- Let's take a look at the afterlife, the good place, the bad place, and everything in between. What did all the secret numbers mean? Which of the main characters was secretly a demon? Was everything all according to Michael's plan? All that and more.

Can you please do a "How much is Dr.Frasier Crané is worth". I think that would be a great video.
Iceberg idea: Scrubs
Idk if you're into all these shows but icebergs for: new girl (or a where is the bear video for new girl, there supposedly is a bear in -almost- every episode), archer, arrested development, Atlanta, broad city, curb your enthusiasm, Malcom in the middle, modern family, the sopranos, workaholics. Some might not even have enough theories for an iceberg video but I would probably watch any video made by the channel about any of these shows :)
The Boondocks
Archer
Parks and Rec
Arrested Development
Chiding didn't joke about almond milk being his downfall- he truly believed it. I think the almondmilk theory is bogus because the whole point of them mentioning it is to illustrate that Chidi was completely unaware that his actual downfall was his lack of ability to commit to something and make decisions.
But also the unintentional consequences of our actions DOES matter. Hence Big Red Juicy Tomatoes
@@NoThankUBeQuietthat scene with the judge sent me wheezing lol
@@NoThankUBeQuietbut chidis overwhelming inability to make a decision is the reason
@@Tiny-xbxno. Chidi’s indecisiveness is definitely a weakness, but by calling it his “downfall” is to imply that, without it, he would have gotten into the Good Place. This is almost certainly not the case as modern society was the true downfall for most people.
I like how the showrunners avoided the red colour to prevent associations with hell but they told us about "retirement"
And had michael kick a puppy
I think it would have been cool to include the theory that Micheal is actually being tortured the whole time, Eleanor even suggests it in an episode in season 3 that a ‘mega demon’ is the one torturing him
This makes sense up until he goes to earth which he wanted
@@roslyngordon4596 maybe he wasn't being tortured, but tested. The entire show was his own afterlife test much like if you see at the end of the series
I think he didnt want to cover that since matpat already made an entire ~15 minute theory on that
Shawn?
michael having a red door on earth is what really made me think he was in his own bad place. i’m not smart enough to put together a whole theory, but a red door was an interesting choice.
I have always been amazed at the fact that the entire plot is revealed in the very first episode when Eleanor says that her parents must be used to torture each other in the bad place 😁
In the final episode, during Tahani’s goodbye party, a panda brings Eleanor champagne!!! More magic panda? 😏😏
Yes! Thank you, I was looking for this comment
Also in Season 4 Episode 5 when Michael and Jason go to rescue Janet, one of the "employees of the bearimy" pictures is of a panda. Very bottom left behind Michael as he's hanging his picture back up.
Please do a b99 iceberg next
for sure
cool cool
cool cool cool
No doubt, no doubt
coolcoolcoolcool
I don't like the theory that Michael is God. I feel like it really undermines his character arc if he was just pretending to be a demon the whole time rather than actually being a demon and learning how to be more human. The same goes for Chidi being a demon, it undermines the point of his character arc.
my mom pointed out that “architect michael” sounds a lot like archangel michael. it makes sense because both michael and the archangel were in the war versus good and evil!
SE E11 is not showing Trevor, it's showing Chidi. Check the outfits. The little dude you focus on is wearing a mailman outfit. Trevor was wearing his patented leather jacket.
The whole point of the IHOP is that it's multi-dimensional and not limited by time and space. Chidi falls into a pancake, gets made tiny and flies around all of space and time (even seeing the Time Knife!!) including to a point BEFORE when he stepped into the pancake (Jerimy Bearimy remember). The flying Chidi before he gets shrunk is a brilliant little foreshadowing as well as a mini-gag run in reverse.
you're totally right, I watched that part of the episode again and that scream was an iconic confused and scared chidi scream lol
1. cool detail!
2. this must be hilarious out of context 🤣🤣🤣
accidentally reinvented homestuck
Absolutely incredible iceberg! I love that “Catch that magic panda use her powers” is actually supported. What a fun Easter egg!
I've always been hoping for the existence of a Good Place iceberg, oh boy is this going to be a treat
Happy to help
The show explicitly says he went to the bad place for his indecisiveness so anyone who believes this theory hasn’t really watched the show that closely
They explicitly say that BEFORE the core group makes the discovery that no one has gotten into the good place in hundreds of years. It’s made abundantly clear that the vast majority of people in power (the judge, the good place architects, and the demons) are working from limited/broad information about the humans. The payoff for the recurring almond milk joke was supposed to be that in a roundabout way Chidi was spot on.
@@hannahrose7776 that doesn’t change the reason he doesn’t get in. No one getting into the good place doesn’t negate the reasons he specifically didn’t get in. Them being to harsh doesn’t invalidate the reasoning, only the system of judgment itself
this is more of a good place _theory_ iceberg rather than a good place iceberg in general, but still really well made!!
Especially bc the almond milk one doesn’t make sense bc cows milk is way worse for the environment than any other milk lmao
So it would make more sense for him to go to hell from choosing to drink cows milk over almond, rice, soy, etc, knowing what harm THAT causes
@@Penguinstudios123 worse for the environment doesn't mean it's worse for the people making it, as far as i recall Almond milk was bad because immigrants were overworked making it.
@@AdrianVoltz the reason (in this video) Chidi gives is that it’s bad for the environment. That’s what I was commenting on. But then you could then apply that to the cows being exploited, dairy cows get killed and it’s marked on as a good point to eat vegan in TGP, even if the almonds are from an unethical source it doesn’t make sense to switch from dairy to almonds and think it’s worse for the environment because it’s statistically significantly worse. Animal agriculture is horrific For the environment AND actually human rights in general (I mean, have you SEEN the leather industry? Yikes @ leather from India!)
You can grow almonds in the UK so not all almonds are from immigrants (?) that’s an easily avoidable unethical side to them too.
Oh my god, I thought the ‘magic panda’ was Janet… I can’t believe I’m still learning new things about this show, even after watching it for about 10+ times… 😳
I would love any Arrested Development content- such a good show
yesss
the iceberg would be ENDLESS
Chidi was not joking about the almond thing, he was serious 😂
You do know that in the second to last episode when Elenor was creating the system they if you keep rebooting people over and over again they will never change their solution to that was to give them a little voice in their head that would them what they’ve learned from previous reboots
Too many typos to understand your comment
this is by far my favorite sitcom NBC has released since community.
You forgot about one more magic panda that appeared in the finale, the panda was the waiter, it offered Eleanor a glass of wine, she took it and said "Thank you Panda"
Also in Season 4 Episode 5 when Michael and Jason go to rescue Janet, one of the "employees of the bearimy" pictures is of a panda. Very bottom left behind Michael as he's hanging his picture back up.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG THANK YOU! :D
Tahani actually mentions dating Larry Hemsworth towards the beginning of season 2, which makes it a stronger callback than just the ep before he shows up in season 3
i audibly gasped when i saw this video, i LOVE the good place, but i almost never hear anyone talk about it or see any content about it, i’m so excited to watch this!
The good place is literally my favorite show, so excited to watch
Love the content! Keep it up!!!
Awesome video! I wish it had more views like the other Iceberg videos!
If you go by certain philosophies/religions it can be assumed that when Chidi, and i guess Eleanor, make the choice to end it (i forget the actual lingo in the show) that is sorta like them choosing to get off the karmic wheel. So in a Buddha sense, they dont reincanate anymore and reach Nirvana. Sooooo, Nirvana can be seen as the actual Good Place of the show because there may have been subtle nods to Buddhism. I think the same might be said for Gnostic Heaven too. Anyway, they didnt show Nirvana cuz thats something...youd have to be a Buddha yourself to have any clue about. And maybe they didnt call it Nirvana because that would be leaning too much to any one philosophy over any other.
Also the guy that Michael meets at the door in the final episode was a reincarnated individual right? Cuz they seemed to infer that Michael knew him.
OMFG This absolutely broke me. I definitely need a part two...
The explanation of the tittle pretty much sums up what people explaining different math concepts to me is like 😂
Def feeling Chidi's reaction there!
Love the video 🔥
Hello, bill. I love your videos, they are fantastic. Make sure you keep making videos you enjoy. You've done a lot of iceberg videos, just don't get burnt out. Love you man.
Love your vids, love this show, time to see how many of these theories I know of :D
Right off the bat, if the Schuverse theory is to be believed, that would also rope in New Girl since they did a crossover on B99. Trying to think of other shows that have been connected, but none other come to mind immediately.
I absolutely love this show. It's actually what made me take both a Philosophy and Ethics class for my college electives :)
a part 2 would be great 👍
That last point hits almost as hard as the end of the show. Great video guys.
Thanks friend. Glad you enjoyed it
I honestly feel that Tahani was the most inproved
I agree, I find her arc to be the most well rounded and perfectly ended. It was a surprise because I didn’t really expect to care about her at the beginning of the series
I finally just finished watching this. It’s the bravest show of the Schurverse!
I need another iceburge of the good place! I learned so much just from this one!
Part 2 please, love the good place
Didn’t want this video to end.
YES!, this universe NEEDS more attention
Golly, I just love this show, and I've rewatched it more times than I can count. I'm glad that there's an iceberg video for it!! :)
great stuff, plz do a B99 iceberg so Michael Schur’s iceberg mega will be conplete
For the first iceberg point about Eagleton, I wish you had commented on the fact that Kristen Bell plays both Eleanor in The Good Place and Ingrid De Forest in PnR. Doesn't that essentially destroy the theory that PnR and The Good Place exist in the same universe?
no because “Kristen Bell” doesn’t exist in these universes. Those are actually just 2 ppl who are different but both look like Kristen Bell.
@@nia..6041 I think she exists because Ingrid is her real name whereas Kristen Bell is her stage name to have more relatable persona for acting. That also means that none of the people in Pawnee have watched Veronica Mars or noticed her voice in Gossip Girl (also didn't watch it) or Forgetting Sarah Marshall, people of Eagleton know but they have kept it a secret because of the snootiness. Eleanor is her lookalike or lost twin sister of sorts.
Please make the second part of this iceberg
Idk if you're into all these shows but icebergs for: new girl (or a where is the bear video for new girl, there supposedly is a bear in -almost- every episode), archer, arrested development, Atlanta, broad city, curb your enthusiasm, Malcom in the middle, modern family, the sopranos, workaholics. Some might not even have enough theories for an iceberg video but I would probably watch any video made by the channel about any of these shows :)
Nine circles of hell. Nine circles over Eleanor’s bed. Clever!
1:57, don't forget, New Girl is in the Brooklyn 99 universe as well.
More Good Place,please. :)
Oooo,Welcome to Night Vale-iceberg. That would be amazing ^^
Loving the DBZA references 😂
Not even close to a religious person but absolutely love this show great cast
13:11
Also to add to the magic panda cameos, you can actually see it on the wall that has the framed pictures of demons in S4 EP5, when Michael & Jason are in the bad place trying to save Janet
I'd like to point out that those were indeed 9 Rings/Circles above the bed, not 9 gears, it was a cheeky subtle hint to where they were.
But Brooklyn 99 and New Girl are canonically in the same universe. Which has always been pretty strange to me
So happy with the algorithm right now.
This was my favorite show
The panda does show up in other episodes too, there is one where he is holding a tray with drinks.
the Eleanor test theory just blew my mind
Phoebe wouldn't go to the good place either, she was jealous towards her sister, she locked up Mike to a pipe for whatever reason, she mugged multiple people including Ross. Now she did do the mugging to survive due to being poor, but that wouldn't help her in the old good place.
I have been looking for this comment! All the friends terrible morally, that is partly why it is fun to watch the show.
that isn't Phoebe, that is an ancient German scholar who looks like Phoebe. Goes on to show that maybe her birth mom or her dad has Greek ancestry
@@samriddhigupta5514 no I was talking about how the guy in the video said none of the friends would go to the good place except Phoebe
@@redder_ I know that's why I said that the person who looks like Phoebe isn't really her. That's the Greek scholar who was in the similar time frame as Aristotle and Plato.
13:42 ok i didnt think a panda could ever be this terrifying
I want to ask Michael Shur if he was inspired by the Twilight Zone episode "A Nice Place to Visit"
It's the first season in 23 minutes
i would love to know what would happen to kids and babies that passed away like if everyone got sent to the bad place what about babies tthat dies or little kids
Lmao the DBZ abridged “void” 😂😂
Hm on the "Bettering Place"/Purgatory theory, it could be theorized that they are already specifically in the test phase for the good place that they ended up "devising" at the end?
Basically what if the entire group is in a simulation like the ones they came up with at the end of the show to test you and make you better in order to get into the Good Place.
In that sense, the afterlife is already not cruel or "fixed" by someone else before the group and they are just participating in it. Their 4 season run is essentially the test that made them "confront their moral shortcomings" and get into the Good place.
The next question is, who is being tested. Maybe one of them is "real", maybe all of them. 🤓
Dammit now I see the video covered this at the end... 😂
I thought this was an iceberg about good things and the deeper the good
Can’t believe we didn’t get into the mike is in the bad place theory
finally an iceburg that i know everything abt
This graph shows that almond milk is only bad for water usage where rice milk is close to almond milk in every category except for water usage.
In season 1 when micheal is asking Janet for the list of people who were at the restaurant you can see someone hand her papers at the corner of the screen.
I believe on The Good Place podcast Shure said that 322 is from skull and bones but it was because one of the writers "may or may not" have been in the club.
21:59 in the episode Jermey Bearimy approximately 4 minutes 9 seconds in he tells tahani “almost 300 actually”
"May 10th means nothing to most people" my birthday being on may 10th 😰
Hey. You’re not most people. Proud of you.
I just liked it and it went from 999 to 1k I feel so powerful 👹
I was born on a Tuesday in July … am I the tittle ? Am I the VOID ?!
17:08 yeah that was very heavily implied. it wasn't exactly a subtle metaphor.
Wasn’t Phoebe pretty violent, manipulative and a former mugger? Yeah, I think she’s actually got the fastest ticket to The Bad Place 😂
True. There's also the fact that she's technically responsible for Mike breaking up with his girlfriend and even helped to break their relationship up on his behalf once she found out about it for entirely selfish reasons. She wasn't even that upset about the fact Mike cheated on his girlfriend with her, she just wanted the girlfriend out of the way. She'd definitely lose a bunch of points for that whole mess.
that isn't Phoebe, thats an ancient Greek scholar who looks like Phoebe, goes on to show that she may have some Greek ancestry on her birth mom's or father's side.
DBZA reference at 4:42
interesting
Weird there was no mention at all about the "Judge" (Who is she then?) And you guys didn't talk about the shrimps.
Why did the voice suddenly change at 11:36?
Did you not watch the video? There are 2 people speaking for the video.
Phoebe was a sociopath, she totally would have ended up in the bad place.
Side note: the iceberg illustration used in the thumbnail is widely used, but wrong-an iceberg that shape would not and could not stably float with that orientation. (I say this as a physicist.)
Iceberg iceberg when?
What about the panda in the last episode that gives Eleanor champagne?
You missed a panda there was a photo of it in the demon of the bearmy hall or something when they went to rescue Janet
The name Michael is transliterated on the question in Hebrew "Who is like El?". El means God.
It is also the name of the prime Archangel in Catholic Christianity and the prince who protects the people of Israel / Judah in the Tanakh.
Some baby name books mistranslated the name to mean "one who is like the Lord" rather than "who is like God?"
One would assume that the real good place was created by God and that Michael was creating his "Good Place" in emulation of God.
Michael's progress from Demon to ultimately human being through torture and ultimate self-redemption by creating his own moral path is ironically a purgatorial exercise which allows him to ultimately be redeemed and to enter the Good Place on his own merit.
This is scarily deep stuff.
Who is like God at the end of the whole series? All those who progressed and developed into being the best they could be and ultimately returned to the universe from which they originated.
Although, God remains outside the series as a whole and yet is included in the human move to become better than they were, ascending to a higher state of being.
OK so now that we now you're a fan of dbz abridged... iceberg please 🙏
I looooved the good place
please do brooklyn nine-nine next
Phobe wouldn't go to the good place either, she was jealous towards her sister, she locked up Mike to a pipe for whatever reason, she mugged multiple people including Ross.
Those are circles. For the 9 circles of hell. You even say 9 circles of hell in the very next part of the video lmao..
Come on lads! You didn't even mentioned the possibility that the whole show us actually Michael's bad place!
Please do Brooklyn 99 netx
Dante also said there's 9 circles of heaven
Phoebe is the worst friend. They all have their shortcomings but Phoebe is downright evil.
As someone born on a Tuesday in July, can confirm nothing never happened
So you think you would get bored and delete yourself? Every book and tv show could be a real thing, time would move, new people, new ideas, new media, just take some breaks get a job , sleep for 20,000 years, reset yourself / delete what you did, live a full life in your fav tv show try new ideas, make a earth like Rome did not fall.
My guy really said eagleton was full of rich powerful snobs instead of rich snobby jerks
Post the lost video now
I fail to see how any of those examples use the Fibbanotchie sequence lol
Also too lazy to go back and see how it's spelled
1-2-3-5-8 are the first 5 numbers in the Fibonacci sequence.
the 9 gears -> circles above her bed was a joke, right?.....RIGHT??
Wouldn't it make more sense for Michael to have secretly been... The Archangel?
9 gears? Those are rings above her bed, like the 9 rings of hell.
