- Here's the full race from bow seat's point of view of Undine's Club 4+!
We placed 24/44 so we didn't automatically qualify. It was a very average race, bit tough to actually turn since our skeg was far too big, which I unfortunately realized after our race, but it was some good fun training with the boys and getting out on the Charles!

Before anyone says anything… yes we had some poor turns towards port, yes I was pulling as hard as I could, yes the skeg was far too big for this course - but I only realized that was the main issue after the fact.
Also, the boat trained in a coxless four up until the week of the race. This was our cox’s second time in the boat, so I made some calls on things we had worked on in training.
Gosh, so true Eamon. You’re so wise, and may I say, very handsome as well.
Is it common to swap fins for the Charles? I mean other than putting a Douglas foil and rudder combination I doubt the area of a plate changes much with these kinds of Reynold's numbers? Would appreciate if anyone has experience experimenting with fins other than the AeRow Fin.
Sorry about that. I was stroking the Iona boat and was so locked in that I didn’t hear you guys coming close until we clashed. Good race🤝
Hey, no worries man! Sorry we seemed testy, guess we were all just locked in trying to get into the race. Good racing all around! 🤝
Skeg is a new term on me for Fin/rudder. Super high quality footage though. Must have been soul destroying to see that boat creep up the inside at the end, but most of us have been there!
Hahaha I’ve always called the fin a skeg for some reason. Those northeastern guys were quick af, I think they got 3rd? No shot holding them back.
I love watching the race from this viewpoint!
Probably my favorite thing to do! I’ve done this once before in a race, bow of the Commercial 2nd 8+ in the Skibbereen Regatta in 2019!
Great row. Fantastic stretch of water.
Nice row guys!
Cheers Chris!
and I thought it was the job of your cox to to give you information or commands ;-) keep up the good work
Hahaha so fair - but it was her second time with us and we didn’t have much time to go over a race plan and such. After training in a coxless four for about 5 weeks before getting in a coxed boat, I made some calls on things I remembered us focusing on during training.
Did that guy scream BOWBALL at 12:17?
Yep, a classic callout. Hurts a bit on the inside hahaha
How in the hell can you talk and row?!?!?!!??!😂
Clearly I’m not pulling hard enough and doing too much thinking ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Seems pretty long for a short
Short… effort?
