A country is a nation's home. If I am a guest in someone's home I am not entitled to participation in the decision making. If I am a foreigner in Switzerland I am not entitled to vote and there is nothing wrong about it.
If you were born in that house, you have been raised by that household, you are working with and for them and you and your children will stay there, you're not a guest anymore and you should be given the right to have a say in decisions that will be affecting you and your family.
By this analogy, the EU is like an open office, with open passages between the homes of nations: you can go visit, get to know the friendly neighborhood.
I'm an immigrant myself, even if not in Switzerland. But I think that if I want to gather citizenship of my new home country, I for sure have to make an effort on my own part: either through influencing my fellow citizens to recognise my worthiness and vote in my favor; or by going through the existing procedures set by the government and authorities to get naturalized. Since both possibilities are given, I still have my choice: do I really want to make that effort or not, and I can still choose to leave that new country of mine or live happily along without being their citizen.
Let me share my little story. I knew little about Switzerland and had no idea what kind of country it was. For me, it was just a name and nothing more. I didn’t even suspect that this is such a beautiful, rich and prosperous country, but literally 2 years ago I suddenly fell sick with the idea of moving to Switzerland, and subsequently obtaining citizenship there, fully integrating into Swiss society and being worthy to live among these people. I even began to seriously learn German in order to live and work in this country in the future. Switzerland became my obsession and I thought it was the best country in the world and its citizens were the happiest people on Earth. Yes, compared to them, I am not so lucky. I was born and raised in a country with one of the highest levels of corruption in the world and one of the lowest living standards in Europe and in the world, too. My homeland is a country with some of the richest deposits of natural resources on Earth, as well as some of the richest oligarchs in the world, and at the same time some of the poorest and most socially disadvantaged citizens. This is so damn unfair, I thought. My country will never be like Switzerland, because my compatriots have historically developed a mentality of the poor and slaves, ready to work for a penny, who, moreover, are not able to give rise to a single worthy and intelligent ruler - only thieves and clowns who year after year plunder the country, giving away its wealth to Western puppeteers for nothing. Yes, this country is not able to give anything to its citizens - it seeks only to take away. Alas, this is the reality, and as a representative of the middle class, a year ago I finally realized that there was nothing for me to do in my country, and I began to make plans for Switzerland, dreaming of a better future in a better place. But then the war broke out in my country. By the way, on February 22, 2022, I wrote in my notebook of desires to buy a beautiful house in Switzerland this year, although to be honest, me and my family do not currently have such financial opportunities, although by the standards of my country we are not poor people at all, but we, of course, will not be able to cope with Switzerland, and we will not have such conditions in which we used to live in our homeland for this money, so we decided to emigrate to another European country. I naively thought that acquiring real estate in Switzerland in the future would give us the opportunity to quickly obtain citizenship there, but I studied this issue in more detail and realized that even having a house for several million dollars, you are nobody in this country and have the right to live there only 3 months on a temporary basis as a tourist. Correct me if I am wrong. In general, obtaining a residence permit in Switzerland is quite problematic, not to mention employment and citizenship. In addition, even if you marry a Swiss and have a child with him, you are essentially nobody in this country either, until you live in Switzerland for at least 5 years, having fulfilled a whole bunch of other conditions and so on. Well, I realized that obtaining Swiss citizenship is an extremely burdensome, tedious and, I would even say, humiliating procedure. And today, after watching another video of our emigrant in Switzerland on UA-cam, I concluded for myself that a foreigner will always feel like a third-class person in this country due to the specific mentality of the Swiss. Yes, they are wonderful people. Yes, probably, they are really better than us, because, unlike us, they did not bring their country to poverty and war, although not always and not everything in this world depends on people - as a rule, the roles of each country are distributed by the political elite, and it only depends on us whether we play their games or not. Switzerland was destined to be a place for happiness and prosperity, and I can sincerely rejoice for these people, but just this morning I finally realized that I don’t really want to live in this country. After all, even Switzerland has its downsides, and many freelancers prefer to live in warmer, more foreign-friendly countries. Believe me, there are many wonderful places to live in the world, and the light has not converged like a wedge on Switzerland alone. I'm thinking about moving to Spain, Malta or Greece. I especially like the island of Mykonos. Yes, these countries are not as rich as Switzerland, but much more friendly to expats. And here are the main conclusions that I eventually came to: 1. Don't knock on closed doors and don't go where you are not expected. 2. Don't let others make you feel like you're not worthy. 3. No, you are not worse than others. It’s just that not everyone is lucky enough to be born in the “right” country, but that's not your fault. 4. There are enough beautiful places in the world for a happy and comfortable life. 5. Switzerland is for the Swiss🇨🇭 P.S. And now imagine my surprise when a little over 2 hours ago I came across this video in the UA-cam recommendations, and it was posted only 12 hours ago. This is definitely a sign.

I live in Holland and we have so many foreigners coming to our country because it is so easy to get in here and participate. However, the locals are getting annoyed with this, because people do not feel grateful when they get something which they did not work for. Its so easy to solve this problem wt foreigners, DONT ACCEPT THEIR WORKFORCE, DONT USE THEIR KNOWLEDGE, DONT CHARGE THEM THE SAME TAXES, AND last but not least, DONT GET YOUR MONEY FROM COMPANIES THAT OPERATE OUTSIDE SWITZERLAND. just to asure that this blessful xenophobic place dont need enybody else to thrive 🙏🏽💫✨
True Democracy the best country in the world ❤🇨🇭
The Switzerland system has seemed to work but if it isn't for you then go to a country that lets you become a citizen faster like the United States. All that is really required is you are born here or you go through legal immigration (ignore all those millions flowing over our southern border).
Although I can’t agree with you more, that isn’t the point. You missed totally.
There is no need for legal immigration into the USA. No need to be a citizen either.
@@gabrielaalbarracin6130 I didn't miss a thing, look at all the comments below. If they don't appreciate or value you, leave. If you don't like a TV show, don't watch it, if you have a person who doesn't appreciate you, don't stay with them. I have never judged a person other than, "can they do the job they are applying for, and will that make a better team that the company can depend on?" Male, female, color, who cares if they can fit in. So if you are telling me that you have to wait for 2 or 3 generations to have your descendants accepted, then why are you still there?
@@defan2105 lol you left on another tangent. In my opinion, she just described how Swiss democracy has its peculiarity regarding immigration and not about immigration. Have a fantastic life, stay calm and carry on.
@@gabrielaalbarracin6130 well sorry if I missed the point then but I don't understand people not being appreciated. I have fought it at my church, and my job, and I just think people need to come to a country or job, offer skills, and try to fit it. The Otherside of it is that people should observe each person's worth and try to use that to help them succeed while keeping the traditions and standards. I just want people to get along and appreciate each other while not impeding on traditions either. I'm old and want to leave a better world than I found. Be Well Be Blessed.
Top talk. Thank you for being so intelligent
I actually tend to disagree and i wrote a lengthy commet (above) outlining why. The video is actually quite politically motivated and manipulative, leaving out facts where it serves her political agenda. Perhaps being a bit more sceptical is not a bad trait when deciding which information is "good" information.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Man has the worst habits of labeling people for everything and governments oppose racism reject foreign values and discriminate amongst people accordingly which is so bad!
You can get recognition but locals don’t want heavy competition as they ultimately want to retain power for themselves as well as their traditions!
Thank you so much for your interesting narrative!

Good for you for pointing the racism of old Europeans. Its OK to use people for cheap labour but not to belong
What you are accusing "old Europe" for is the norm in most parts of the world and throughout history. If you do not like it, don't go there.
@@defendliberty1289 you are ridiculous. When there are economic currents that motivate incoming people to perform jobs in a society, however much the rightwingers of a country want to preserve "their culture", the new incoming people belong and form part of the society. Its unstoppable.
@@aynos629 The "unstoppable" argument is part of the "internationalist" agenda that wants to persuade the peoples that they are subject to forces outside their control in order not to react. The only real master of a people's faith are the People themselves. That is the gist of Democracy for which revolutions have happened. In this sense the Swiss system described here is excellent: either join our culture or get out of here.
@@defendliberty1289 still ridiculous. If you use people to do your menial jobs, you are incorporating them in your society, you like it or not. You are already doing it. And if you resist it, your sons and daughters, and grand sons and granddaughters will mingle and have mixed origin families and you like it or not, your blood will run through the veins of those you want to kick out. They will be related to you. Family. They will be your heritage. So, if you want to preserve your pure breed status, you better start cleaning your own parents' arses and make sure that somebody of your calibre, will clean yours when you are old and decrepit, although decrepit you seem to be already. No piece of paper, or theoretical rethoric is going to stop the amalgamation of nationalities and races in reality, not in the fascist fantasy of the "preservers" of culture

I usually call this phenomenon the Sodom syndrome, the set of excluding characteristics that more prosperous societies acquire in relation to foreigners, a veiled type of xenophobia, especially towards those from poor countries.
No. It's called the "nation- state" and has brought us such things as democracy, human rights etc compared to the preceding "age of empires" that some want to impose on us again.
Inhospitable Sodom = Xenophobic Switzerland. There is a reason Swiss banks are a refuge for the very filthiest foreign money from really questionable characters.

Agree, I only wish any US President would put equal rights into the constitution and not depend on the courts for the obvious. It takes a little work but it would easily get ratified by all the states and then that would be that. It should have happened a very very long time ago. Just write a simple bill, focus only on women, and it would sail to the finish line.

You are a selfcentered person. All your historical excerpt does not reflect the process that was held before. Yes it was 1971 for Women to vote. But there we are: we like to consider things before we introduce them. Something the UK could have considered before leaving the EU.
??
I think youre writing is little misleading. Do you want to say that the Woman voting right were granted because the most Swiss mens voted for yes and in other countries the Woman Voting right were forced on the Men, which isnt democratic?
@@bfgb9269 Exactly, the implementation usually takes a little longer than in other countries, but the acceptance of the decision made is higher among the population than in other countries.
Wenn the EU wanted to introduce the Euro some countries were overhyped and let the people Vote. And the people Said No, nur the EU wanted it. But all countries Mist say yes to the Euro that the Euro could get introduced. Therefore the EU forced to Accept the Euro wenn the one EU Member met the requirements.

We’re caught up playing the impassioned protagonist in our Subjective Narrative of Self - 🟥
@@Exodus26.13Pi The Narrative of Self is the story we tell to ourselves about ourselves, ie subjective rationalization.
