Galagali Sir.... thanx a lot for the video ..... this test is vivid in memory .... Gavaskar got first of his 3 successive centuries in the series ..... India lost the first 2 tests ..... won next 2 and lost a close finish in 5th test ..... it was a joy to switch between ABC and AIR commentary ...... Alan Mcgilvry in ABC was a joy .....
Great! Memories of waking up at 5 am to hear anant setalwad and jasdev singh on AIR.One of the best series ever though it was a brand new Aussie side with the first 11 all playing for Kerry packer
Thank you very much for uploading this match here. Looking forward for the indias 2nd innings as Sunny scored brilliant 116 and india narrowly missed the triumph by 16 runs.
Thanks @ Jay. This was very interesting and close series and I guess last series before Kapil dev enter Indian cricket.. Kudos for sharing gem of Golden era of Cricket
My - that was a Brisbane soft (underprepared) 'greentop' . Look at the grip and turn that Bedi was getting in 1st hour of match! Reminiscent of Derek Underwood on a damp wicket. Great Indian spinners. But the least threatening opening (medium) pace pair ever seen in test cricket!
I remember watching this test on ABC as a 13 year old. Kirmani and Bedi were looking like they were going to steer India home with a narrow win, but once Kirmani fell, it brought Chandrasekhar to the crease (a well known 'bunny' batsman). Then they brought Thommo back into the attack which I recall vividly and you could see Chandra flinching as the balls whizzed past him. The Indians only needed about 17 more, but Thommo got his man caught behind. A well fought series, as India levelled after trailing 0-2 in the series, but we ended up winning the decider.
I had rushed home from school to eagerly turn on the TV only to find that Australia was 8/118 at tea and Bob Simpson after a 10 year retirement had been dismissed cheaply. I realized then that Australia was probably in for a very embarrassing one sided thrashing, and back then the Test series went right to the end of the summer well into February. India had easily beaten all the state teams in the leadup matches, if you could bet on cricket back then Australia would have been very much the long odds. Peter Toohey really looked a class above all the other Australian batsmen at the time but his career just fizzled out after that summer, as did most of his team mates.
Ha! I was in Year 11 when this game was on. WSC in its infancy and the Aussie team was a second string team with the exception of just a few players who didn’t go to Packer’s Pundits!
Thanks a lot Brother for uploading the 1977-78 series first test India V Australia. Can u please also try to upload same series 5th Test match played in Adelaide.
40 years old bob simson scored many runs against India this indicates that our bowling was very weak. Bedi never tried medium pacers. He used to believe himself only. When Kapil Dev became captain, he has given full chance to madan Lal Mohinder Amarnath. Even Bedi didn’t use Kapil in Pakistan otherwise we could have drawn that series.
The lovely loop of Bishen Bedi, always attacking. Peter Toohey could bat and batted well throughout the series. Was later undone with a west Indian missile.
Bedi had Chandra and Prasanna but persisted with Amarnath and Madan lal for a long time. Showed how much he was insecure and the regional partiality in the team. Bedi was a very insecure bowler and captain, perhaps the worst of all India captains.. see towards the end Chandra cleaned up the innings. Bedi himself bowled from one end but could have brought on Prasanna or Chandra before to bowl. So much for partiality and his insecurity helped Australia recover
I was around at the time so i know exactly why we had this sub-par lineup but, apart from Bob Simpson whose contribution to Australian cricket cannot be understated, this has to be the worst test top order Australia has ever seen.
Whole series listened on radio.in those days early in the morning IST.. it used to start at 05.30hrs ...great test series... Memorable..
Yes.. Absolutely... Once upon a time cricket was a gentleman's game

Fantastic upload - finally get to see bed I bowling - how flighty he was compared to modern flat spinners - and what a length
The matches were played at the same time as the breakaway World Series. Veteran Bob Simpson leading a fairly inexperienced Australian XI.
Madam Lals trousers are brilliant
Great. Waiting for rest of the days now
Thanks for uploading, hope you have the rest of the series, I think Australia won 3-2.
Ha! I was in Year 11 when this game was on. WSC in its infancy and the Aussie team was a second string team with the exception of just a few players who didn’t go to Packer’s Pundits!
He was a fine player Peter Toohey back then and to think Kim Hughes was 12th man
Thank you Jai Sir.
Shame India losing the series to a depleted Australian team playing without 17 of their regular players .
Jai sir I am veeeeery thank full to you sir to fulfill my dreams 🙏🙏
Please upload more videos of this series
A depleted Australian side still won the series 3-2!! Had the Australian world series players played, they most likely would have beaten India 5-0.
Thanks a lot Brother for uploading the 1977-78 series first test India V Australia. Can u please also try to upload same series 5th Test match played in Adelaide.

Hi nice, how about other days?
Gavaskar scored 3 centuries in those series
Corona ifect enjoy every day India tour Australia 1977
4 slips for a slow medium pacer is epic 😂
I was one year old.
My very first day watching test cricket.
Thank you for another excellent video Mr. Galagali! Do you know why Chandra (a right arm spinner) was always throwing with left hand while fielding?
Vasudeva Rao will find out!
His right arm was polio affected but he could bowl but no strength to throw
You are right
The voice at 11:10 sounds like that of Bradman. Could someone confirm this?
Sir galslai do you have any highlights of Pak tour Of India 1984 please reply me

Eight ball over those days..

@UC4XYi9h9wowbioXAxl7hBjQ I detest that opening captioning suggesting that cricket is no longer a gentleman's game. You are a git!
