NOT WHAT YOU THINK!! Marlin 1895 Trapper vs Marlin 336 BIGGEST DIFFERENCE

- Become a Channel Member! / @masonoutdoors_masonle... Ruger has released several Marlin Lever Action rifles over the last few years but the biggest difference between two of the most popular models, the Marlin 1895 Trapper 45-70 and the Marlin 336 Classic 30-30 Winchester, probably isn’t what you think.
They’re both highly reliable lever action rifles capable of hunting medium and large game and the Marlin 1895 Trapper is an all-weather beast while the Marlin 336 Classic is just that, a classic deer rifle.
So what’s the biggest difference? Watch the short to find out! - Розваги
Back in 2019, my local gun store had a %50 off of all ammo. I snagged about 20 boxes of 30 30 for roughly $8 a box.
Just got myself that price for 308 hunting rounds from Norma.

@@colechurchill730 it was a store swapping hands. They had em on clearance for $19.91. Then they were running a deal for half off clearance items.
I don’t think they were supposed to sell em for half off, but I took advantage of the kind managers generosity.
@@colechurchill730 sorry I can’t get you the sand deal though, boss.
I’ve got one of your cartridge cuffs on my 1981 Marlin 336 and it looks beautiful. Thanks for your hard work on it
Glad to be of service!

Thanks bud, always good to have feedback from someone that truly appreciates his firearms.
Damn $45 is a deal, the last time I found a box of 45-70 they were like 60 bucks.
I looked at a box of 45 Colt yesterday and quickly put it back on the shelf. $78.99!
You have to reload
I remember when 30-30 was $5 a box🤦
I'm not that old, but I remember thinking 7mm rem mag was expensive at $25 a box. I'd LOVE to go back there now!
I just picked up a new ruger made marlins 1895 skinner trapper in 45-70. Found your website immediately when searching for a cartridge cuff for the stock. I’m left handed so it’s nice you offer that as an option, plus made in the USA- can’t wait to order!
I chose the 1895. In Ohio we can hunt with a straight walled cartridge but not the 30-30.
I'll also be reloading so ammo cost is not a big issue.
A Bigfoot & Dogman killer for sure🤔
.360 Buckhammer probably qualifies for you, but Marlin isn't chambering (yet), only Henry.
That rule is so stupid. Dumb communist liberal politicians
Beautiful guns
Indeed they are. But honestly they should be for the price.
Respect for putting Leupold on both. America’s scope maker. Early last year after taking delivery on a $3600 custom left hand bolt 300WM, I determined to put the best glass period on it. Looked at Swarovski & Zeiss & the top of the Vortex lines. Put the VX6-HD Leupold against them, spent an hour on this exercise & decided the Leupold VX6-HD 3-18x44 had the best image. It sits low too, with easily adjustable settings without what I think is that goofy tactical look so many want now. That system they added that returns you right to your original zero without needing to count is fantastic. Apart from my first rifle, Remington Model 700 Classic in 243 with the same 1981 Redfield 3-9x40 it has worn since getting in & a Henry Long Ranger in 243 that I mounted a Zeiss Conquest on, all my rifles mount Leupold glass.
That Classic is simply... delicious. ;) Cheers.
Hello are you going to do a full review of Ruger built Marlins? Love to see a full review of 336 comparing to your older JM built Marlins
The old JM were good.
Beautiful! I have 30-30!s in Win 94 and Marlin 336. They are deer slaying machines in the northwoods. Love them both!
I harvested my 1st Whitetail Deer in the northwood of Maine in 1980 with my Model 94 in 30/30. ,43 years ago.
That's a cool picture of the buck on the wall. My parents had one identical to it
I got a marlin in 35 Remington love that gun had it for 30 years marlin makes great firearms
I have a Marlin 336 JM in 35 Remington. I found it in Alpena, Michigan several years ago.
Ive got a 35 remington marlin 336 nice buck with it this year😂
love the leather craftsmanship as well great job!!
I just got some nice 45-70 for about 36 a box which is a steal. And it's major brand in heavy weights!! Nice!! I will be looking you up for some leather ammo holders!!
I’m more concerned about why you would need a optic that large on the lever guns. I can see a red dot but not a full size optic. But to each their own
Because iron sights cover a third of the deer at 150 yards. The cross hairs only cover an area the size of a dime. I prefer iron inside 75 and scope past 75
Wood and blue is classic and looks great. Stainless is great for low maintenance.
My 1894 44 mag should be in anyday now. Looking forward to trying it out and some of your leather gear with it!
I like the 336 classic 30-30
Interesting. I'm happy with my 30-30.
Me 2
I've had an original 336 and 1895 from Marlin. Very smooth actions and good shooters. I'm glad that they are back on the market but the price is crazy. Not doing that.
Bring back the 35 rem
Everyone who knows about it loves 35 rem.
It’s still out there you just have to search for it…
@@wayman1776Nobody makes a rifle chambered in 35Rem anymore. Ammo yeah rifle no.
I just don’t care for optics on lever guns, just a personal thing
Neither did Tha Rifleman !
Some have trouble with the eyes and the Marlins are good for that with the side eject.
Got a gun show coming up Dec 3rd. Hoping to find one of these beautys or a henery big boy
Henry doesn't have a cross-bolt safety!
I appreciate that you pronounced lever as lever and not as lever
I pronounce it how I’ve always heard it and always will
Nothing wrong with pronouncing it lever, but lever is just wrong.
I say lever. It doesn't bother me that other people say lever. It just seems like a lot of unnecessary effort.
I typically say envelope too instead of envelope. Tomato/Tomato ...
Both are beautiful!
Ruger QC is already evident in the wood and checkering on that 336. I'm more of a traditionalist, but both are really nice. Just comes down to personal taste for me.
Does this one have the same unloading feature through the loading gate?
Beautiful and gorgeous gun
I've got the micro groove 336 hooded front sight 30 39 made in 1974 that"s had 6 rounds fired since I bought it new. ( Because I biught 2) the ammo is very difficult to find. Dandahermit
I just wanna know when are they gonna make the 44mag version
Great looking leather work!
I absolutely love the 4570 leather cuff on that trapper. Do you have ones just like that?
I'm sure he does. He makes some great stuff I have several cuffs from him.
I make them
Beautiful
i love marlin! BEAUTIFUL firearms
What scope and mount is that on your Marlin? I have a leupold scout style but want something more accurate. By the way, my Marlin WildWestGuns .457 is sporting your cuff on the buttstock. In Alaska, cost of the round is just part of doing business.
I’m glad to be a part of your setup! The 45-70 has a Leupold VX-3i 1.5-5x20, the 30-30 has a Leupold VX3HD 2.5-8x36, both on Talley ultralight LOW rings
subbed after this
I split the difference and went with the 336 SBL...stainless and laminate 30-30 😊
Hear me why does ruger not find a way to put the 300 RCM in a 336
What rings are you using?
I like your product
Here’s an example of advertising that works. Thank you.
Now that’s a compliment! Thanks!
I’m waiting for the 45 70 cowboy. Probably never see it
I bought my 440rds of 3030 8 years ago. 150 grain and 170 grain Remington
Nice
I have a 336 A. it was made in 1952.
I think we both have excellent taste in guns I like leather too
Both great guns but I’m not one to want to take a bright shiny rifle hunting.
You'd think Ruger would make a 450 bushmaster lever gun. I know 100000 people wanting one each
I still don't understand the bubbled lever, unless you're wearing thick gloves or spinning it for FaceBook videos. Otherwise, it creates space between your hand and the lever. And space equals "play." And I don't like play. Please tell me why I need a bubbled lever. Thanks!
So they don’t make a stainless synthetic in a 30-30?
I have not see anyone do accuracy testing on the old Marlin bs Ruger Marlin. You should
Qual valor de uma dessas?
In Queensland 4570 rounds are about 4 dollars a shot
Like to have a leather cartridge holder that goes around your chest like cowboys in the old western movies.😊
You mean Mexican Bandito
My brother shoots at comps
Custom 45/70 so I bought him a box and i think it was like 58
You nailed it. Unless your going for grizzly, moose, or elk size game forget the 45-70. Most areas of the country dont contain the larger megafauna. Most people are best served with 30-30. Its amazing to see how many 45-70 marlins are sold to folks who spend no time in Montana, Wyoming, Alaska or the wild places in Canada.
Iowa says you must used a straight walled Cart for deer.
You have both made equally good points…but Iowa needs to change it’s ludicrous law.
I would love one of those leather stick boots but I can't afford one. I'm 80 abd still shooting. Haha. Dandahermit
I have tried contacting you about something I want made.....what is the proper way to contact you???
In the video the bluing looks more black? Is it comparable to the old style blueing on the older Marlins?
I wouldn’t call it “black” seeing it in-person but I see what you mean, if anything I’d just say it’s a darker “blue,” I personally like it better seeing it in-person, it is hard to show well on camera.
Thanks
Really wish they'd have ditched that cross bolt safety.
I bought w/w .30-30 silvertips from Walmart for $3 and change. That was back in 99. Still a good price.
Doesn't seem that long ago that 30-30s were $7 box.
What scope do you have on the 336
Leupold VX3HD 2.5-8x36
Would you ship to Australia?
My grandfather recently just passed and when going thru his stuff we found a bunch of his leather. Any possible way I could send you some to make stuff for me?
email me photos and info, you can find my email on my website
“Lever action reliable” 😂😂😂 I love all of my lever guns, but talk about the absolute last thing I would want in a survival situation due to their complication.
What kind/model of scope you have on the 1895?
Leupold VX3i 1.5-5x20 , they don’t make that exact model anymore
The price makes you hit what your aiming at.
Fuck it I’m buying both
The 336 Classic has a lever I like better aesthetically. However, for trick rifle spinning...the other with a more oval shapped lever reminds me of the custom Winchesters made explicitly for John Wayne.
But who has time to ride a horse with reins in your teeth while spinning two Winchesters across a plain?
any firearm that isn’t part of your kit ought to have some wood on it, makes a gun much more beautiful.
It's the colour!
Id like to have one in 444 or 450 marlin
I have a good idea. How’s about just giving me both of those rifles. I won’t tell anyone.
❤❤❤
I would like some leather can you reach out to me with my 30-30 336
Quanto vale vale quanto ela já vem com porte de arma
I am waiting for the Stainless 336
Trapper is expensive af isn't it?
always buy pre 83 marlins
Ruger brought Marlin rifles Back and they are made better then the Remington made Malins and look better too
A cross-bolt safety, ... really??? Make mine a Henry!
Just turn it off safety and ignore it. 😂
You can reload waaaayyyy cheaper than that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Are you paid by Ruger? That would make sense
Scamdemic was our.problem
Miss liver me han modalis ah 278 miss carabinas
Oau 🤝👍
Hand load cuts the cost
they can, it depends on how valuable your time is
@masonleather very true. It is a relaxing hobby for me when the weather is such o can't go out. If you don't view it as a hobby, it is frustrating and time consuming.
Wincister..prelepe puske...❤
Not crazy about the cowboy lever handle, awkward to cycle. True 45-70 ammo is a little more, but you get a hell of a lot bigger case, bullet, and more powder for your money. Plus, both are big game guns, how much ammo are you actually shooting ? A couple of boxes a year at most, so for less than $50 a year, you get a hell of a lot more capability from the 45-70. 45-70 will kill anything in NA, a 30-30 is a mediocre short range deer or smaller rifle.
Bigfoot & Dogman killer 🤔
"mediocre short range deer or smaller"
It's not the early 1900's anymore. They updated .30-30 capabilities. You can now push a 190gr bullet at 2100 fps from a 20" barrel. Hardly mediocre. That same load dropped an Alaskan Moose in one shot.
I've also seen .30-30 punch through Level 3 AR500 armor plate at closer range.
❤❤❤❤❤❤🇮🇷🇮🇷
Both are beautiful rifles . When I bought my 1st box of 30/30 it cost approximately $6.99. But then again a Marlin 336 or Winchester model 94; cost right around ,$ 99.00 in 1980.
Most important difference is one is made by a company. The other one is made by a liberal company.
So is the 336 a Ruger or a Marlin? The wood looks like a low grade tree wood, bluing looks dull and cheap as with most todays modern blued firearms, and with all the safety features on today's firearms you know the dumbing down of America is in full swing.
The 336 was an original Marlin design. It was made in 33/30 and 35 Remington calibers. Ruger bought out Marlin and owns Marlin firearms. The name on the box is Marlin.
It is black walnut.
