      its simple, punishments and penalties need to start ramping up, like if someone just drives into traffic and causes a crash they should be facing dangerous driving _and_ violent assault charges. If a person runs around swinging their arms hitting people they wont just get disturbing the peace, they'd get assault and battery. Why is it less if its soemone doing the same thing, but on the roads in a vehicle? When people doing these insanely dangerous stuff and causing incidents start landing 6 month sentences maybe they will slow down and give the braincell a chance to duplicate a couple more times

      The road rule of stopping to give way to tram passengers has been in effect for as long as trams have existed on Melbourne roads. There's bloody big STOP signs that swing into view when the doors open. I'm guessing the driver is simply not familiar with driving in Melbourne.

    • @Burbsi
      @Burbsi Рік тому +2

      But that's a bad design when you give people the opportunity to exit the tram on a road. If you put the tram one lane to the left and make it an official stop with those covered "sheds" people can wait in cover of rain and even the craziest drivers can't overtake on the sidewalk because of said shed or tram stop or whatever the correct word for it is.
      Or else you could leave the tram lane but make a slightly elevated island in between the car lanes, where it is safe for people to exit public transportation.
      Of Course, in general drivers should be aware enough to stop and passengers should look before exiting, but in reality everyone is busy with their own daily issues and easily forget about simple tasks like this. That's where better planned designs pay off.

      Yeah, in situations like that, the driver in the car established on the road is the one who has visibility of the situation. They have the right of way, but the rational and courteous action would be to stop for the driver who has limited to zero visibility of the situation. @michaelscarport It's a fair point, but there's a road I travel daily that makes that very difficult for the residents there.
      It's an A-road route, and they'd essentially have to break the law by reversing in a main road.
      Doing so would not only be illegal, but it would also severely disrupt traffic and could potentially cause an accident.
      I'm actually pretty convinced that it negatively impacts the house prices there.
      That said, if I lived there I'd probably widen my driveway right up to the boundary lines, just so I could pull onto the pavement and reverse in without swinging the front of my car into fast moving traffic.

Found out later it was a stolen car and the driver and passenger were trying to make their getaway but lost control. The driver had got out and ran but the poor passenger didn't make it. Sent a cold chill down my spine that day and was a very unsettling feeling the rest of the ride.

The bus will still drop off people in the pavement, not into a traffic lane. Trams are literally on rails and (should) have fixed stops at known locations. If you want to go to all the time and effort (that's a BIG "if", it'll be easier just to pay the fine) and do the research, it IS possible to attend court as a living man (or woman), beneficiary of the (your_name trust account), and state "consent to contract is DENIED". (I've seen this done, successfully, with the phrase "I do not consent to contract or joinder, and waive the benefits on offer"). Do NOT, for a moment, think you can 'get away with anything' (if there is a VICTIM, you WILL be prosecuted under the applicable civil or criminal laws - probably with malice), but for victimless fines issued by corporate police departments on behalf of corporate governments contested in corporate courtrooms - there IS a way to decline to contract with them. "Lawyers" will never (NEVER) tell you how to do this (they make a living by keeping you IN the corporate system), they would be disbarred for breaching their own BAR rules. It CAN be done (if you know your stuff, stick to your guns, and don't fall for tricks or threats).

      About 2 months ago I had a green light but a red arrow that I just didn't see due to the rising sun behind it. I'm still kicking myself for it and so glad it was early enough that no other cars were around to hit. As for your speeding fine, don't feel too bad, there are soo many cameras that it must be like shooting fish in a barrel for our lazy policing policies. These crazy videos exist because no one is caught by mobile patrols anymore.

      I think many Australians born after 1979 have some kind of mental defect.... most would not have been out of place in pre WW2 Germany.... You seem to delight in getting other people into trouble with the authorities... which is called Schadenfreude. That is a major character flaw...... especially in somebody who identifies as an Australian.
