This is also why they're playing dirty. They're desperate to get Trump back in to finish rigging the system so there are no checks and balances to stop them from completely taking over the government so there's never another democrat president ever again. The plan is either have it be obvious by Trump being president until he dies, or they're going to try to do it more subtlely by making it appear we still have elections, but votes won't actually matter. So the president will always be a maga person since votes won't matter, like how in Russia they have elections but it's a rouse.
They need to just end the Electoral College and go to individual vote so that everyone's vote counts as they wish instead of letting a few Electors determine the wins and loses.

This is a constitutional republic, not a democracy. Educate yourself on the beauty of how the electoral college works and why a popular vote does not work. The founding fathers knew exactly what they were doing. And this hasn’t always swayed in favor of Republicans. It gives everyone an equal voice. Otherwise only the most densely populated cities would determine the winner every single time.
I wish NO state was winner take all with Electoral College . Each district should have their Elector represent vote outcome. The 2 votes each state gets for their Senators could go with total state vote. This would be a compromise between EC and no EC (popular vote).
There shouldn't be any Electoral College. Period. One person with one unalienated vote. Those who are afraid of voters in New York and California need to grow a pair and learn accept democracy, not intend to have as much or equal say as the majority. It's actually a good argument that the minority won't be protected. But when you think about the majority being told what to do by the majority, then it becomes equally if not more troublesome.

Why not lump the votes of all the states together and eliminate the electoral college. That way, every vote is equal to every other vote and the US elects the candidate with the most votes. When I vote for the governor of my state, there are no county electors to monkey with the outcome. Every other election I know of in this country is by popular vote. Let's put an end to this nonsense!
You need to go back and take civics. Remember it is United States. Each state should have a somewhat of an equal representation. That is why congress representatives are based on population and senators are the same per state. It prevents mob rule. I don’t agree with changes at the last minute but I do agree with keeping the electoral college as is
Thats why we should expand the electoral college system to the state level. Every governor should have to win a majority of the counties instead of just a few urban areas. It would force them to actually listen to the needs of the entire state and not allow urban areas to dictate to everyone else.
@@greggfidler6129 There’s no rational reason to give each state equal representation in the electoral college. Each state has a different population and it is the people who assent to being governed. The power should come equally from all people but the electoral college undermines this fundamental principle. If you’re going to argue, skip the insults, I know civics. The supreme court has also been rigged. It's why they gave Trump the power to be a dictator if he gets back in office.
Trump desperately wanted a 2nd term to finish what they started.

There’s a reason why the constitution and government were designed this way. You just don’t like it because you don’t want Trump in office. How about we switch to whichever candidate wins the most states?

This is a constitutional republic, not a democracy. Educate yourself on the beauty of how the electoral college works and why a popular vote does not work. The founding fathers knew exactly what they were doing. And this hasn’t always swayed in favor of Republicans. It gives everyone an equal voice. Otherwise only the most densely populated cities would determine the winner every single time.
If Nebraska changes its procedure on electoral votes then Maine should as well.

Do this in every state. Why should blue states get electoral votes for red districts?
If every state was like Nebraska and Maine, Democrats would win handily. Empty land doesn't have many electoral votes!
You misspelled "path to failure".
Because . . .
The large coastal cities would decide the elections.
Try to argue why the electoral college gives greater emphasis to land area than people when it’s people not land that are assenting to being governed.
@@donalexander6674 you state is not a construct of counties. It is also following the rules that were established. Here is an anology, if population was dollars and the states were people than those with more dollars could control. If you have five people and one has more money then that one person would control things. The electoral is a way of counter balancing heavenly populated areas from controlling things. What you are saying is similar to having people with more money get more votes. So by your logic you are fine with the states that voted for defining marriage as only between a man and a woman and the states that voted for a total ban on abortion.
