Loved loved loved this! Lots of old pals but ohsomany new ones - my to read list is just getting bigger and bigger. I highly recommend the fab memoir A half baked idea by Olivia Potts and the lovely books by her dear friend Kate Young, who creates recipes based on food excerpts from famous books. And since you mentioned food Italian books and I'm from Piedmont, may I suggest Tortellini at Midnight by Emiko Davies (a wonderful Japanese-Australian cook writer who has been living in Florence her whole adult life) and From the markets of Tuscany by Giulia Scapraleggia,a native Tuscan that adores and celebrates her region.
Anyway, fabolous video and hope we will get more food related books recommendations in the future!

Fun video! I’m surprised you didn’t mention Elizabeth David because she seems like she’d fit in with the others you list. My fav foodie non-fiction was the Omnivores Dilemma by the wonderful Michael Pollan. Also very good: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and the Devils Picnic by Grescoe

So timely, as always, Miranda! My love of food writing began with Laurie Colwin's Home Cooking and More Home Cooking, and the Ruth Reichl books, and A Homemade Life. Another classic of this genre that I've enjoyed is Patience Gray's Honey from a Weed. And I'd also recommend Josceline Dimbleby's Orchards in the Oasis: Recipes, Travels & Memories. I've just finished Dinner with Edward which I loved and romped through in a day. So I was very pleased to have your recommendations for what to read next - I've just ordered the Felicity Cloake book from the library and love the sound of The Greedy Queen and several others that you've highlighted. Thank you so much, as always, for a much welcome video

Some excellent choices here, Miranda! I recommend M. F. K. Fisher's The theoretical foot, which is a novel rather than a memoir but with lovely food descriptions and a rather unsettling story. Ps: I'm a crepe girl myself (served with lemon and sugar always) though I do enjoy maple syrup on French toast with berries when in season.

Oh, I'm so glad that Donna is healing. Miranda, I love your suggestions. Molly Wizenberg is a fascinating woman, her two other memoirs are also superb (Delancey, about opening a restaurant with her husband, and The Fixed Stars, about the dissolution of her marriage when her sexual orientation changed).

Hi Miranda - I always learn so much from your book hauls and I am reminded of the books I have wanted to read especially Infused. So thanks so much for your thoughtful choices. One foodie book that I love is "An Everlasting Meal" by Tamar Adler. I loved this book since it was about being creative with the ingredients that you have. Hi again from Va! I'm not really a foodie since I'm rather a picky eater but I still really enjoyed your video and am happy to hear your mum may be back Friday! Glad she's better! Wanted to tell you I just finished The Hills is Lonely and I thoroughly enjoyed it; I love "visiting" the Hebrides thought books. I visit the Shetland islands through Ann Cleeves' series.
Am currently enjoying Chapel Sands, the memoir you talked about (Five Days Gone in the US); it's so intriguing. Akenfield by Ronald Blythe and Mr Wrong by Elizabeth Jane Howard, your mum's recommendation, arrived in the mail today! In other words, your videos are really helping me find more UK authors to read and enjoy! Take care! Off to make a pancake... 🤣📚❤️

We love pancake day in our house, we start with savoury and finish with sweet, it’s a real pancake fest 😂
I’m not usually drawn to foodie/memoir type books but I bought Dear Edward when it came out last year. I absolutely loved it, I’ve even made a couple of his meals, he introduced me to marinating steak in balsamic vinegar, delicious 😍
You have a fabulous collection, I’ve just added a load to my wish list 🤣

So many favorite foodie books! Especially 'My Life in France', 'Home Cooking' and Ruth Reichl's books. I'll have to get both Molly Wizenberg and Alison Uttley's books, too. The next foodie book I'm going to try is 'Dinner with Edward' because the description sounded so lovely and fun! The only problem I have is that books about food make me SOO hungry and already love eating too much - lol. Thank you for such great recommendations! :D (P.S. The pancakes looked amazing, though I think I prefer waffles with peanut butter and maple syrup on top. Your hair looked so pretty in the intro - wish my hair would do that!)

Hi Miranda! Thank you for making this pandemic manageable. Your videos keep me going. Here are a few food books you may like. Fair warning, however. The moment that I completed Michael Ruhlman's book, I put it down, drove to the nearest cooking school and enrolled in a two year program! (1) Michael Ruhlman - The Making of a Chef and The Soul of a Chef, (2) Jacques Pepin - The Apprentice, (3) The Tummy Trilogy - Calvin Trillin, (4) Richard Olney - Lulu's Provencal Table, (5) The Auberge of the Flowering Hearth - Roy Andries de Groot.

I love many of the books you mentioned but haven’t heard of Infused-I must look for it as I’m a big tea drinker. If you haven’t already, please check out Gourmet Rhapsody by Muriel Barbery. It’s a slim novel about a dying food critic who remembers the memorable meals and foods he had. I’d also like to recommend Voracious: a Hungry Reader Cooks Her Way through Great Books by Carla Nicoletti, a combination of love for books and food. Hello Miranda, my heart soared when I saw the pile of books and it was great to have some recommendations as I love food memoirs too. Co-incidentally today is the actress Patricia Routledge's birthday and James Runcie, the author, wrote a programme for the television series Bookmark called "Miss Pym's Day Out' which you can find here on UA-cam and I would really recommend that as it has 'characters from the novels wander in and out of Barbara's 'real' life as she goes from her home to the parish church to the village hall and then takes the train to London' for the Booker Prize (her novel "Autumn Quartet' had been shortlisted). Here's a link if anyone is interested: ua-cam.com/video/mi8Zezov9RQ/v-deo.html - thank you for this review and enjoy your week and looking forward to Friday, Teresa ❤️📚👩🏻‍🍳📺🥞❤️
