You know, it's really great to see someone of your talent playing these so-called "lesser pieces" which aren't rated as highly as the Piano Collections simply on a difficulty level. But the pieces you play sound truly magical, it's great to listen to different tunes being played so well - and once again a simple yet beautiful end to the piece. Great job on adding the melody into the right hand too and getting it to sound so smooth - it's not easy!
FF8 is one of my top 10 fave games ever for a reason! That soundtrack! Probably the best I've heard in a game. Not only that, but FF8 did so many NEW things with gameplay, narrative, and presentation that its hard to look back and see why it was controversial yet it was so innovative. It was a layered narrative about a son & father, contrasting their lives as they get to grips with their respective relationships while growing as soldiers. Music was an essential element in this masterpiece =)
I always wanted to walk down the aisle to this song, now I don’t know whether to use the piano or the original! This is beautiful though I have tears in my eyes. Well done
I always love it when I see people use VGM in a wedding setting. Some of my earlier experiences playing VGM during 2008/2009 when I discovered UA-cam was playing chamber music arrangements by arrangers who had these arrangements played during their own weddings. Makes me feel nostalgic. And of course FF8 is a very obvious choice of a soundtrack to use the music for weddings, for obvious reasons. Wish you the best for your wedding and that you can have a great experience with it.
I'm impressed by your talent, I like how one of my favourite ff8 themes is played so well. The song is so relaxing that makes you feel like lying down. I've always liked the piano, never had the opportunity to play it though. Again, great job! I'll keep listening to this song until I fall asleep.
@GooseberryMk3 thank you for that comment, i appreciate it a lot. and i agree, it's sad that these pieces are often regarded "lesser pieces". these soundtracks have so many gems.
Absolutely beautiful. The in-game version by Uematsu is okay, but is hindered by the limitations of the time. This pure piano version is breathtaking, thank you so much for uploading it! Working on replacing the in game music with this right now!
Simple piece, but difficult to bring out the right elements. It's relaxed, calm and the melody rings out over the chords. Since you're playing the chords and melody with the same hand, I'm surprised how clear the melody rings out. Good job!
@Arrow9100kj thanks man, and yeah the wine color was indeed a nice touch, i didn't even notice it until i actually edited the video. it seems that the color correction of my camera is doing a good job. perhaps the automatic setting feature even detects song titles and adjusts the color temperature :)
@DiscoInTheNunnery damn, thanks that you reminded me, i completely forgot to put the zombie-junction off my hands :( i'll replace it with full-life for the next video :)
@drunyon214 yeah it also plays in the hotel room scene with laguna and julia. i always thought that this is a nice contrast because the hotel room scene is a depiction of fear while the space scene is one of courage. how the piece is used in between these two scenes is very special.
Everytime I see your name in my sub box I get incredibly overjoyed! Im so glad that you're posting videos more often now. Im unfamiliar with the original melody but Im a fan of this video for musical and artistic reasons. I find it intriguing that this video has a coincidental wine-coloured hue to it! It really resonates with the title.
@Snakethoot hahaha best comment :) and you know, the funny thing is, the video that i am trying to record now, that one is literally giving me leg cramps.
Ahh, yesss! Awesome, Verdegrand.. you're picking so many of the incredible, less recognized pieces from the FF8 soundtrack. FF8 was my favorite soundtrack by Uematsu, so I really appreciate this :) Sounds AMAZING; keep it up :)
@unusualcatperson hi, thanks. and yeah you are right, the sound is a bit muffled, probably because i recorded this at way too high volume levels. there even was some distortion that i had to fix. gotte be more careful with mic settings.
@kingofthesharks yep i gotta agree with you on everything. especially that perspective/generation/father-and-son thing. come to think of it, some of these games have a deeper story than many books i have read, and the way they are told is truly modern and it's a shame these stories don't get recognized more. and yes the soundtrack for this definitely stands out, it's also one of my favs.
cool, thank you for commenting on this. it's been a while since i made this and overall not too many people seem to like it, so it's great to get a comment on it. love this piece in the original soundtrack! cheers!
@@Verdegrand I searched specifically for a piano cover of Roses and Wine, but actually I wasn’t expecting one to sound this good! Thanks for sharing it. Yesterday I finished learning the notes for Julia and today I started learning this piece, but Asako Niwa’s arrangement. I think your arrangement sounds better though since it uses chords throughout.
@@shugyosha7924 hey, thank you again. sounds great, have fun learning that arrangement! i unfortunately don't have any sheets for my version, and it's been a long time since i played it. i'm not acquainted with the arrangement you're learning, but i think maybe it's the arrangement from the official piano book by squaresoft? it's so cool other people are learning this piece, because it seems to me like a lot of times people prefer the big tracks from an OST over these rather obscure pieces. i personally really like those smaller tracks though, it's where a lot of FF8's emotions are.
@@Verdegrand Yeah that's right! Asako Niwa did the official piano arrangements for a lot of the FF games. I love them because they're not overly embellished like I feel like a lot of arrangements are (Piano Collections included). They sound very close to the original pieces. Yeah, it's true people tend to stick to the "big" tracks. But Roses and Wine for example really shouldn't be considered an obscure or minor track in my opinion - it's a really important track for the story. It's the love theme shared by Laguna and Julia and Squall and Rinoa. As a consequence it's played in some of the most meaningful and memorable scenes, like Squall and Rinoa aboard the Ragnarok, and Laguna in Julia's hotel room. Although people might not search for it, I think anyone who enjoyed FFVIII will recognise Roses and Wine the instant they hear it. To me it feels quintessentially FFVIII.
@@shugyosha7924 you've got a good point! yeah i suppose i just had that association because i've rarely heard fan arrangements of this track. man, the ragnarok scene is so good, you brought back some nice memories! love that part of the game.
@8Amaterasu8 thanks, yeah the lighting makes for an amazing effect. this grand looks kinda normal or boring during the day, but it shines during the night :)
@VirtualHarmonies thanks man, and nice coincidence. yeah i hope that someday i can get me one of these, or something similar. and it does indeed serve as a mirror, too :)
@jmitbitw more ff8 music soon :) and i love gusty garden, one of my favorite pieces, unfortunately impossible to play for me at the moment. it's gonna be one of the first things i'll record if things get better sometime.
@nathanielpiano thanks nathaniel, yeah ff8 has a ton of great pieces that stand out in one way or another. i'll definitely do more of that soundtrack :)
@RFouts0 You've got a PC, though. I think Final Fantasy 7 & 8 are available on PC, not just playstation. However, I think those 2 are the only ones transferred to PC, unless you count the 2 online MMO games FF 11 and 14.
@redcloud02 hello, thank you, yeah sometimes the most memorable pieces aren't the "big" ones. although i would play aerith's theme in the future at some point :) and yeah, now that game music concerts are somewhat more widespread, i hope that someday they run out of the "big" pieces to play so then they will be forced to play the other ones haha
This song holds such a special meaning for me. Thank you for playing such an amazing version. I'm not sure i've seen it, but do you think you can play Fragments of Memories?

Bro, this is amazing. I'd love to play that song. It brings back many memories, hehe :')
It souds incredibly beautiful, I love the way you play!! Awesome job at highglighting the main melody with your right hand!!

@Verdegrand lol ^o^. Maybe it does *points at your Sinister Sundown Video*. Can't wait to seeing you playing those crazy pieces again V =D!
Final Fantasy VIII will always be my favorite, its always compared to and overshadowed by its older brother VII.
