Spent a lot of time working on this video, so I really hope you enjoy the history and breakdown of this incredible speedrun challenge! ^^
April 11th 2024
cheers for the upload!
Your content is king Linkus!
I'm very happy to see you give credit to genuinescorruption beating OoT blind. An incredible story that not many people bring up these days
Fancy seeing you here
I had no idea that my blindfolded route would be commentated in detail, thank you! I will be attempting the new route with some changes later this week, so look forward to that!
Livi deserves credit on being the first to kill Ganondorf and second to complete an any% run. Player5 and Pointcrow shall be coming soon!
Wait I love the heartwarming story of how blindfolded runs started ❤️ we need more things like that in this world
not to mention pointcrow beat tears of the kingdom with only his meat
ayo?
He also established the raw meat meat club
Just wait til Crow is done mastering the blindfolded TOtK, and he then does a blind meat run.
@@michaelmahoney5677 you heard him
@@michaelmahoney5677 yeah he did it was it must’ve taken him long time to beat it
Huge shout-out to Runner Guy what an amazing task to take on just to help a gamer! He's the true MVP
Yooo thank you so much for showcasing the blindfolded community! All amazing players, can highly recommend to check all their runs out!
Hello Bubzia!
Why no sm64 blindfolded 16-star sub-20 practice stream?
Calling time on Links hand clapping against Zelda's (hand) is an adorable audio cue, and should be in official timing rules imo
The rules say "upon grabbing Zelda's hand" and I'm not sure if that implies final input or the actual grab
@@stonerbland7621 the final input is a "Hold" prompt so time ends when you no longer need to hold the button, meaning it ends at the actual grab
Timing on audio cue is horrible for verification (audio is very easily delayed or out of sync). It also makes it harder to get an exact time.
all categories that beat game do end time on the first frame of the final hand clasp.
With how often Linkus is sponsored by manscape he better have the smoothest balls on the face of the Earth or he will have betrayed us all.
Nice video ! I'm really happy that our work is being highlighted. Indeed, it is very difficult to have our discipline accepted everywhere, particularly within the framework of local speedrun events. I also didn't expect such enthusiasm, especially since at the beginning, my videos received very few views. Today, a lot of people are starting to blindfold this game and I'm quite proud of it. Thank you so much. If I can give some advice to those who would like to try the experience, the TOTK community is very attentive. Saver has made a tutorial video which explains the controller configurations as well as the basic movements which you will find quite easily about BOTW and which works too for TOTK and helped me so much. By the way this video is cool for our blindfolded community ; )
Blindfolded skyward sword sounds like actual hell
I remember that RunnerGuy videos. What a legend. My favorite section was like a 2 hour goose chase trying to get the Ocarina of Time underwater hahahaha
Considering how hard they went with the sound direction. I don't doubt that this is possible. EVERYTHING has a unique sound effect
Player5 is actually a god. He does what feels like minutes of ASF in his blindfolded runs so far
For sure! He's an incredible runner in all categories.
The arrow smuggle isn’t hard tho, he is still insane at the game, but he is not the best right now. He is at the 3 spot in normal any% and he has not completed a run. Also, all of his routing has been done for weeks with so much time and dedication 👏
@@DinoTechSR he clearly is the best right now. the only reason he is not #1 is because he got bored with having no competition and went back to botw and now blindfolded. he will be back to totk and he will hold the #1 spot as soon as he decides to do so.
0:32 not the discord ping sound causing me to open my own discord and check 💀💀💀
not me causing that discord ping to happen :)
if it weren't for the fact roomie has the shared computer I would have too lol admittedly the instinct rose for half a second before logic broke back in.
@linkus7 It’s unfortunate that another huge and important runner of blindfolded TotK wasn’t added in the video 🙁
Livi La Douceur has just done recently sub-2h blindfolded Any%. She also began her journey of mastering blindfolded TotK last year in 2023 and she was the runner that pushed the run up to Ganon fight blindfolded FIRST! Without her, Saver wouldn’t have the motivation to continue past GSI and finish through the dragon last fight.
I’m sorry but I can’t watch the video if she doesn’t make the cut as she is a great part of blindfolded TotK history and this incredible feat! 😢
BABE WAKE UP NEW LINKUS7 VIDEO DROPPED!!
nice coverage - I'm surprised Saver's blindfolded TotK run has actually gone under the radar for so long; it's simply incredible!
11 minuts is the earliest ive ever been for a vid keep up the great content linkus
This is such a fun speedrun category! I can't wait to see how it evolves!
That story at the beginning is amazing. Very wholesome.
Hello! I’m a blind from birth Zelda fan. I have yet to beat Tears of the Kingdom due to its complexity and openness. I want to actually experience the plot though. The most frustrating parts are 1) As you mentioned, Link ALWAYS continues to move forward. If he can’t move forward he auto climbs. This drives me crazy and makes me lose track of where I am quickly. 2) I hate there are no audio cues for switching between items on the Dpad. Also nearly impossible to try to navigate one handed while I use my other hand to use OCR with my phone to read what items/weapons I’m selecting. 3) I didn’t know that constantly refocusing the camera could help with aiming the bow. I will need to try that myself to see if that will work with no visual references to work off of. Lastly) Trying to build ANYTHING is the most confusing and frustrating experience when you have no visual or 3D reference. I tried getting help streaming and I still cannot comprehend the movement controls. I know it’s because I’m missing so much context/information, but it’s the most frustrating thing ever for me to try to comprehend. I haven’t struggled this much since A Link Between Worlds and trying to understand being a painting within a 3D environment. It’s one thing to blindfold oneself. It’s quite another to have no visual memory to work of from in the first place. I don’t get to take a blindfold off. It’s my reality 24/7. I still really wish to complete TOTK, but I don’t know if I will be able to with how visual the interactive environment is. Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.
I hope these tips will help you!
1) If you can buy an 8bitdo lite controller (and upgrade the firmware to v1.03 or so), the movement stick and the camera stick become dpads where you can only press up, down, left, or right. If you hold up or down on the camera while moving Link, the camera angle should not change, even when moving forward or climbing obstacles. Link may climb obstacles at an angle and at once finished he may have his position changed from left to right by maybe a side hop or two (depending on the obstacle and its geometry), but the camera would still be locked behind him, so your up and down should still be the same. The controller is great at movement, but the buttons are much smaller than a Pro Controller.
2) If you attempt to throw an item, you can listen to how the item sounds like. Fire fruit will sound like theres fire in your hand, while holding a topaz will sound like electricity in your hand. This doesn't work with all items, but can work for elemental items. If you want specific items in front of your inventory, you can throw the item a few times until it becomes "an item you have used the most". Then in your inventory, there is a way to sort the items three times, where one of the times is dependent on how many times you've "used" an item. This can allow you push your favorite items to the front of the list in at least one of the three inventory sorts.
3) If you hold down the draw bow button, then press the scope button, then hold down the draw bow button again, you will get a consistent angle change upwards every time. Bow, Scope, Bow, Scope, etc. This video doesn't see the drawing of the bow because I do it too fast. This method was used in both tears of the kingdom as well as breath of the wild.
I think that to really comprehend Zonai device building your best bet would be to find someone with a 3D printer and modeling software, who can make the parts physical so you can assemble them. A local college might have students studying CAD (standing for Computer Aided Design) you could ask for. Another option is to contact a local makerspace. There are also UA-cam channels of people who focus on 3D printing that you can ask.
Super cool Video linkus! Keep up the great work!
5:36 Linkus: let’s jump right into it!
Also Linkus: walks off the ledge
eh, close enough
Excellent video my guy!!
This is so interesting! I may need to try out watching some blindfolded runs now...
4:02 i absolutely love that this guy never wore an actual blindfold, but instead simply put a shirt over his head
Hey, love your speed running/rando Zelda content, it always entertains me 👍
CrystalSaver is such a legend
im literally crying rn just at the history part of blindfolded speedruns. so touching and to talented
I can't even remember my current quest, let alone every single step and hop needed to blind run.
Well, I was going to sleep, but Linkus is life😂

Such a good video!
these speedruns make big leaps for accessibility in gaming in a lot of ways. I bet these routes, if there was a way to have a tts read out the instructions, could be good building blocks for casual playthroughs. I saw a video about addons for WoW that had specific checkpoints and directions for blind players to use while levelling and even doing dungeons/raids. I hope these sorts of runs inspire people to help us on the higher support needs end of the disability spectrum; instead of us being used to inspire like always. We don't need to "overcome our disabilities", we just want to be treated like everyone else - even if that means sometimes we need a little help. I've been looking into sightless methods of playing games since blindness runs in my family, and I dont know when it will hit me. I hope that with adaptive controllers and such I can continue playing the games I love, no matter how disabled my body gets. It's scary to lose mobility, sight, etc.. but It's less scary knowing I can still hold onto my biggest comforts with routes, mods, modified controllers and setups. These speedruns just affirm me that if I work at it long enough I could pull off some of what they're doing, if not at least learn the layout of everything with normalized movement. :)
Alvis: i cannot see
And... what is your conclusions.
Alvis: ...my sight is hindered-
Kallian; we are on the grasp on a "bruh" moment
That’s amazing
W VIDEO and also linkus this probably wont be seen and cause how many people might say this but wow you make my day your videos are so entertaining and i love watching your videos every time you upload much love from me and CYA
What the damn hell. Congrats to that guy !
Funny that this category was mentioned in the most recent linkus7 daily vid
I love this music in background
Linkus taking notes after Mainz’s stream goal.
This is so cool
Unrelated, but I was just introduced to your channel and I would love to see an explanation vid on the speedrun for skyward sword like you’ve done for twilight princess and the 100% speedrun for wind waker. Great content!
I'm a Bubzia enjoyer, and I'm happy other gaming comunities also popularize this category. It's so impressive, it's breathtaking
Linkus's body hair has some insane PTSD at this point
I didn't realize that the AGDQ run was historic when I watched it
Insane
Honestly, it shows how amazing the audio design in BOTW and TOTK is.
As someone who has lost a wr to saver, i can confirm he is blindfolded BEAST
11:30 to do that sort of damage to Ganon attach a silver lynel saver horn to master sword
Just casually
*in bubzia voice* yoooo, Saver is a legend!
It is awesome and a charm story for these people since Runner Guy on 100% Ocarina of Time did part of which a blindfolded door of time skip. He was good at that well. 😊 Plus I'm surprised despite the latest games that people aren't doing blindfolded leaderboard runs of the other games I have and love ❤ It is an interesting community though that is.
Meanwhile, the blind people who beat tears of the kingdom last year:
i love zelda communtiy
Blindfolded players are easily some of the most skilled gamers, not just speedrunners. I find them to be outrageously inspiring as well, the Mario 64 blindfolded runs as well as Pointcrow's BotW blindfolded Great Plateau video have moved me to try speedrunning myself after being just a viewer for years. MASSIVE props to blindfolded players and thr blind person that kickstarted blind runs.
I mean... games can also just be more accessible to blind people. It's more common these days, but very unusual, still.
Delighted to hear that that first person described everything, and not just gave button inputs.
To be clear this is NOT me complaining about blindfolded runs. This is me lamenting how much time has passed and still how few games are accessible to blind folks
Blindfolded sekiro sounds like hell
This video feels like it belongs on Lowest Percent. That ever coming back?
This would solve your eye strain issues.
Wait... Sekiro blindfolded?! Holy moly-
This is why humans are on top of the food chain
Why didn't the clock stop at final input?
you should multi cast streams to youtube so we can watch your streams on here
You really dit it
11:00 at night Swedish speed runner jump scare
How does he get the fairies? Seems like their movement is random, is it not?
I thought Crow was just having fun with a stupidly difficult category that wouldn’t be taken seriously. What is this?
You should do a multiplayer wind waker randomized with smant
LET'S GO
Lol ofc pointcrow is in on it
Have you ever done a phantom hourglass or spirit tracks randomizer before, if not, then try them out, and shout me out if you grab my idea
The thumbnail for this video changed while I was watching it 😅
Handcams?
lets goooo
hi linkus. im not the only one who found him because of pointcrow right
Who's point crow 😂 I found linkus on GDQ 😂
I’m sorry but Is link holding a spliff at 11:00?
OMG
Beat totk with out the surface
If only i cared about Totk
Hey its one of your students
Linkus7 you probably already have different getting lot of rupees tho without glitches Molduga guts, Thunder gleeok horn, molduga fin Gleeok wing Hightail lizard. Is 594 rupees.
Already have different *ways & means getting a lot of rupees
Nintendo speedruns are the best out there!
If I ever did this challenge then I would fall off a cliff over 50 times and I'm not even joking how bad I'm at in this game.
Linkus is the GOAT when it comes to challenges though.
Send
This was so cool! Especially the Demon Dragon bit, I was wondering how that was even possible.
Though I feel like using an amibo is cheating it a bit. I guess it’s technically part of the vanilla game but feels like entering into a cheat code menu built into the game.
Can blind people submit any of their runs as a blindfolded run?
If games were as short as botw and totk, all games would have a blindfold run
Linkus majora mask pc port just dropped!!!
The only thing I don’t like is that they use an amibo
I find all TOTK speedrun/challenges impressive, but duping is making them àrepetitive and feel likes they're all the same
Zuggles aren't THAT complex lol you don't gotta make everything dramatic
Day 2 of asking for a phantom hourglass randomizer
Wow I’m early! 35 seconds ago!
10 minute gang!
First
yup
@@Everything_Was_TakenI mean the pinned comment is REALLY first
