tbf she backflipped using her less damaged arm.
There is absolutely no consistency or adherence to logic in index/railgun fights.
At the very least, she reacts in pain when she put her body on it, but no, as thin as she is, and placement of the shots, yeah, she shouldn't be able to backflip onto them like that.
Her right arm was a graze, but the second she switched to her other arm, yeah no...

@@tramethozeine Yeah, but put pressure on an arm with a hole in it. If you've been stabbed before, you'd know the sort of pain there would be from just simply moving. Now imagine putting your full body weight on it, even for just a moment. If this wasn't an anime, Freda's arm would have simply collapsed the second she put pressure on it. Granted she's very thin as well, so a shot in the arm is tearing off a lot of muscle.
But hey, it's an anime.

animegeek96 Essentially every science-side fight has the same logic and depth in Index also, the problem is the anime adaption cuts corners. Even magic-side fights are logical, but it is even worse off then Esper fights in the Index anime because the anime adaption did such a poor job explaining how magic works.

She wanted to breathe through mouth to take more oxygen in order to maximize her advantage. Anyone would've done that. The other girl just took advantage cuz she think ahead of her opponent.
Tonkotsu Broth which is why she should have been two steps ahead and breath through her nose. Frenda obviously had something up her sleeve when she used those bombs in a room with a frickin window for a wall. The glass was obviously gonna break and create a hole for oxygen to seep in. Basically it was a distraction meant to lure her closer to the window where Frenda would have the upper hand. She got cocky and paid the price.

This scene alone has more movement, better direction and fight choreography than the entirety of Index III.
I KNOW man!! I hope someday they re-master the season and give it the proper love it deserved. You can tell they love railgun a million times more than index. I suppose it sells more or something.
@@TrollOmnipotence I'm by no means an expert, but from what I''ve seen there are 2 big reasons, Railgun has a better director, Tatsuyuki Nagai straight up has more talent than Hiroshi Nishikiori, even if he had a lower budget, he manages the adaptation side and distribution of material better, Sisters Arc is the perfect subject, even the scenes that are supposed to be 1 to 1 have more "umph" in Railgun. And that has nothing to do with technology or money.
And well, Index was rushed and filled with way too much content, Season 1 and 2 were absolutely acceptable despite the sacrifices, but with 3 they went overboard, even at the studio's best conditions it would have been a trainwreck, but to make it worse JC Staff was overworked at the moment with too many projects, but the production comitee wanted it done, and they wanted all remaining 9 volumes of OT done at 26 episodes max, no more than that. Season 1 covered only 6 volumes. There's many people to blame, I wouldn't put in on just one person.
Thats because the kadokawa cares less about index. They made it really obvious in railgun S. Athe quality and art direction for index 3 made me super dissapointed as a light novel reader. I dont expect New Testament to get this treatment ever.
@@fenix_tx_1342 Anime budgets don't really vary much across the board. It all comes down to scheduling and staff/talent. Two things which a good director and producer can influence greatly. One punch man had a standard budget but is remembered as having some of the best production values of the past decade. This was because of good time management and talented, ambitious staff.
Wasn't much of Railgun animation outsourced to China? JC Staff probably doesn't pay them much but the quality of their work is very high. This was also part of the reason for the delays in the airing dates. Just what I've heard, could be wrong.

It's hilarious how Frenda overkilled Rakko out of pure spite. Not only does she kick her to her death, but she also blows her head off while blowing up her body with dolls.

@@blackricw6495 The mini-bombs had minimal shrapnel and a relatively weak blast wave, plus her mouth was open wide open, so a fair portion of the blast wave would have gone out of her mouth, even if the force still blew her jaw off. That, coupled with the natural durability of characters in this series, means the chances of survivability are not impossible. Although I would still question how she managed to survive that fall since she probably wasn't conscious, and she probably would have died from shock and blood loss. Also her throat and lungs would have probably been seared from the heat...

This fight was amazing, Frenda with her CQC and her strategy with her bombs is genius especially when she's been shot multiple times and lost blood.

Noah Oh the fact that she could compete with Misaka at all in a building made completely of metal is pretty insane to say the least. She definitely made the right preparations.

that was the point, Railgun 1 was supposed to be a "false" slice of life, showing how Academy City is on the outside. Railgun S and T overturns that completely, and having Railgun 1 as the reference point, this table turning had that much of a bigger impact :)

She was falling so it was probably impossible to pinpoint just the bombs, he at least protected most of her body and her brain, and there's a doctor in the city who can pretty much fix anybody up as long as they're not fully dead lol

This is so freakin Savage. In shows where the character assumes the person they're fighting dies by something they could have possibly survived from versus here where Frenda goes out of her her way to double down on her overkill I think I prefer the latter. She did not need to do anything more than kick her off but she goes all in like a fanatical demon. Frenda may not have killed her but she is well with in her right to believe she did. She tries to win Absolutely and I love it.

To be fair....
She WAS selling Mugino out and betraying her. Mugino was quite understandably upset. While, I do think killing Frenda may have been a bit much, harsh punishment was going to happen. Frenda had looked up to and admired Mugino much the same way Kuroko does to our fave Biri-Biri. Mugino also had minor affection for her, onyl to be betrayed. That is one thing above all else Mugino can't stand is backstabbers a traitors. IIRC that was mentioned when we first met her in Railgun 1(?), it was why she had a particular scientist killed despite him being an employer.

@@Angel-xg7vy In fact Rakko and Frenda died in Index. Railgun and Index are connected because they take place in the same universe and at the same time, but we see different perspectives. Detail is that every day in Academy City something is happening, so every day someone dies. As 80% of the inhabitants of Academia City are students, you can say that children die every day, but we don't see much because there's no way to really portray all the deaths that occur everywhere in the city, right? In Railgun specifically we were shown the death of Dopperganger at least.

Looked pretty much like the fight between two girls 3-4 years ago when one said she kissed her boyfriend - when I was out walking with the dog .
Rakko made two big mistakes. The first was to gloat before finishing her opponent. The second was going for the obvious bait instead of sniping open more windows.

This anime has a tricky watch order, it's actually a side show to another show called A Certain Magical Index which takes place the same time as this show with characters from both shows appearing frequently in the other show. You can google the correct watch order and view it like that, or you can just view it in broadcast order.

No she says " ha en god en" which means have a good one in english. And i am pretty sure she says good bye in norwegian but swedish and norwegian is similar so.

One of the best fights in the tu aru series.
In the spin-off "Astral buddy" with Hokaze, we can see Rakko's sister who can literally wield a light saber, while lil Rakko was sad she has no power (actually her level was like 1), good to see she found her way to recompensate the lack of esper abilities

If anyone is wondering, "Ha det bra" is typically an informal and friendly way to say goodbye in Swedish. Think like, "See ya bro". Literally translates to "Have it good".

This was the same team who animated one punch man season 2 they just didn't have much time, about 3-5 months while most anime get at least a year so I would say I'm impressed with how OPM S2 looked, one punch man season 2 was also the reason Index 3 looked bad because they were supposed to animate index 3 but OPM 2 needed to be made super quick

This makes me even more mad about Frenda's death in Index III. They barely acknowledged her existence and killed her in the most rushed and forced way possible. Why did they decide to develop her character NOW?!

Why I like scientific railgun more it's because there's actually good fights in it. Not just a dude who'd automatically win if he uses his right hand

Very late but Index's fights are also very good. On the magical side, each spell works differently depending on the tale, myth or religion the wizard based it on, so a simple fireball spell for example will never be the same. In short, it is up to the magician himself to discover which tale, myth or religion the enemy's spell is based on in order to counterattack. In other words, it requires knowledge and strategy. The magic system is so detailed that even the location influences a fight. Things like the temperature of the environment and the positioning of the sun and stars can determine whether a simple fireball spell will be weak or strong when it is cast. And some wizards become stronger by fighting in places pertaining to the myth, religion that all their magic was based on.
For Touma's part, I would say that Imagine Breaker is very well placed within a fight. All Imagine Breaker does is bring Touma's opponents down to their own level, if Touma's opponents are superior in terms of physique and experience, they can already defeat Touma. This is why Touma is the character with the most defeats in the franchise. And so, Touma's fights are very unpredictable, you don't know what trick Touma will use to win. Let's not talk about when Touma defeated a dragon using liquid nitrogen from a laboratory, when he beat a criminal using a metal bar, threatened a girl with a drill, lured an opponent so that he would be run over by a train, threw blood in his eyes of the enemy to blind him, used hot coffee to neutralize a weapon, or when he acted like a psychopath to neutralize the enemy's magic, etc. This is called Battle IQ, Touma uses anything in the fight scenario to his advantage.
Unfortunately, the anime cuts most of Touma's feats, there is one in the first fight against Accelerator that is brilliant. Touma using Accelerator's own power to his advantage to escape a death situation.
