Your equipment setup is spot on. A/C and an enclosed cab... why? Heat, humidity and BUGS; like those flies you encountered a few videos ago! Well done sir!
Looks good brother. It looks like it went faster than the first time you cut it. A second person on the U-55 with the XCT-5 would be handy for the corners, tree thinning and on the borders, if the customer wanted it and pay for it.
Thanks Jeff! Yeah it definitely went faster this time around LOL! Yeah it would be nice to get the U55 with the brush cutter over there but for stuff like this they just want to minimum done to keep the lot in compliance with local ordinances and that's it pretty much.
Just wondering why you don't turn around and cut another line at the end of the long straight cuts instead of backing up cutting nothing. Seems like you'd get more cut.
Still don't have that guard on the hydraulic motor. Did the servicing, replaced the rear idler, and put on a new track but didn't have two minutes more to put the cover guard back on the hydraulic motor. When you break a fitting out of the side of the thing and have to buy a new hydraulic motor you'll wish you'd had time to put it back on. I'm giving you a hard time but it does need it just in case. This is a cake walk compared to the way this lot was the first time you cut it. Looks good. Ventrac tractors are nice pieces of equipment with lots of optional attachments. I've wanted one for a long time. Have the vacationers showed up in droves down there in Horry county yet? Stay well. -Wil 👍
Could you show us the controls you use when using this mowers sometime and how you switch between high and low flow? If you run it on high flow, you could use a lower engine RPM and save more fuel and less ware and tear on the machine. You should consider getting one of those flashing orange beacons on the top of your skid steer and excavator so when you do have to have your machine on the road, people can see you better. Especially with everyone not paying attention anymore.
Hey Kevin, check out this vid, I put a little tutorial on the cab and controls in this vid so check it out! Thanks! ua-cam.com/video/3PmEsyzs__o/v-deo.html
Yeah we have a lot of sandy loam. I don't offer it because most (if not all) of my clients don't care enough to pay for that, they just want the lots cut and that's it. Thanks James!
I agree with Scott. Why do you back all the way down a row instead of cutting nothing? I know sometimes you say you are making sure everything is cut and to chop sticks up finer. But, you can see there is nothing left on these rows.
Tou cant see it all in the vid I've ran one of these alot and when just going forward it just lays some over and when u back up it cuts it all real good plus when you back up you are mulching it it up real fine if he where to just run it like say a regular lawnmower the finish wouldn't be as fine cut and you'd hv stuff still layed over uncut him backing up insures the customer gets a perfect cut
I explain that at the end of the vid, I backed up all the way because I don't want to cut toward the road for safety reasons. The cutter could throw something and I don't want that going toward the road.
I have noticed that you do Not cut the grass etc when you are in reverse. Why don’t you keep your blade Down to cut as you go in reverse. Aren’t you wasting one ‘trip’ of mowing. And perhaps loosing time too. 🤠
I don't know anything about these machines. I'm just guessing what I am about to ask. Does this have any kind of hydro system return system and cooling system and recirculating system for continuous use of the fluid?
Yes the hydraulic lines are in-flow and out-flow and the smaller third line is a pressure relief line that returns excess hydraulic oil under pressure back to the hydraulic tank on the machine.
I do not understand why you keep going back ward and forward in cutting when you could just keep going forward. Just seems like you are afraid to use the full potential of this powerful cutting machine. Terry
Pulling back with the front of the deck a bit down pulls the downed material back into the blades with the teeth on the bottom of the main plate and shreds it up a lot more. Makes the finished cut look a LOT better. Plus, it helps clear the material that starts to clog the deck after a bit. You'll notice that this mower has no discharge chute, it's grinding everything up inside. It's a brush cutter, not a mower. So by pulling backwards, you grind that material fine and eject it to leave room for the blades. :) Plus, the mower will eject objects to the front, especially the front-right since the blades are spinning from left to right as viewed from the operator's position, so you have to keep an eye on the direction you're facing. Otherwise, you could throw chunks and high speed into one of those neighboring houses or out into the street and injure someone or damage things.
Interesting how many of those MTL cutters are on UA-cam. I tried to buy one myself but the company took my dough then canceled my order just befit was time for it to ship. Kept part of my money and now don’t answer my calls. Guess you mush have better luck than I. Now I have a high quality Diamond Mower. I think MTL did me a big favor by canceling my order. I try not to cut stuff on other people's property. this is a very simple job, yet you are making it triple difficult. You are WASTING time backing all the way back with your blade in the air!! If you do this for a living, mowing like you are mowing here you are eating up any profit you might be making, if any...
With respect, I completely explained why I was backing all the way up at the end of the vid, you have to watch the vid to the end typically to get the context of why I do things the way I do. And the reason I back up is that if I were to turn around and cut toward the road that is a safety hazard where the cutter could throw something into the road and hit a car or something of the like. I am not wasting time, I am being safe, and there is a big difference. I would suggest watching the entire vid next time.
Cutting forward but backward without cutting, that's an inefficient job, wasting time and fuel. You have to be focused, every movement of the machine has to be 100 per cent useful. Before take a jobs check first your blade are sharps.
You're wasting fuel going backwards and forwards, just go forwards all the time and do twice as much mowing instead of using your machine like a hoover.... Just saying....

I like the old fashioned way of weeding with adequate tools...!
How do you mean old fashioned? Doing it with a scythe or sickle? The hard way you mean?
Thing is he does it that way because of his own safety like snakes and other insects and animals
LOL I like the new fashioned way, which is sitting in a air conditioned machine away from the heat and bugs!
I mean: no fancy mowing devices
Some of those places looked like they needed the mulcher; pretty thick!

He cuts like that so he doesn’t throw debris out on the street or sidewalk, for safety of passerby’s.
He's mulching it up really good when he does that
Yeah I explained that at the end of the vid, but yeah Jeff hit it right on the head, I don't want to cut towards the street for safety reasons.
I was just about to ask this same question. Makes sense.
When you put your cover back on, try mounting it on rubber to absorb the vibration and welds should hold up better.
I'll see if I can find some! Thanks Bradford!

Isn’t this the same as using a tractor and bush hog? Really wanting to know the difference.
This is slower than using a tractor. I can bush hog 2 acres with a Ford 3930 in less tine than this video..
