his eyes, swirling whirlwinds of emotion bore intensely into mine. for a second, i could almost swear that he would say something…but like always, he remained silent.
my throat burned, tears threatening to spill. but i’d given him enough chances, enough was enough. i would no longer make excuses for the destruction he’s caused. i couldn’t bear to look at him any longer. so i did the only thing i could do. i left. the frayed rope between us finally snapped and despite my heart being pressed down by a pound of stone, i felt lighter than i’d ever had before.
slightly inspired by shadow and bone as i realized that this theme/mood really fits the darkling/alina's premise.
