This is a SurgiReal suture training skin pad. I LOVE this suture pad! Well worth the money and great company to work with. All our students are required to buy this. www.surgireal.com/our-products/suture-training/

Do certain sutures work better than others? Does it matter? Or does it just come down to whatever works best for for the person doing it? If so, what's your favorite to do?

Best cosmetic sutures are the intradermal sutures since they don't buttonhole the skin, but they're only applied to certain types of wounds

Why would you do this on skin? Does it provide greater strength? Thanks.. I m a FM doc.. we use to do these when we did repairs in OB.

A running locking suture is mostly about speed. It's much faster than doing a simple interrupted suture. I would not say that it provides greater strength, but it's probably comparable to the simple interrupted. Thanks for watching!

You wouldn't do that on a normal skin, since you have to remove all sutures if the wound gets infected, so the wound will be open again and will heal by second intention, which is cosmetically undesirable.
