- So we had Ian from Forgotten weapons visiting us in Canada so we pulled out some AKs and an RPK to have some fun.

I weigh 5 pounds and can slap an m91/30 around no problem, rifle is fine.
beanhead159 I went a gun range in Vegas a few months back and had 5 rounds through a Mosin. After fumbling around with it after two rounds the range officer smiled and said "ya gotta slap the crap outta it!". After that I had no problems operating the garbage rod.
let me explain this, if you CLEAN the Mosin properly you can operate the bolt with literally one finger. I own about eight variants of them spanning about 20 odd years of production and not a single one of them is "sticky" after total disassembly, proper cleaning and reassembly. If you can't work your bolt, or have to slap your rifle under 25+ rounds of fast firing then you need to clean the poor thing, actually take it fully a part, put it in mineral spirits or a sonic cleaner scrub it off re lucubrate it and then give it a try.
Dies1r4e the one I shot looked like it hadn't been maintained since May 1945.
It's from cosmoline in the chamber. The bolt head will stick with heat and since the Mosin has a two piece bolt...ugh...it is harder to force the bolt than on something solid like a Mauser.

The Mosin was a nice touch...Nothing like a bit of mag wobble--noticeable in the slo-mo.
