Thanks for reporting in. It’s just so sad what has happened and the ongoing suffering of all those people. I sure hope that there will be no more aftershocks and loss of life. Best wishes Jeremy.
I’m Niigata, Japan citizen and I always see this channel. Thank you for your consideration. (My city position is about 200km from Ishikawa prefecture. ) For latest Japanese news, Over 30 people dies by Tsunami, Crash House and fire. Tsunami wave had over 5m in Wajima city. It seems to increase these people. Especially, Tip of the Noto peninsula has critical damages (Wajima, Suzu and some of city) and rescue can’t use some of road on this area. Japanese government decide to use not only truck but also ship. Noto Airport has a crack appeared on the runway and it is impossible to use now. Over 500 people stay this airport now.
My house didn't collapse, but the shaking caused bookshelves to tilt and books to fall out, as well as the refrigerator to open and food to fall out. Finished cleaning up today. As of today, there are 74 victims and 138 families whose homes have collapsed and are waiting for help. Several roads have collapsed due to the earthquake, making it difficult for relief supplies transport vehicles to reach the area. 32,500 homes are without power. 24,800 homes have no running water. At Haneda Airport, an A350 passenger plane collided with 8 DHC planes from the Japan Coast Guard on the Noto Peninsula, carrying relief supplies. All 379 passengers escaped and survived, but five people on the plane transporting relief supplies died. Bad things continue.
We were also in Osaka, particularly at Kinopio’s Cafe in Universal Studios Japan, we felt the rolling too while we were eating but luckily no major damage at the park
Thank you for the update! Hopefully everyone is ok and we hope there is no more big quakes forthcoming. Stay safe Jeremy. We enjoy your content every week and hope you can report on this if anything more happens. Happy New Year as well.
Jeremy -- Thanks a million for sending this. I immediately was worried -- I've been watching all your videos for a few years now, and It's become a Saturday morning ritual. So you've become a friend. We're familiar with quakes here in California, and what happened in Japan could happen here. So are you still planning to go up to Hokkaido where they get so much snow? -- charlie, sacramento CA
Got an alert at 6.32am in Osaka today, origin seems to be same area, a 5.8. Felt nothing, was interesting to watch this though. Alert said “strong shaking expected”. Very effective alarm.
I got that alarm too today. Didn't know what to do, nothing happened, saw where it was on the NHK website, and spent a while trying to get back to sleep. Effective indeed
Glad you are okay!

Thanks Charlie.
I wouldn't say I'm *planning* on going to Hokkaido -- just that I hope I decide to go in the next month or two :)
So very happy to hear that you are safe and sound. We were all worried, as you know.
Your post showed up in my UA-cam subscriptions 2 hours before NHK's first UA-cam post announcement of the earthquake.
Scooped 'em
Glad to see you are OK - especially after just having watched your Ferris Wheel video.
I’m just glad you weren’t on a Ferris wheel when it happened.
Heh, I thought of that. Talk about an experience to remember...
Glad your okay!
Thanks. Very interesting. Take care please. Prayers for the people of Japan. 😊

Thank you so much for the update and I am happy to know you're okay!
Thanks for the candid view on this monster earthquake. Very strange it occurred on the Western side of Honshu. Is that side known for earthquakes?
I think pretty much everywhere in Japan is known for earthquakes, unfortunately
Thank you for sharing...
Thanks for touching bases with us, hopefully the worst is over. Stay safe.
