- This is the original theme music to the post game interview show "Kiner's Korner" which aired after New York Mets games on WOR-TV. This music was used mainly during the 1960's and 1970's. The show was hosted by longtime Mets broadcaster and Major League Baseball Hall of famer Ralph Kiner (1922-2014). The song is titled "Flag Of Victory Polka" and is by Ira Ironstrings (AKA Alvino Rey). The song can be found on the CD "Big Band Polkas On Parade".
As a 15 year old kid watching the Mets head towards their first World Series in 1969, my dream was to be interviewed on Kiner’s Korner. What memories! I really miss those simple days. RIP Ralph, you were great in so many ways.
Welcome to KINER'S KORNER on Channel 9! Tonight's broadcast is brought to you by Dutch Masters cigars, by Chrysler --- Coming Through, by Manufacturer's Hanover Bank and Trust, and by Schaefer Beer --- the one beer to have when you're having more than one!
That's a great marketing line for the beer 😂
I have so many happy memories watching the Mets on channel 9 and then Kiners Korner. I was blessed to be a kid in the early 70's in Brooklyn. Brooklyn was the world.
Put it in capital letters and run it on page one!!
I'm from Brooklyn also, and In the early 70's We use to take the command Bus from Flatbush Avenue, off Campus Road at the Junction every Home Game. In 1971, and 1972 We must of gone to about 20- 25 Home games. In May of 1972, I'm proud to say that I was sitting in the left center Bleaches when Willy Mays hit His First Home Run As A Met.
BROOKLYN WILL ALWAYS BE THE WORLD.

Flatbush avenue...the Junction....I remember them well. Fond memories always.
We lost Lindsay Nelson in 1995, Bob Murphy in 2004 and now Ralph Kiner in 2014. I grew up with those Voices of New York Mets baseball starting in 1962. This music will always remind me of Kiner's Korner, and a much simpler time. Thanks for posting the Flag of Victory Polka!
So unrehearsed ( As it could not be ) but so great. I loved Kiner's Korner.
Sto Lat!
The show's name, "Kiner's Korner" came from the close-in left field seats in Forbes Field where Ralph Kiner deposited many home runs during his Hall of Fame career as a Pirate slugger.
OMG such great childhood memories!
Wow! I hear this and immediately think of my grandfather and my father! How many times did I hear this as a child! What a flashback!
There will never be another Kiner’s Korner like the one that Ralph Kiner did! Long live Kiner’s Korner!
Ralphie , being of German descent picked an old Bavarian polka to be his theme song. You only heard the first 30 to 45 seconds of it as Kiner's corner was starting. I go back to 1964 as a METS fan , so it brings back wonderful memories. Another thing the despicable Wilpon's changed. They raped the METS of much of their history and never respected the fact that they weren't the Dodgers.. I can give you dozens of examples, I despise them !
I can give you another one. No more Banner Day. One Sunday in the season the Mets would schedule a double header at home. Between the games, the fans would parade around the field with their custom made banners and signs for a contest.
Thank you for posting this. I have been trying to find this music for years! R.I.P. Ralph.
My pleasure, enjoy!
operator35 thanks for posting this its great
That was the Mets postgame Kiners Korner theme from 1968 thru 1982
Long time no see
RIP Ira Ironstrings (also Alvino Rey) and Ralph Kiner.
"The Mets are undefeaed in their six home victories." -- Ralph Kiner

Many Ralphisms! 😊
The Mets are going to the World Series......As excited as I am I must admit Mets Baseball just is not the same without Ralph Kiner!!!!!!!!
U h y
I will never forget once during extra innings, the camera showed a slumped Ralph not ready for the shot waiting for the game to end
Thank you for posting this! Interesting aside to this song and many think why they eventually changed the theme...this same song appears in the movie 'Confessions of a Nazi Spy' as a section of the Hitler Youth march.
I loved Ralph but wish all had a tribute !
Gone goodbye, two of Ralph's best were Gary Cooper has 95 home runs and coming up to bat, George Strawberry instead of Gary Carter has 95 Rbi's and George Foster.
Don't forget Mookie Brooks and Hubie Wilson too.
@@operator35 True he had so many combinations for Roy Lee Jackson like Roy Lee Johnson, Lee Roy Jackson, Lee Roy Johnson, and one time the Dewars must have really kicked in because he called Roy Lee Jackson by the name of a white Mets pitcher of Jackson Todd. How about Manufactures Hanover became Manufactures Hangover. What a pisser!
@Vincent Cuttolo Anders name reminded me of the Big Whistle Bill Chadwick who called Chris Kotsopolous Chris Kotstopolous the entire season and could never get Mario Marois quite right.

@Vincent Cuttolo Thanks, one time my late Dad and I are watching an afternoon Mets game and there is a close play at 3rd and Ralph says so and so is called out by umpire Frank Pallone. Frank Pallone is a NJ congressman. The umpire was Dave Pallone. I yelled Dad he did it again and he said what and I said he called the umpire Frank instead of Dave and he said something like the Dewars must of kicked in and we started laughing. Ralph was unreal.
I wish they would have done something for Lindsey and Bob also!
Who's the first guy with Ralph? Neil Allen maybe?
MrAitraining
Yes, Neil Allen is correct
😊
Sounds like circus music.
