  • Unofficial video of the song "Seventeen" by The Midnight.
    Movie : Say Anything... (1989)
    Lyrics :
    Seventeen, seventeen
City dream, city dream X 2
I was a runaway and you were a queen
Our tongues tied in the mezzanine
    We were free
No strings on you, no strings on me
I was a cannonball and you were the sea
When I crashed into your blue dream
    We were free
Time takes no prisoners, you'll see
    When you're seventeen
The thought of a spark could start a fire
    Tube top and faded jeans
How we forget how we desire
    We were seventeen, seventeen
We had city dreams, city dreams
    We were seventeen, seventeen
We had city dreams, city dreams
I was a runaway and you were a jewel
It was paradise in the land of fools
    We were free
No strings on you, no strings on me
    Free
Time takes no prisoners, you'll see
    When you're seventeen
The thought of a spark could start a fire
    Tube top and faded jeans
How we forget how we desire
    We were seventeen, seventeen
We had city dreams, city dreams
    We were seventeen, seventeen
We had city dreams, city dreams X2
    Seventeen, seventeen
    City dreams, city dreams
    Seventeen, seventeen
    City dreams, city dreams
    We were seventeen, seventeen
We had city dreams, city dreams
    We were seventeen, seventeen
We had city dreams, city dreams
    Seventeen, seventeen
    City dreams, city dreams
    Seventeen, seventeen
    City dreams, city dreams

The Midnight is simply one of those bands that comes once in a lifetime. They do not get the attention they deserve.

@@jasper_vs haha of course! it’s an old saying; basically our body grows older with time and unfortunately time doesn’t make any exceptions for anyone. being young isn’t permanent.

Imagine living in a world where the girl you were spending time with wasn't constantly checking her phone for attention from others. A time where you could just sit next to her and talk to her and listen to her with no outside distractions. A time where once she got in your car with you, all that existed was the conversation you chose to have, and the songs on the radio as your journey unfolded. Imagine a time where every moment you spent with her, was spent solely with her and nobody else...

Funkteon I yearn for those times . I’ve been with my lady since 2001 I was 12 she was 11 we’re very much of that ilk didn’t have the money back then for the cool cell phone , hell we haven’t even been online that long really compared to some people 2007 we finally got online . Had more important things to worry about our daughter was born in 2003 , we were still in school we didn’t have any money and obviously we still lived at our respective homes . I honestly can’t remember a time I was happier , I happy now we have five children and are relatively secure , but what went from being the most frightening time in my life finding out you’re going to be a father at 13 , and then she was born February 24th 2003 she shares and birthday with her mother , and from that day her and her mother were my everything and I was the happiest I think I’ve ever been and we didn’t have a pot to piss in .
Being a father I do worry about what these distractions are doing our brains and our sense of connection , sending people messages on Facebook or Twitter or even a text isn’t making human connections I feel it might actually be making people more lonely. It’s a fear I have for my own daughters and I talk with them about it as often as we can .
But face to face interaction is key in making those vital connections , I saw a friend of mine whom I went to school with , hadn’t seen her in years , but we were close in school that changed with the pregnancy news of mine of course anyway we chatted for a bit and I told her we’d have to catch cup and offered to take her out for lunch or a coffee you know what she said? , I haven’t really got time I’ll FaceTime you
that’s the kind of thing I’m talking about .

I imagine a time where guys wouldn’t constantly be exposed to Instagram models and tinder and other hookup apps always looking for the next best thing....and then a better thing after that....and so on....people don’t meet face to face anymore. I agree with you as as a young woman. I stay off social media because I think it’s addicting and socially rude in public. I don’t care if I’m a loner

Well i don't think they're particularly saying 17 is the best i think 17 is representing that period of time, basically your mid to late teens, it just had the best rhyme to it....

There's something about having a vocal hook over a guitar solo at the end that feels so amazing to listen to. It reminds me of like.. Michael Jackson's early stuff
