Hi! The sample is from "It's Just Begun" by The Jimmy Castor Bunch. I spent the evening searching for where have I previously heard it after hearing it at the very end of "Prodigy Presents The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One". And after rechecking most of my favourite instrumental hip-hop/downtempo/nujazz albums, I asked Chat GPT for help and it mentioned The Cinematic Orchestra beside other acts. It came to my mind that it seemed like it was Cinematic Orchestra's... Checked A Man With A Movie Camera OST that I know and found this gap where I remember there was that sample. Thank you so much for pointing to the earlier version! Now I can finally prepare some dinner!
Nice music but completely irrelevant to this masterpiece. It ignores Dziga Vertov's musical instructions, ignores the division of the film into chapters and sequences, and ignores the tempo of the film. The last few minutes of the film in the Alloy Orchestra's superb score (an interpretation of Vertov's notes) is a thrilling blend of music and the frantic action on screen. This score simply continues the same tedious tempo that accompanies the rest of the film. The ending is a total anti-climax.
@richardbossons4671 Of course, that is merely an opinion, right?! 🙄 I 'ran into' this C.O. album in 2003, about one year after having caught some of their earlier work, live, at the Montreal Jazz Festival. At that time, i had no idea it was released as one of many soundtracks to a 1929 motion picture by Russian artist, Dziga Vertov. So i listened to it unbiased, and i just really liked the tracks as they were...as music. Have a ekoC and a elimS 🙂
