You can see how scared she is and yet she's still trying to protect her babies.

Yes she is a slave to her instincts and people are just anthropomorphizing instead of recognizing it for what it is: a biological machine who has no will of its own. But you are wrong in that her existence is meaningless and absurd (and especially wrong your attempt to imply we as humans are in the same boat). She serves a wonderful purpose in the grand scope of creation

1. animals can feel basic feelings and have a will of their own WHILE also following their instincts.
instincts basically guide a situation but they don't control it
(mom might run to protect her young or she might try to fight of the threat or she will leave behind the weaker one to offer better chances for the others in other words she wants to protect her young but she CHOOSES how)
2. i do agree however that the pig in the video doesn't particularly appear terrified, just cautious or alert.(doesn't mean they can't be scared obviously)
however It's a farm animal that should not be roaming so carelessly.
It should be recaptured or killed cuz rouge pigs can harm people, pets, wild animals and plants and basically destroy ecosystem or cause road accidents.
3.(unrelated just ranting) she's cute and bravely protecting her piglets, but this is not a wild animal and it needs human assistance and this is just a sad situation of a runaway or abandoned animal.
mom literally suffocated one of her piglets with her hip and the others don't quite look well either. :(

Yes they *could* as it isn't logically contradictory but they don't because they don't have the ability to choose. We can know this for three reasons. First because when we observe an individual animal it acts the same when put in the same situation. Second, because the ability to choose is a product of being able to reason. Reasoning is the act of delineation and choosing. Anything that is unable to reason to solutions and therefore to advance in ability is not able to choose and does not have a will. Finally, animals are obviously morally neutral. They cannot be evil or good and this is precisely because we know they have no will of their own and deserve no judgment either way for something they did not choose or control. When an animal rapes its counterpart there is nothing evil about this. When the lion eats the antelope they don't deserve prison for murder. That's because they aren't people and don't have a will.

well you see doctor the first bird had REASON to assume im a big threat maybe because he's not usually approached by people and FEELS threatened therefore viewing you as potentially dangerous. (so he assessed the situation based on experience and feeling and acted different)
in other words
1. animals don't have a brain for nothing and even tho it's not adult human level a baby can be upset and so can a dog
2. if we're somehow above animals why can you simply manipulate someone's intelligens or feelings with the right drug?
oh that's right cuz we are also made from flesh and work with brains, hormones and memories that make us feel feelings making us as predictable as an animal
