts were scarce, yes. The scheduling for shifts is a nightmare.

An Amazon Whole Foods shopper since May 30th. One issue after another. If you are lucky enough to get MTR status you can schedule your shifts a lot easier. I have gone through so many issues since I was told I opted out which I never did lt alone was told I did before I started. When I called HRC I was told there were 4,000 people hired and there are way too many shifts available to accommodate that many individuals. Good Luck as I type I am trying to get shifts which come out inconsistently. I got passed on from one individual to another all the while documenting each along the way. My direct manager did her best to help me, but once I was elevated to another worthless (although one gave me two weeks pay for those weeks I was not to book a shift), but from there it's been completely down hill. I recently received an email requesting me to take a drug test (as when I started they were not doing them) but was also told there would be no change in the way we book shifts and it I failed (which I would not) my status would be the same! If you can find another job that is consistent I highly suggest to take it as this company really doesn't care about you as they have all they can handle and the impression I have received through 50+ emails one less is no issue!

My first day I was told to wait, and someone will come by to get my first day going. 1 HOUR LATER someone came. 1 FUCKING HOUR LATER. My first month consisted of not knowing what to do with me. No one really wanted to waste their time to train me. So, basically, I got a lot of "you're doing it wrong" remarks. Also, they had me come in to work at 5am... to wash dishes. Fucking Dishes?!!! Why 5am? Their main dish washer gets to come in at 8am. I'm getting the idea that the one in charge didn't prepare for me to come and train.
It's an easy job than what I'm used to. But I really don't like working at Whole Foods.

@@TheStitchWitchPodcast thanks. I just went for an interview, and noticed the story was packed. At least they don’t have you working 6 hours without any lunch breaks. Whole Foods doesn’t allow lunches unless it’s more than 6 hours, which in my state is considered a violation.

I have orientation coming up for Amazon Go grocery store.
However i can't find any videos on what's it like working at the Grocery store & what i should expect. 😓
Amazon expects me to be open for availability anywhere from 4am - 11am which worries me because that makes me wonder how am i going to lead an uninterrupted life
being an online student, a part time weekend job & i hope i can have Amazon Go job as another source of income!
Like you, i am a workaholic. I want multiple jobs but it's important to know if Amazon will be willing to work around my 2nd job work schedule. I don't think Amazon will? 😰💔

you're kidding right? amazon is terrible and jeff bezos is terrible person. He makes more money during corona yet he won't raise the pay, being the number 1 company paying minimum wage. Puts a work policy where you have to work at a certain pace or get fired, and the rate to work at warehouses can be extremely hard in my experience working with overweight packages and expecting to powerwalk with them for hours nonstop; WHAT DID I SIGN UP FOR? TO WORK FOR A MOVING COMPANY?. Everyone at bottom is just a slave, they don't care about you. Corporate america like amazon just uses people at bottom, hire people whoever they want, and they sit while the bottom people do the hard labour while they sit on their asses collecting all the money.
