      He literally hired a guy who doesn't know about cars but seems to want to learn. Then says he's staying on parts and won't be learning anything anytime soon.
      The guy is running a shit shop off of his UA-cam revenue. He couldn't care less about his parts guy.
      He replaced 3 axels in that customers truck in a yr. I've had a lifted car and never needed an axel. But I forgot. He doesn't use the parts cannon and fixes things properly. What a joke!

      It is amazing that starting a channel had supplemented AMD's finances (and popularity) enough that he was able to open his own business, which, is a huge fucking deal and an amazing achievement for anyone. • @Dowlphin
      @Dowlphin Рік тому +1

      @@rossjohnson2478 It might actually not be primarily the honesty, which is hard to convey to a local potential customer base effectively, but it is the mix of that and his very detail oriented / passionate approach, clean workshop and all, and of course also the aforementioned UA-cam activity, which wouldn't work if every repair shop did that.

      it is weird how many mediocre shops are ok with having a mediocre reputation and mediocre levels of success. There's a top tier, 10/10 independent shop where I am, that I use. They do everything properly, stand behind everything, top quality work. They're ALWAYS very busy, and you'll usually be waiting some days to get in. Imagine that?

    I used to go to a mechanic who was top notch. His shop was as clean as yours. While he was an expert and really knowledgeable, his bad habit was not keeping you updated. He would do $1000 worth of work without letting me know first and he would never let me know when it would be done. My new mechanic is a former Lexus mechanic(over 10 years) and he is really good. He calls me before any work is done and tells what needs to be changed and what can wait. He also tells me exactly when it will be done. Refreshing compared to the last one.

    Congratulations! I very recently found your channel after buying a Camry & you've already taught me several things about Toyotas. Before this car, I drove only Datsun/Nissan Zs and Mercedes, mostly because the Toyotas I looked at (decades ago) were just not comfortable.
    You asked if we had any suggestions for the layout of your shop, and as a retired systems management consultant/car nut with nothing but this video to go by, it looks like you could gain a lot of floor space by putting your bay against the back door between the dock and fire door and moving the bottom lift to the front of the work area. It would make it tight to get the vehicles in/out of the other bays, but would free up enough space to do the in and out work (simple maintenance) without taking up a lift. I don't know IL fire codes nor why you are storing long term work inside the shop, so maybe this isn't feasible, but hey, it's a nickels worth of free advise.

    I want to tell you that I am personally very grateful to you for your channel and all the expert advice you freely give. I know you make money on your channel and you should! You are very honest and highly skilled. If your shop was not so far away I would trust all of my work to you. I have a lot of respect for you and what you do. I am sure you have saved people millions of dollars with all the information you disseminate. I managed a large Hertz location and have little trust for dealerships. There is a difference between making money honestly and taking it the way the dealerships do. Thank you again for everything! I think your shop is actually cleaner than most dealerships I've been in.

Thank you for everything you have taught me! May the Lord continue to bless you

    AMD, We are the ones who are truly blessed that you chose to open your shop, and before that to start making these videos. This was such a heartwarming video, and as always, you show us what an amazing and wonderful person you are. I thank you so much for everything, and thank you also yo Mrs. Car Care Nut and all of your staff. I'm in Rhode Island, so it won't be soon that I can thank you in person, but it's on my bucket list for sure. There is a small local country garage near me that is run by 2 brothers I've been patronizing for 50 years. It used to be a VW / other foreign car shop, but transitioned to Toyota specialist shortly thereafter. These 2 men have been there since they were around 10 years old. One of the brothers estimated that he rebuilt approx. 5000 VW engines, as he started part time after school at , like I said, 10 years old. These guys have a similar work and overall ethics as you, and I highly respect you all. I will send you pictures one day of their garage. Well, I kept you too long already, with so much love to my favorite wacky Iraky, bye for now.

    You should put the lifts in at an angle-- just like a parking lot. That way you can still easily back them out into your entrance, and you can squeeze them closer together since your lift posts will be offset from each other. Also doing it this way, you will have more working area in front of each car, rather than being right up close to the wall/ tool boxes. You may possibly be able to squeeze in two more lifts this way. I'm not certain without measuring the floor out, etc. But it sure looks like you have a lot of room in there that isn't being used.

    I can't even begin to express how happy I am for you and the whole family. Working there DOES sound like a dream, and I like to think of myself as being exactly like Matthew, except maybe not as neat/organized 😅. I'd give anything to pack up and come work for you, AMD. I'm under water here since starting at Toyota... My car will be 2 months behind tomorrow, my rent isn't even half paid, my insurance expires tomorrow, all of my credit card and utilities went unpaid, and I have less than $5 to my name. Everything you described about Matthew, from spending 30 (more, honestly) minutes deep in the FSM before asking someone, to learning things very fast, that's exactly me. I love diagnostics, I always have. I have an engineering and computer science background so, diagnostics and troubleshooting come naturally. I'd love to not be under the time crunch and forced to take shortcuts...
    Again, I am so happy for you. Your vid literally brought a tear to my eye. Here's hoping I don't become home & car-less soon.
    Love you, bro. It's so refreshing to see people that want to do things right. I get this sickening feeling in the core of my soul when folks want to cheat.

    The shop looks great AMD. Not only do you take great care of all cars you work on, but you also make sure that everything around you is top notch. It is extremely hard to find people like you these days. Most of mechanics just care about getting their work done as quickly as possible not caring too much about the results. But you definitely enjoy what you do and it is clearly visible in every video you post.
    I hope your business continues growing and you'll be getting great customers as well!

      Japanese car makers esp. Toyota are renowned for the reliability of their vehicles. Their vehicles seldom broke down. Their engines run fine and reach 6 digit mileage without the need to do any major repair on engine. All Toyota cars ask for is timely maintenance and if you do that, they will reward you with peace of mind and longevity.
