Brilliant he sings nearly as good as me. I love Brendan for his comedy but he is a great singer too and had great pleasure in hearing him sing I'll Take you Home again Kathleen in the Forum Waterford and on his videos/dvds. James your friend
Went to motorbike show at the mansion house in the early eighties, Brendan was the guest of honor. He told story of a guy out on his bike going up the gears , there must have 10 gears up and 12 gears down . Still laugh to myself anytime I hear his name mentioned, thanks Brendan R I P.
wonderful entertainer, beautiful voice , much underrated singer, he is a very talented comedian. My son met him some years back when he was only 10 and Brendan Grace was so kind to him, a total gentleman in every way.Really enjoyed this, The Dutchman is another wonderful one by him.
Absolutely great! Anne Murray also sings this -- what a great opportunity for a duet. Great song, great performance and great pleasure to listen. Thanks,
Newfoundland...........boy , is He adrift . The song for the Mira was written by Allister McGillivary while spending some time at Tic Butlers bungalow which is located on the Mira River , Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
Definately Cape Breton, NS. This song by Allister MacGillivray refers to the Mira which is the longest river in Nova Scotia. The Marion Bridge is about mid-way between the river's source in Grand Mira and it's discharge point at Mira Gut (from Wickipedia). I am not Canadian, but I love this wonderful song, and have spent many wonderful days in Nova Scotia and Cape Breton island in particular. Nova Scotia should get credit for this one. Rick
Thanks for correctly crediting Nova Scotia's Allister MacGillivray with this song. You are also correct that the Mira is a river in NS - but at 30-some miles, it's far from being the province's longest. Also, the song's reference isn't so much to "the" Marion bridge, but to the little village of Marion Bridge, which the songwriter says is worth ten of the world's big cities.
Two verses, one starting "And o'er the ashes the stories are told" and one "Out on the Mira, the people are kind". Search for it online, the songwriter is Allister MacGillivray.
Superb performer! The likes of you, Terry O' Grady, shouldn't be allowed to critic such a talented performer. So what if he got the location wrong! Don't get your knickers in a twist! Be grateful he sang the song so beautifully and accusing the man of drinking before the show could land your ass in court! He is and always had been an utter gentleman and professional entertainer which is more than I can say about being a professional jerk.
hi great guy and performer. . . thanks ibjuezrrie whoever you are young fellow if your still with us , i was just asking that question , i thought it was a old seaside place p burke manchester.
I don't know who this Brendan Grace character is but he's got his geography all screwed up. The Mira is not in Newfoundland. It's on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. Go south out of Sydney along highway 327 about 18 km till you reach Marion Bridge. The Mira River is just south of Marion Bridge.
He skipped a couple of verses... But not a bad version. The song has been covered many times, usually overwrought and overproduced. It's a folk song from an area with fishermen and coalminers. It should be sung by a weathered guy with a guitar, not a choir and a phony electronic orchestra.
ireland is ridicolous in its prices what 3.40 euros for a packet of biscuits 2.40 e 4 a can of beer ha its only 90p here for the basic one , superb singer brendan love video though.
Show some respect for your audience. At least get the location right and the Key right. Nice try at covering that up! I cannot believe that you actually taped that fiasco and had the nerve to SELL it. I suppose you thought "they're all thick anyway". A little more respect for your audience, Brendan. A word of advice; leave the booze 'til after the show; be a bit more professional.
Brendan will never die ❤ ❤❤
Swayed shoes, one swayed to the left, one to the right...quick witted Dub...we miss him...RIP Brendan +++

Leave home alone. If today’s Irish country fellows could sing like Brendan’ we would have a better music industry.
