I'm not sure because we were never there during the day, just in the afternoon. There's also at least 2 different sides of the resort that have swim outs. We were on the south side. It was mostly in shade by 5 o'clock in the afternoon but there was some sun.
This trip was originally set up through Sunwing, a Canadian travel group. Getting this room is NOT even something that is an option from Canada. Fortunately, I went there about 3 weeks after it opened in November of 2018 and got to know the manager and the customer service management first hand. I did a number of large video's on UA-cam regarding the resort and what we thought about it. They can be found on our channel and also can be found by searching "Riu Palace Costa Mujeres Walkthrough". There are about 4 or 5 main videos and then there are specialized videos too. I think they found this to be of great free PR to them. I emailed management and requested a room upgrade to a swimout room. They had no problem giving us the upgrade and we greatly appreciated the staff going out of their way to make this happen. Great group of people to work with!
Tim Willms So you know, your videos worked and my husband and I just booked a Swim Out Jr. Suite for a trip this summer. My hair stylist was there a few weeks ago and loved the place, too. I showed my husband your videos and he was sold. Thanks.

It lets them see that our goal to make their resort shine, was successful. The general manager already knows this as I spoke with him the other day and he confirmed with me that we provide great PR for them by way of the videos. This is why we got an upgrade to our room. 😉

Can you tell me approximately how many swim out rooms this Riu has? Looking at booking this....
I believe there are 16 swim outs. 10 facing the beach under the entertainment stage and 6 facing south, perpendicular to the beach.
How deep was the pool? I’m getting one and just wondered
Pool depth is only about 4 feet at most. You can always stand up.
Oh geez, sorry. You mean for the swimout room. I think it's around 3' or so. Not very deep at all.
Do they come around and serve you still at the swimouts?
