    As a Londoner, I feel like we really take our great city for granted. There’s so many amazing places to see and things to do in London - this was a brilliant video highlighting some of these things!

    Jess, We used the info from several of your videos which made our recent trip SO much richer. 2 comments: TootBus disappointed because the bus was old, noisy, audio didn't work well, so we bailed and enjoyed a great 5 --mile walk from Trafalgar along the Thames back up to Tower Hill. TootBus left us wanting again because we couldn't locate their stopping point and frankly, several of the competitors came and went without a TootBus in the mix (ergo, longer wait between rides). We enjoyed a GREAT pub meal at the Swan at Holborn ... super food, welcoming staff, and a LOT of history hung on its walls. Stayed at the Thistle Holborn next door, serviceable, comfy, clean and served a wonderful breakfast buffet which carried us through to dinner. Cannot thank you enough for all of the good advice about the Tube, caught surface trains in from the airport, to/from Windsor Castle and Greenwich Museum and observatory complex. Best laugh of the trip came on return train into London when kind attendant explained that we were on the wrong train. I asked how it happened, since the platform sign listed our destination and the logo on our tickets matched the one on the front of the train. Kind attendant explained that yes, that was all true, but the tickets weren't for that train. I asked how we could have told the difference as the train arrived ... her reply was "by the length of the train". The geek in me wanted to ask how one sees a train's length when it's coming straight at you ... but kind attendant fixed it all by saying "don't worry, we won't pitch you off!" Loved it!

      Ah yes we generally don't recommend those hop on hop off buses, they're sooooooo touristy and not our vibe. Glad you found our other tips helpful and you enjoyed your trip!! ❤️❤️❤️

    Learning lots even though as a kid (12 years) in the 70s , I used to wander around central London whilst my dad attended meetings. London has improved immeasurably since then, as it was pretty grim and restaurants often shut by 10pm!!. Charing cross used to be excellent for books, and I assume Foyles (massive book shop) is still going

    It must be really hard to make these videos, because even for Londoners (like me) there is so much its overwhelming. Really good choices in this video, for anyone visiting London this video is so useful for you.

  • @bjoernaltmann
    @bjoernaltmann 2 роки тому +5

    The little half timbered hut behind you in the opening shot also featured in the film 84 Charing Cross Road with Anthony Hopkins. The story is about a woman from New York who had been unable to find certain book titles and then contacts this bookseller in London. The building that housed the bookshop still exists today (now a McDonald’s) and the apartment house in New York at 305 East 72nd Street has been renamed “Charing Cross House”.

    Also could you do a fabric shop and clothes making shop guide to London as well?
    Yours faithfully.
    Pure.

      Hi there, thanks for your comment. I don't recommend a lot of those places for shopping as many of them are filled with fast fashion which is ruining the planet and exploit their workers. We have amazing vintage shopping here, this video is a good start: ua-cam.com/video/H-cXkJq4ogg/v-deo.html&t

    Hi. I’m traveling to Southampton in 2 months. Does the public transportation (tube, bus) stop running at a certain time? We are traveling from Southampton to South London.

    Hello. Thank you so much for these great videos. I have a 7+ hour layover on my way to Rome this Friday. I’d like to hire a driver to get me to Windsor for a couple of hours. We can easily make it back with 3 hours to spare. Should I chance it? What kinds of issues might I expect as an American leaving, then reentering the airport?

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  2 роки тому +1

      I probably wouldn't chance it, no. You won't see much of Windsor anyways!

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  2 роки тому +1

      Plus by the time you get bags, get car, drive, and then need to be back with 2+ hours for check in, you basically have no time at all.

    "you'll never struggle to find a place to drink in central london" ahaha you are right, i will never struggle to find the PLACE, but will it have any tables available? if you want to go drinking on the weekend anywhere near Soho, do yourself a favour and book in advance because its going to be packed

    Hi L&L!! Do. you have any advice for people that are planning to move to London for 6 months from America on a tourist visa?
    Like where to find cheap flats close to the tube etc.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  Рік тому

      You won't have the right to legally rent a flat so your best bet is to do some subleases off SpareRoom.com or check out this article that has our reccs for longer stays: loveandlondon.com/best-hotels-in-london-for-long-stays/

    Will The Mousetrap be running before Christmas time like on 23rd or 24th of December ? If yes, where can we buy tickets for that ? It will be a huge help if you could answer this since I am a huge Agatha Christie's fan ❤

    Went to central London for 1 week, as a sole traveler it was fine but encountered several racism experiences. As Asian I would avoid coming to London or come with a group.

      Sorry to hear that Richard, generally London is very accepting but it sounds like you had a really bad run :( Sorry that that happened to you.

    Hi Jess, im new to your channel but I enjoy it so much! Great job, thanks :)
    Also, im coming to London in June for a couple of days - do you have any recommendations regarding vintage/antique/flea markets happening on Fridays? Im looking for a unique piece of jewelry, a brooch or earrings, but I also dont want to pay millions of pounds for it :)) I know, its quite specific but maybe you have seen it somewhere. Much appreciated :)

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Not sure about Fridays but I share a market in this video that happens on weekends where there's a woman that sells brooches: ua-cam.com/video/F3s85Gz7gtk/v-deo.html Golborne Road might be a good option for you too, which I feature in my West London video guide coming out soon. There's also more info on it in my West London Casual Tourist Guide: shop.loveandlondon.com/products/casual-tourist-guide-to-west-london Portobello Road has stuff too but a lot of the stuff is overpriced or crap in general so I don't tend to recommend there.
