The Ford V8 carried thru' '53, main problem back then was poor OIL, I'm 91,have driven them since '48, hundreds of thousands of miles, best ignition system ever, never overheated, very cheap to own, you could fix it yourself. This article is a disgrace.
To refer to these cars as "disgusting" is grossly unfair. They were a product of the American automotive technology of the time constrained by the economics of the Great Depression. These cars of course had compromises but many are still considered things of beauty today. Btw, the statement "Which only the poor could afford" doesn't make sense.
The motor oil back then was nothing like motor oil today. A certain amount of wear was expected. Of course, they required more maintenance than today's cars. But they were simple, easy to work on. Also, most of the speeds and distances driven were lower and no superhighways back then. Long distance travel was mostly by passenger train. For the time, the cars did rather well. At least it was better than the previous horse and buggy. The only thing "disgusting" is this article.
Sounds like all of the cars had common issues with little variation. Same comments over and over just change the order. 1930s… not 2024 and yet the cars of today have a lot of problems.
The 1935 LaSalle had a straight eight engine from Oldsmobile, not a V8 engine. The engine compartment is too narrow to house a V8 engine. Your fettish for unreliability due to carburetors in ALL cars is fake. ALL of these carburetors were third-party items, not unique to the manufacturer.
Do these people have any idea what they are talking about? The first Ford V8 85 had as an option the Model B four cylinder. Later Ford offered the much smaller V8 60 for fuel economy. They continued building the standard 85 HP and later 100 HP cars. They were quite fast.
I owned a 1950 F1 with a Flathead V8 from 1972 to 2005 as a daily driver. The engine ran fine with just normal maintenance. Most problems were from modern fuel eating up the gaskets in the carburetor and fuel pump. But the engine ran fine. I miss it today and should have never sold it. 😑
You put a picture of Jay Leno sitting on some expensive car and then go into a rant against inexpensive cars. All cars were less dependable and wore out faster than cars today. Your articles are just more clickbait.
Regarding overheating: in the “olden days “ ( I’m 82 ) we would solve the problem by removing those thermostats, throwing them away, back flushing the radiator, putting in a clean supply of H20 and be on our way! Problem solved!
All those vehicles required "extended maintenance". Skimp on maintenance and owners have problems. Not the vehicles fault. How much rough running was caused by poor quality fuel?
Once again you show lots of cars that have been hot rodded and nothing like what the cars has when made! You failed to mention that none of these cars had a pressurized cooling system. Which meant that running temperature of 180 degrees F and over heating was 200-212! So stuck in non moving traffic on a very hot day all cars would over heat!
I'm 87. I've owned Ford v8 and Lincoln Zephyr cars. The overheating was caused by routing the exhaust through the block. You folks need to hire someone who knows something about cars, Disgusting? This sorry video is disgusting.
Jajaja Para decir que tal o cual cosa es mala deben pasar al menos 20años Ya van mas de 80 años y todavia en mi pais hay autos de estos funcionando Asi que tan malos no eran
What’s with the poor business? Poor it’s the people who put UA-cam together. They’re mentally ill. Their agenda is always on their mind but has nothing to do with the public. We make the judgement of what you put on the Internet not you.
JAY LENO WAS ON RUNNING BOARD OF A J DUESY ,, AND MANY OF THE PICS WHERE OF CARS WITH ENGINES NOT OF ORIGINAL CARS ,,LIKE MODERN V-8 'S REPLACING THE 6 & 8CYL MOTORS DELIVERED IN THEM ,, AND SAME PROBLEMS LISTED WITH MOST MODELS , LIKE OVERHEATING N TIMING ,,COME ON MAN DO YOUR HOME-WORK
The trouble with fords was that they were fast but Henry refused to pay for decent brakes. My father had so many friends killed by Fords that he despised them for most of his life. Ironically his last auto was Ford Taurus.
I don't know what world this guy is from but the Flathead Ford was a very dependable motor they did sometimes overheat I wouldn't be afraid to drive one all the way around the world they were very dependable
Every one of those cars are absolutely beautiful ! To call them disgusting is nothing short of a lie . Even with engine problems , which I doubt were as drastic as portrayed in this video , They most certainly were not disgusting , If they are , then I have disgusting taste in cars , and gladly accept that opinion . What truly is disgusting , is the AI narrative . I would accept any one of those "disgusting" cars with disgusting , elated , hysterical glee !!!!

I can't believe this guy claims the flathead v8 was unreliable. Who believes this crap?

One of the most repetitive commentaries I have ever heard! Too much click bait!

The "poor" bought second-hand cars!

I agree; the 1935 Ford V-8 was completely reliable. My dad had no problems with it.😊
Only the poor could afford??? Are you talking about today's cars? That wouldn't make sense, even today.
The poor man’s cars are now the rich man’s investments 😂😂.
I'm 70.
Still able to knucklebust from bumper to bumper.
Only issues is leaning over the quarter panel.😅
Wear the hell did this guy get this crap from 😂 I didn't see one 48 there.

your looking at the evolution of engines here and pouting cause they dont match todays engines
The cooling system had no cooling system water pump. I carried rubber Gumboots. These could be filled with water to refill the boiling water.
Love the opening of the video claiming 10 of the worst then shows pictures of Packards, et al... Two minutes in and I'm done.
Ford V8 were good enough for Bony & Clyde!
This fellas just make his story up as he.goes. !!!
Jajaja Para decir que tal o cual cosa es mala deben pasar al menos 20años Ya van mas de 80 años y todavia en mi pais hay autos de estos funcionando Asi que tan malos no eran

Your AI voice could not pronounce a few words, please check.
I owned a great 1935 Series 40 Buick. He spoke of its problems while showing a later model. Not a great car video.
Bullshit rebuilt several of them with my dad didnt have one of those problems
Now the AI voice speaks German when it hit the first Oldsmobile section.
This guy is nothing but gloom and doom
Hard to listen to.
What a load of crap 😴
Must of the cars shown are hot rods - no relation to the original cars- you are the only person with the problem
The trouble with fords was that they were fast but Henry refused to pay for decent brakes. My father had so many friends killed by Fords that he despised them for most of his life. Ironically his last auto was Ford Taurus.
My mother's husband swore by Ford.
Laughingly HIS last car was a Chevy.
good night bro 😴😴
I don't know what world this guy is from but the Flathead Ford was a very dependable motor they did sometimes overheat I wouldn't be afraid to drive one all the way around the world they were very dependable
I was shown by an old flathead racer to put a penny in the small water inlet where the hoses connect to the block.
Why Is This Opinionated Rubbish Even On The Inter -web ??
any car buyer who did not anticipate problems with their cars were either foolhardy or had a chauffeur!
At least show the original cars...not hot rods.
There’s Plenty Of Hot Rods In There !
1936 v8 ford ,what a great car that was
This disgusting title triggered how many comments ?
Play that algorithm baby !
by1935,Piece Arrow offered a trailer as an option, and would evolve into Pace Arrow...
1936 ford ,good car for his time
