    great video, first time ive come across your channel. if thats ok i need to ask for some advice for my daughter. she is 14yo and she runs usually 10k with me but she has very painful stitch that doesnt easily go away. we try to wait and go for a run at least 2 hrs after eating, we do some core workout and we have now been running regularly for over 6 months.during run she often needs to stop and i tell her to do side stretches but generally i dont know how to help her. she did fell on her ribcage when she was 4-5years old which we never examined, i wonder if this is something to do with this.. any suggestions would be me much appreciated.

    GOOD MORNING Dr. Ennis
    I love the symmetry of your body and that it's not overly muscular and to me womanly.
    This is the balance I'm after.
    Is this due to your height or the type of exercise you do?

    I have had calf strains in the past and used to try to massage them out but I heard that the cause of the pain can be a DVT and the massage could free up the clot which could lead to more severe problems. Have you heard this and if so do you have any thoughts on the matter? Thank you for the information.

    • @drkristieennis
      @drkristieennis  3 роки тому +1

      Certainly calf pain can be because of a clot. If you have risk factors, it’s definitely important to have it checked and to make sure to talk to your physician if there are concerns.
      Typically, if you are doing an activity and feel a sharp pain related to that activity, it’s more likely a strain.

      I typically start my patients with 1-2 sets of 10-15 reps. It also important to add cardio and strength. Certainly make sure you have no precautions before doing so. The recommendation is 30 min 5 days a week and 2-3 days of strength training.

    Hey Dr. Kristie - this video was helpful. My issue with calves always is with the outer gastronemius rather than the inner. tight bundle with very sensitive to pressure. • @drkristieennis
