I was the DJ for that Lyricist Lounge battle. It was at the Sheraton Hotel hosted by KRS ONE. I played Where My Homies instrumental by ILL & AL Skratch. My name was DJ Megahurtz back then
Str8theat aka Megahurtz waz good my bro!!! Mr. Kenner aka BooLuv on the check in!!!
@@kennera Salute my brother! 💯
you should have asked G Rap to join you in the pic, it'd be a classic pic right now
Yo yo Kenny Parker, in my humble opinion...it was no big deal & you played yourself! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Yo to anyone that's reading this, it's an "Epic Fail" if you don't buy Kenny's book, "My Brother's Name Is Kenny". It's a great read & can help you relate better to what others are going through, so this can help you gain empathy & compassion for others. It's also a testimony to how great God is. Peace! 💯✊🏾
Man thank you for doing these history stories on hip hop. These events would be lost to history if not captured here. Big ups to the BDP posse!
Thanks for listening.
Why didn't you try to get Kool G to be in the polariod with you guys? That could've been sick
All good KP, who didn't love Road To The Riches back then. I still love that joint!
Man the era was soo deep so many artists dropping dopeness.
You should've had him in the flick, it would've been an epic win.
Epic Fail stories are the truth!! Keep em coming!!
Craig G is one of my favorite rappers, he don't get anywhere near the props he deserves from people today. He still consistently puts out heat. His last few albums/EPs have been incredible.
There was footage of the battle on the documentary FREESTYLE
All good!!!! Road To The Riches is a classic!!!!!
I was there at that Battle. Lyricist Lounge @ the New Music Seminar 1994. Most intense MC Battle i ever witnessed. Awesome Times!
You should have asked him to jump into the picture with you
KRS did acknowledge Craig G's greatness at his & Big Daddy Kane's versus event, right after the "Symphony" performance.
You got caught up DJ KennyP.😂
Hey Kenny thanks for the Super Nat story!! It sheds light on an experience I had with Super Nat about 10 years ago when I asked him a question about Kris and his response wasn’t as friendly as I thought it would have !! I’ll tell you more about it on Tuesday!!
Hey Kenny thanks for those epic stories!! Hip Hop knows Hip Hop and any decision made would have been the right one !! That pic would have made it to the Hip Hop museum !! 💪🏽💪🏽
All good you was showing G rap respect
Thanks Kenny for sharing these classic stories. This was my era as well. As dangerous as " The Deuce" was back then. It was a mega playground for teens and twenty somethings back then. I have so many memorable stories and good memories of that era. I wouldn't consider the Kool G Rap story an epic fail because I don't think he had any animosity towards BDP. I wish you had went and took the pic. That Craig G was an inadvertent classic fail, but you gotta give Craig G props for putting in the work and executing the right game plan. Also loved the book and thanks for signing my copy and one for my cuz when you did your signing last summer in Manhattan
Craig G pulled a " Rabbit" out the hat.....8 Mile reference
YOU ALL GOOD SON!LOL! AT LEAST YOU DID THE QUICK MOVE ON HIM 😂
G Rap could have been thinking the same thing lol but he probably was saying to himself YO THATS KENNY...KENNY PARKER
He walked away feeling dissed you didn't take a pic under his banner 😂
I don't blame you. Road to the Riches is one of the dopest songs!
Kenny, do u realize how many dudes are fans of tracks made by rival crews, including diss tracks. It's not an "Epic Fail", even Dj Yella admits how he alway loved "No Vaseline".
Return of the boom bap was the only album that made me get up and walk to the record store after seeing a video. The video had all the songs in short segments and Preemo fans knew by the scratch how awesome it was gonna be
All good except for moving to Self Destruction. That move was your self destruction lol. You should have just taken the Road to Riches pic!
Great story Kenny!! I think you did the right thing given the situation and the times my brother!! Lol.
you should have called Kool G Rap over to be in the photo??
cant wait for tues !!
Those were the golden years of hip-hop 💯🎤🫡
I’m about to laugh come down KENNY PARKER😆😆😆🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥let’s go
Yo Kenny Parker, What it Do Brother? Hope all is Good. But Anyways, Return Of The BoomBap Album Dropped in 1993, not 94. So what ya saying must've occurred in 94. I got all of B. D. P. / K. R. S. One Albums group / solo. 95 was his second solo album & 97 was his third album. Hopefully I didn't cause any confusions but that's the order ( by year ) the Albums Dropped.
Correct, Return Of The Boom Bap had been released in Sept of 1993. This story begins in early 1994, so we were still in the midst of the albums run. We had just released the second of three singles ("Sound Of The Police") when I met Supernatural.
@@djkennyparker ok. Then I was wrong on that part, my sincere apologies for that wrongful comment. Now I know & happily ☺ to know king ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
You tell great stories my brother. I think you did the right thing Kool G Rap was a real one lol
LOL Thanks!
Epic Fails are back!! 🙏🏿💪🏿
I think I remember seeing footage of the battle on some MTV show/documentary back in the day.. I vaguely remember Super Natural thinking he got set up somehow during the first battle and that’s why he lost. They eventually had a rematch later on..
Kool G Rap didn’t have beef with BDP.
I agree about Supernat being the best freestyler I have heard
All good. 👍🏽
All Good!
All good. Kool g is one of the best
All good 👍🏾
I enjoyed reading your book, Nuff respect!
Thank you so much for purchasing the book.
@@djkennyparker Much love from Amsterdam!
All good in the hood brother KP
All good 😆
like your content. keep on the good storytelling , we need more of these...
I especially like the part when you've found yourself between two fires. Helpin' a brother comin' in, just to help him gettin' over anotha one... Damn!Shit happens! If it's not premeditated, then you're not guilty. that's my humble opinion
All good
Been in my 20’s & a Hip Hop head at the time of 1994, I really appreciate this post/story.
Besides, of course, KRS, who else would you feel are the top pioneers/practitioners of hip-hop all-time, DJ Kenny?
ALL GOOD🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I got the new one very time that it was is amazing
For that day of age, I’d say you played yourself!😂😂. BUT, IF YOU HAD TAKEN THE PIC and spoken to G Rap I think it would have been all good!
played lol, but it's still all good
The funny part about that battle, I heard it from Stretch And Bobbito and thought KRS battled Craig G and loss 😂 I called them up steaming Bobbito answers the phone line like “Nah Nah Man, see i told y’all people was going to mix it up” 😅
All good. G Rap seems like a good dude
Absolutely NO FAIL, Kenny! Nothing wrong with taking a pic in front of Road to The Riches. I remember those photo backdrops especially at the Concourse Plaza movie theater on 161st St in the Bx. I always wondered whether there was some kind of copyright infringement going on with those vendors. I thought Kool G Rap would have a beef with the vendor for using the title, though.. it’s cool to see how humble you are, though, always showing mad love and respect for the hip hop community. Enjoy your summer!
Hey Kenny! When you mentioned going to college, I just remembered actually seeing you on the A train one day I think it was Manhattan. I instantly recognized you and wanted to big you up, but I flaked out! I believe it was the early 90s.. anyway, stay real, my dude! Love the channel !
Ha! You should have said wassup.
Hip Hop stories are the best!!! Thank you always for sharing!! Not an Epic Fail with the photo, but it would of been a classic photo with the Kool Genius of Rap!!
All good Kenny Parker!
DJ Kenny, did you meet Kool G again afterwards? I know you wouldn't discuss this incident, but it was cool, right?
I met him in passing once. I've never been formally introduced to G Rap. I don't know him at all.
@@djkennyparker Well you are a part of hip-hop history being a huge part of BDP. I love Build & Destroy and have heard it often since 1992... I hear your voice all the time! That track is truly unique, the way KRS breaks it down and spans cultural, military, government on a diss track??
Salute Kenny Parker!
Big fan out of Santurce, Puerto Rico
Are you considering a segment that can cover what the record label business was like in the late 80s early 90s, especially the indie circuit.
I remember most of the records I would buy were from Fresh Records, Sleeping Bag, Profile, Select, Wild Pitch and Tommy Boy to name a few.
What is your insight and opinion of the labels and their contribution to hip hop? The conversations usually lean towards culture vultures and the Lyors of the world but I believe in the fact that most of these record label owners took a risk investing in a genre that not even Black Execs believed in.
Add to the topic was BDPs experience with Jive and how the label was deep in talented artists at the time.
given the context of the time between the two groups Id say it like Ice-T..."yo homeboy, you played yourself" BUT you didn't because you caught yourself right away and made the necessary adjustment quick fast. imagine if that pic had got out at the time!
All good everybody was a fan of G rap.
It's crazy in a freestyle battle sometimes whoever goes 1st can win if they know the other guys attack..... Sorta like em did in the 8mile movie
All good KP 😅
You failed😂😂.
All goodN Kenny Parker!
It'z All Good Dogg!!
It was more of a diss to g-rap because if he wasn't there you were all about the pic... So homeboy you played yourself, get the Hellmann's lol
Yoooo!! KP bruh you played yaself 😝😝😝I can almost guarantee kook G wasn’t trippin
All good!
HOWEVER, you did pay yourself by not asking G Rap to get in the photo with y'all. I'm sure he would've did it because he and Kriss are cool.
When you go back home to Indiana get Mike Tyson out the slammer 😂
The “G Rap - Road to the Riches” story would only be an Epic Fail if it was Roxanne Shante, MC Shan, Marley Marl or Mr. Magic standing there. 👈🏾
Kool G Rap, BDK, Biz Markie, Craig G nor Master Ace never had any beef with BDP like that. Yeah they were in The Juice Crew but they never made diss tracks against BDP.
The main people who had real beef were Shante, Shan, Marley and Magic.
Craig G did make “Duck alert” dissing Red Alert tho
@@TYBO-xl1xz facts
It was no big deal.
👍🏽✌🏾‼️All Good. AND FUNNY
Dope Story!! So interesting!!
I Do Believe Bobbito Has That Craig G vs Supernatural Battle.
Craig G is a super strategist. Kenny was the enemy within BDP😂😂😂😂
LOL
Wow!
The KGR story was all love. The SuperNat was definitely a fail. You plan to get Nat on the show? Would live to hear his take on the battle. I remember Stretch and Bobito playing tapes of his freestyles. He would kill it with his BDK/KGR routine!
All good KP! All good 😁❤
You all good Brudda ❤😂
ENCORE EXCELLENCE ❗💪🏿🎤🎧🎤🍷🍷🍾🍾🎧🍾🍷
All Good 👍🏿
Good one KP 😂😂😂😂
Keep Them Coming
Finally❕‼️❕
All good Bro
Craig G DID EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO!
All good.
I thought Craig G basically ambushed him. I saw a clip
ummmm BONG.....but it could have been WORSE 🤣
Super was the best I have ever. He rhymed the dictionary.
All good KP😁
It was all good
It was all good KP
All Good KP!!..🤣😭🤣🤦🏽♂️
KGR issue is not a big deal! That was funny, though!
played yourself but like Kris said its a non issue
Started off playing yourself but all good in the end
I don't think it was an issue. Besides KRS was a Monsta ..... Especially THEN !!!!!
All good KP, no big deal, lol.
Kool G would've loved it that BDP was checking his track as dope, that you moved was played out.
