Also I’ve never met a dry Lambrusco I didn’t like. I even had a white one once that was amazing. You are so right, Lambrusco with pizza is epic!
It is a masterful pairing
@@drmatthewhorkey I enjoy with old school antipasto salad (incl oranges) too
Something like 30 years ago, we were driving the backroads from Bologna to Florence. We stopped at some tiny trattoria/locanda for lunch. Incredibly they had never met Americans before! I asked the owner what wine he recommended. He suggested a local Lambrusco. It was one of the most delicious, fun wines I've ever had in my life!!! It was a hot summer day and the wine was so refreshing. I'll never pooh-pooh Lambrusco again.
Yesssahhh
Was at “ the Alt Wine Festival “ today, in the Waaalamette valley, put it on your radar for next year. Lots of pet nats, and oranges wines. Basically no Pinot Noir. Love your videos
Ohhh wow! Hope you are doing well btw
Talking summer drinks you should do a comparison of blanc de noir, blanc de blanc, and general cuvee to see if you can tell the difference between the three. Maybe 1 of each style from Champagne and 1 of each from Cava to see if Cava is better value?
Stay tuned! There are blind tasting videos on the channel of Champagne vs other sparklers blind
Thank you for your recommendations!
Thank you for watching!
With an N of 1 I can safely say that sparkling Gewürztraminer is great! And matching your snobbyness I like to drink sparkling wines from my Zalto white wine glass, even though I do have the Zalto Champagne glasses as well at home.
Ohhh good call! Esp if you have the Champagne glasses
It is definitely summer, so certainly whites, roses and sparkling wines season.
I think that pet-nats are pretty cool, but sometimes their funkiness and yeasty notes may not appeal to your average wine consumer. For myself I am always up to try something new, even if I am disappointed. As I have been sometimes by sparking wines that used non-typical varietals for making sparkling wine; chalk it up to experience and going outside my comfort zone.
Lambrusco Secco is amazing, but it isn't so easy to find, unfortunately they are rather rare in a lot of markets. I don't know why, as it is so fun and refreshing. Great video, cheers!
I know! Lambrusco can be so fun and delicious.
Never tried a pet nat, but after this definitely on my to try list. Love your shirt! Where can I get one??
They are from Bodegas Borsao
I haven't had a Pet Nat yet but I've bought one from the Terravox winery out of Kansas City MO made from the Norton grape. So it's a red grape made into a Pet Nat. I will be trying it at some point soon and it's my first one so it should be interesting to try!
Ohhh a Norton Pet Nat! Very good stuff
@@drmatthewhorkey I'm drinking it right now it's not bad at all! A bit funky and fruity interesting.
I just had that exact Col Fondo recently, and it was my first! I really liked it, more complex than the average Prosecco, but not as funky as I had expected after everything I had read about them.
Have you had any Pet Nats from Croatia? We just had the Pomalo Debit Rosé Methode Ancestrale, very much like a sour beer, a big hit at wine night for us!
Yes many! Glad you liked it. There is some cool stuff happening over there
Every now and then I enjoy sparkling made of muskateller(muscat). The Producer I Trier were tement and harkamp.
Yes very good producers!
Lambrusco is underrated and unfortunately, when I mention it to non-wine geek friends, they immediately comment how they dislike them, too sweet. Missing out. As you say, great pizza wine!
Sooooo good with pizza
Grier rose Brut can be a bit funky too. Bugey Cerdon is killer too
Bugey Cerdon!!!
Just for fun try this pronunciation of the word pétillant in French: PAY-TSEE-YAN . The end is not pronounced Yann like the first name, but Yan more like Yah (not really pronouncing the final N) . Hope I was clear haha
😬🙏🙏
Too cool for school?😂
