My own experience is that being an only child wasn’t particularly easy but being an only adult is far worse. I have been a carer for my mother for five and a half years. Whilst I appreciate I could have siblings who don’t help out or only criticise, I still think I would feel less alone in this situation if there was someone to call on. As a child I wanted a little sister. As a teenager I wanted an older brother. Now I would be happy with ANY sibling! Loved the programme. Thank you.
There is nothing wrong with only having one child. I am an only child and I turned out just fine. And I shared my toys and I was social. It's really none of anybody else's business. And there is no proof that being an only child Henders you from having a normal healthy adult life.
I hated beyond belief being an only child..I remember being desperate to the point of probably having a mental health issue from the age of 5 trying to make my mother have a baby..the loneliness was palpable..I feel it to this day..I couldn't wait to have my second baby so my eldest wouldn't be as I..I remember the feeling of going home after playing knowing the playing was over for me but my friends had brothers and sisters to go home with..my mother loathed me always.
Zixun was the one with the most ethical stance, and reasoning at the end. When people bring kids into existence, you are putting them in a position where they are forced into expectations; where you cannot promise their safety, and happiness, nor promised that they will be fulfilled...a world where grape, assault, bullying, accidents, medical issue at youth or older(all organs start to shutdown; repeat repairs), and disease and death at the end. All this is on the table of possibilities. Just things people rarely talk about...what do you guys think?
My parents were from big families - 10 and 12 respectively - and 78 first cousins. Some cousins I've never met. My parents wanted at least six children, but health dictated just two live births, with me the elder and my little brother 18 months later. In my turn, and following a childhood trauma, I could never carry a pregnancy past 10 weeks, something we never advertised at the time. For us, the question was always: When are you having a family? There was immense pressure to be normal - whatever that is... In our 60's now and with the advantage of hindsight, we are content with how our lives have played out.
It depends on the kind of generation that the people are producing too. I don't think it's selfish if we choose not to give birth to a future population of homeless dangerous criminals with no educational support that terrorize the friendly neighbourhood
No children is selfish, one is selfish...how about 7? If you can't afford two, have one, if you shouldn't have children because you're alcoholic then none is best.
Everyone of them has their own problems - be it health, financial, personal or others that will adversely affect their children - yet almost all of them, *laden with optimism bias,* still want progeny (be it only 1 child or more) *as a coping mechanism to face life* - to give themselves a sense of meaning or happiness (to spice up their life), boost their ego and self-esteem, or other selfish reasons that *do not take into consideration the ethics of procreation.* To create life is to impose definite but unnecessary suffering and death sentence onto that being. Yet they claim to love their children (the victims) 😔 The vast majority of people are so unaware of their own selfishness and narcissism.

It doesn't matter how many children you have, JUST TAKE CARE OF THEM AND LOVE THEM.
Your guests candor and vulnerability is extremely admirable. Another excellent topic. So interesting. 🙏

It is NO ONE’S business whether a couple has any children, much less how many.
Where is the program on middle children. They will also tell everyone how traumatised they are.
Why would anyone want a child at all. Its not a good world. I wouldn't want to be the reason that another human has to experience it.
Don't have a child you're selfish . Have one child you're selfish.

Only child is the best decision for me and my hubby,my daughter now 18 years old 😊
Good reasons not to have any children at all.

Good show!
My 3 children are my biggest challenge and my greatest joy!! I can't imagine life without them!
You teach a child to share.....
That's why high IQ people have such good reasoning
I think people when they choose to have one child that’s mostly their lifestyle that they want
